The problem is there’s no guarantees you’d become one. They make you join the military first and then test you to see if you’re capable to handle the g forces among other exams. Also the minimum requirement to go near any aircraft is a bachelors degree. If you don’t pass all of the tests you will still be in the military for 4 years and won’t be able to fly.
>Also the minimum requirement to go near any aircraft is a bachelors degree
a moron could get bachelors degree. Sure he wouldn't ace anything but a degree is a degree
I live in San Diego which is where top gun is located and literally a 10 minute drive from the Miramar Air Force base. The only fighter pilots I’ve met had degrees in computer science, math, and economics. I don’t think they have degree requirements but I’m assuming you have to be smart so that rules out people with shitty degrees that any dumbass could get like English and political science.
I wish. I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I was a kid. I’m a software engineer now and I absolutely hate my job. I’m 31 and I think the cutoff is 33 so it’s a little late for me now. Either way I would take a massive pay cut if I dropped everything and joined the navy.
> I’m assuming you have to be smart so that rules out people with shitty degrees that any dumbass could get like English and political science.
dude, getting a degree is easy. It only weeds out people with no discipline
Certain degrees, like the ones I mentioned definitely weed out IQlets.

nah, even a brainlet can get CS degree if he's disciplined and doesn't have to work part time while studying

Have you ever gone to the house? I read they moved it to build some hotel on that plot but then the house in the movie looked like it was in the same place.

It’s in Oceanside which is way north San Diego county. I live more south and don’t go to Oceanside often. I wanna go see it. That would suck if it’s gone 🙁

It’s definitely a requirement now. Only officer’s fly and you need a bachelors degree minimum to be an officer.

They're required to be officers because of the ordinance they handle which is required by the rules of war to only be used by people in positions of command. Not because officers are college educated

Being a smart doesn't make you a better pilot, what matters most is the ability to withstand g forces and make sound tactical decisions in a high stress environment. Being smart helps but it isn't a requirement for flying. The general of the air force has a ba in textiles

Yeah definitely not booksmart as a requirement but just general intelligence and athleticism. I heard people with strong legs and glutes are the best at withstanding high g’s.
That's the first movie. Jennifer is barely in the sequel, movie spends most of it's time focusing on Pete trying to come to terms with the end of his career and forgiving himself over what he did to Rooster
I would watch it a 3rd time if they still had it in Dolby cinema. The 2nd time was in imax cause I wanted to see it with better sound and with my friends I’ve been trying to convince to see it. I didn’t realize Dolby cinema was a thing and the sound system blows imax out of the water from what I hear. They’re not showing it in either anymore since lightyear is in both even though nobody is watching that bullshit.
I saw it in Dolby, IMAX twice, and 4DX. 4DX is an absolute gimmick but works for something like this.

I don't remember thinking there was much difference in sound between Dolby and IMAX.
Oh wow really? I don’t feel so bad anymore. I remember watching a YouTube video about Dolby and was impressed by the amount of speakers they had but if it’s not much different then I’d prefer imax cause of the bigger screen
It's possible that the Dolby I saw it in is a ripoff because it's an AMC and they skimped on their IMAX theater too. But given how rare real IMAXes are Dolbys are probably similar. If you saw it on the biggest screen you could find you did enough.
Why was it in specialty theaters for only like a week? Pissed me off. I saw it in Dolby but wanted to see it in IMAX, too. Only standard/digital since that first week.
How was it in Dolby? Would you say it was worth it?

I would say it was well worth the extra $5 or whatever it was. Deep, rich blacks and excellent sound. Also stadium-style seating with the rows almost stacked vertically, so not a bad seat in the house. I thought the rumbling might be annoying but it actually added to the flight scenes.
What do you have to show for yourself, merc? Blood? Gold? A broken throne? >I will bury you so completely, the earth will turn over a thousand times before your body is dug up.
which dad rock song was used during these scenes where cruise one-shot everyone and made them do push ups?
Won't Get Chucked Again by The Sneed
Meet the new boss
good morning, sir
Coomer, standing by.
Falseflag, reporting in
What was Cruise thinking?
>ywn be a fighter pilot
Why didn't I follow my dreams

Contrary to what Hollywood shows you, pilots spend most of their time being desk jockies, they only fly part time.
One more stunt like that and you will be on a cargo plane flying rubber dog turds out of Hong Kong
Mfw when the commander let all the pilots pick their own call signs.
>Rodger
>Over
>Negative
>Copy
>Affirmative
They trolled the whole system!
>roger roger
>waiting for clearance clarance
>what's our vector victor
>mfw some furgay wants the callsign "fox"
:^)
US Navy F-18, you are violating Iranian airspace! Leave immediately!
No lol. Lmao
>I'm back at the top baby! Back at the top!
>Gun, Maverick. It's "top gun". Geez.
Lost interest after that.
>now I am become top gun: maverick
What were they thinking?
>You shot down two fifth gen fighters. You really are the Top Gun Maverick.
GOOD MORNING MISTER KIMBLE!
>cuts to black
>I NEED TO KNOW NOW, KNOW NOW
>CAN YOU LOVE ME AGAIN?
Not enough plane, way too much romance subplot
Same as the original.
That's the first movie. Jennifer is barely in the sequel, movie spends most of it's time focusing on Pete trying to come to terms with the end of his career and forgiving himself over what he did to Rooster
Watching this movie again for the fourth time lads. Only movie I've ever seen in theaters more than once
Nice,
I did the same thing with Edge of Tomorrow

Jurassic Park cucked us.
I hope they put Top Gun back in IMAX for the 4th of July weekend, the film has great legs
Dolby is only in amc no? I don’t know for sure but near me I only ever see it at amc’s. I’ve still never seen a movie in Dolby.
Yes, I have an AMC around 25 minutes from me that has both Dolby and IMAX theaters. I saw it in Dolby with rumbling recliners.
Cinemark has XD and Regal has RPX/4DX. All within a 15-20-mile radius of me.
How was it in Dolby? Would you say it was worth it?

Absolutely based.
