He actually hosted Jeopardy at one point in the 90s on April Fools Day trading positions with Alex Trebek who hosted Wheel of Fortune that day. Should also mention that Alex had guest hosted Wheel of Fortune in 1980 before Pat took over and that’s how he ended up the host of Jeopardy because Merv Griffin remembered that.

    >It's the end of an era. Say something nice about Pat.
pat is the type of guy that could have been a significant political leader. comparatively rare in any generation. guy's military, mixed jobs in his past, and has 40 years of recorded proof that he's got an unwavering hand and the "speak softly" roosevelt adage.

I wish I could remember the specific lines but the gist was “glad we’re taping this week cos New Orleans will be destroyed” lol & he was even more aggressive during the commercial breaks. This reminds me that Harry Anderson owned a bar in The French Quarter & after Katrina he organized weekly neighborhood meetings which my ex & I attended because he gave out free soda. Anyway, he opened the first meeting with a joke that had the word c**t in the punchline &, wow, I have never seen a joke bomb harder! R.I.P. Harry!

I remember back to the years of 2008-2012. Those were the worst days of my life, because I had no job, no money, and was a NEET living with my Mom and Dad. But in the evenings, we always had Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, where just for a brief hour, we all just enjoyed each other's company...and I didn't feel like an absolute failure.

It was the television equivalent of comfort food: something stable in a world full of chaos.

Now, I've since moved on to my own apartment and a steady job, but it doesn't eliminate those feelings of worthlessness.

I had no idea he was still doing this show. I thought all the old game hosts retired by last decade.

Does she not realize that 90% of all the old game show hosts were conservatives? Hell Pat isn’t even the most conservative one, his predecessor Chuck Woolery literally got cancelled a few years back because he ran a podcast that espoused right wing views

I really kind of miss the 'showcase' of prizes. I remember not watching wheel for a while, busy with work and life and when i finally got to sit down one night and watch, they had switched formats to what they have now, just the one prize atthe end, usually a car. I was like "Hey where's all the 'stuff' and a friend was like "Oh they haven't done that in xxx, where have you been".

It’s probably a good thing since you have to pay taxes on all that shit due to it being taped in California. Cash is less taxable. I remember reading about how when they taped the show in Florida they didn’t have to add in extra taxes that were put on in California

Here’s something even rarer, a pilot for a game show that never aired that Pat hosted called Puzzlers that was taped a year before he started doing Wheel of Fortune.

Vanna White is in her 60's but I still find her very attractive. Absolutely would.

He spent his life mesmerizing boomers so they didn't have to think or do anything productive. There could hardly be a more destructive individual on television. The damage him and other israelite programming has done has cost us everything.

Wheel of Fortune is the worst fricking gameshow I've ever watched and I'm glad he's finally off the fricking air.

I will never understand why old people have liked this show for so fricking long.
