Well she got insulted in front of an audience thats good enough for me. What a shitty character. And she could have died over and over again since several characters basically replaced her.
I loved the first season, and the 4th season was also good.
I wish it wasn't so campy. No other show got 66's camp just right. Everyone just seems liker they're laughing at the joke instead of selling it straight
I hated the campyness too, a little bit of it like it was in the first season was ok but the later seasons went in to it too much.
there was zero reason for them to turn penguin into an emo twink
The penguin was seriously the best character for the whole first season and then some, but then right around the part they made him go gay for the riddler he became shitty.
I just wished the show was more of a crime drama, like a lot of the earlier episodes and some of the stuff in the 4th season, instead of being a weird alternate teen batman story.
I wish it wasn't so campy. No other show got 66's camp just right. Everyone just seems liker they're laughing at the joke instead of selling it straight
The only thing I didn't like about season 3 and 4 was Lee Thompkins. I just know her as a kind old lady who helped Bruce become Batman. She was also dating Alfred at one point and Bruce Autistically didnt notice. In Gotham she's dating Jim Gordon and Ed Nygma and she's a coniving drunk psycho killer.
I also didn't like Barbara Kean who goes from some heroin addicted bawd that Jim fricked to another psycho killer to ruler of the Criminal Underground to the bride of Ra's Al Ghul to mother of Barbara Gordon. Awful Character
>I also didn't like Barbara Kean who goes from some heroin addicted bawd that Jim fricked to another psycho killer to ruler of the Criminal Underground to the bride of Ra's Al Ghul to mother of Barbara Gordon. Awful Character

Nah man. She actually lost her fricking mind. I want to look up the specific articles and threads on Cinemaphile but I can't right now.
>but then couldn't be assed
Did you really miss the reason why he didn't save him?
Because he didn't want to. Or maybe he knew that Ra's would survive and get Bane to replace him? But I hate that scene. Its exactly the same as Batfleck letting a grenade blow up in a guys face. Its the very epitome of "The charges officer?"
I mean his whole thing is he kills his parents right? They could have done that but have it be an episode of Jim and Bullock trying to solve it. Even have tommy get scarred in the accident and have him wrapped in bandages
Yeah what they did to Freeze was atrocious. He and Harvey Dent are two of the best villains in Batman mythos and they got swept to the side for more Barbara. It waa bullshit.
I liked it before it got super camp and after but over time it became an entirely different show. Gordon beating the shit out of office worker fight club and Closer to the Bone playing while Ed chops up a body were kino. No capes no frivolity just great scenes.
I liked the camp. When the villains tried getting together ro build a submarine I'll admit I did a soiface. I wasn't expecting a reference to Batman 66 and i was hyped. If I had to complain about anything its Bruce basically telling Selina and Gordon he would become Batman. He even let Selina drive in the protoBatmobile and Gordon caught him in the Dildoman suit
Because he's the same as Batman in terms of motivation. He's on the same path its just that he's doing it the wrong way and this forces Batman to deal with him.

The last episode was so shit though what the frick happened?
It would have benefited from one more episode. I would gladly give money for a television movie just based on the show taking place a year into Batman's career.
Reminds me that Sarah Essen was in this show and Jim never tapped that. Nooo Give him Lee fricking Thompkins for no reason. What the frick?
>scrawny weasely guy who stabs and lies his way to the top and fattens himself up on his success.
It was kino. Now Jonathan Crane was an emo who didn't need to happen. And morphing a 9 year old Ivy into a 20 year old and finally a 30 year old was a bit odd. By the end of the show she was 15
What they did with Ivy was fricking weird, but I liked her third iteration best.
Scarecrow/Q Anon Jr. with a creepy distorted voice was neat but underutilized
They wanted Ivy to be the same age as Bruce and Selena so she could pal around with them but later realized Ivy's schtick of seducing men wouldn't fly with a little girl so they had to think of a way to age her up.
Agreed, Crane was a lot more fun when the second actor came in. I feel like tying him to some sad backstory and trying to make him sympathetic didn't really work, I was glad they cut that part out when they recast him and pretty much revamped the character. Just wish this version was given more screentime.
His new voice was cringe. His initial voice was kino, it was so off and dreary, totally unlike anything you'd expect. The new voice sounded like a 13 year old's idea of a "scary" voice.
>Crane is bullied for being anorexic >Crane's dad was keeping food away and pumping fear gas into him
Okay thats where they fricked up. Crane is a psychologist and thats why his mastery of fear works so well even without the gas. I mean the gas is necessary but they go hand in hand.
My only complaint is that we never got to see him use a single one of his trick umbrellas. I thought that device used by that random assassin in S1 was setting up Penguin's sword umbrella but it never came up again.
Yea they only kept the Umbrella because Ozzy held the umbrella over Mooney. Other than that. it just seemed forced. And the final season they gave him a dog. Why not a parrot? Penguin is aviosexual. Lean into that
Or Zsasz's scars. They bring it up twice. O think they bought it down to he only does it if he kills a cop. But then when someone blows up 300 people he says he would cover his body in them.
Eh, overall it's one of my few live-action shows I've watched where I didn't HATE it by the end, I don't know, something about live-action shows always ends up rubbing me the wrong way at some point, usually when villains stay alive for too long.
I'm still not sure how I feel about how the first half was all "what if Gotham was a real place in real life" and the second half was "here's the origins of literally everyone, also there's multiple Jokers, hahaha."
I honestly think there's two whole concepts for two whole shows here, and I don't think they mixed very well in one show.
A *GAY* emo twink.
GAY gay.
gaygaygaygaygay
Like, I was very surprised at just how much being gay was such a center point to his whole character.
I was really iffy about him being as gay as he was, but I tolerated it because Nygma wasn't gay and didn't turn gay.
That's one of my pet peeves with LGB stuff on shows and cartoons, 99.999999% of the time, they'll lust after someone, finally admit having a gay(/lesbian) crush on them, then OH WOW THEY'RE GAY TOO!!!11!! SURPRISEEEEE!!!!
They never say no, the other person is never straight, and everyone around them claps for them.
The only exceptions I can think of right now are Kipo, Gotham, and some modern crime show I overheard where a (married and straight) main character becomes gay, and his wife is like "what the literal frick" for several episodes. I think the guy was wanting to become polygamous too?
Being gay was not a big part of Penguin's character. The only time it came up was to serve a narrative purpose of driving a wedge between him and Riddler. Other than that, Penguin's sexuality never comes up again.
Penguin wasn't gay and I hate that this shit filtered so many people. Penguin was a lonely outcast who's only source of affection was his mother. Nygma saved him and basically showed him a little kindness. Not knowing how to feel Penguin thought he fell in love. That doesnt make him gay. It makes him autistic.
If you really want to be mad at homos in hollywood be mad at Barbara Kean and Tabby. Be mad at Zsasz who everyone loved because he was soooo sassy omg. But it was to the point where Nygma was fricking Lee Thompkins and everyone was still mad because they thought he was gay? Get the frick outta here.
Like the other anons said, Penguin was starved for attention and affection and mistook that for love. He even almost got caught up in Sofia's schemes too and would've been seduced by her before her plans went breasts up.
It definitely had the Best Live Action Joker since Heath Ledger. Cameron Monaghan was phenomenal as Jerome Valeska (Proto-Joker) and Jeremiah Valeska (The Joker). It's really stupid WB never let Gotham fully use the Joker because he did the role way more justice then Jared Leto did.
I liked it before it got super camp and after but over time it became an entirely different show. Gordon beating the shit out of office worker fight club and Closer to the Bone playing while Ed chops up a body were kino. No capes no frivolity just great scenes.
I did enjoy the show, my only qualm was that they should have killed certain characters instead of continuing them or fake killing them and then bringing them back.
I always dug whenever a big confrontation happened in the precinct. Always felt like some big boss fight was happening, just with different enemies.
By the time Barnes and the Strike Force rolled around you actually found yourself rooting for Jim because up to that point it felt like he was on an island by himself trying to fight the corruption. And then for a few short episodes it actually felt like competent people were getting it the frick done. It made you root for them all the more.
And all the better for it, thank fricking God. They had no business being in that show as early as they did and the runners knew it.
They could have used Renee Montoya instead of that other random black chick from the strike force. She was a reoccuring character but I just... didnt care.
>Show's beginning: Cliche police procedural drama with some vague ties to taking place long before Batman appears >Show's end: Incomprehensible nonsense
They didn't know what the frick they were doing, were they?
There was an anon on Cinemaphile a year ago or so who wrote several paragraphs that aimed to convince me to watch it based solely on the fappability of the actresses in it. That's the only reason I remember it exists
I'm ashamed to say I still need to watch it
It was alright. People b***hed about "Batman show without Batman" through every season without understanding that Gotham was a nuts place before Batman and Bruce didn't just become Batman immediately after Thomas and Martha got got. The main cast was great. Mckenzie was good, Mazouz was good, and Pertwee was a top-shelf Alfred. The supporting cast and respective plots were hit-and-miss but there were some real gems to be found.
>Pertwee was a top-shelf Alfred
Totally agree.
Actually felt like Alfred before he's starting to get on in years.
He's got the badass past and capacity to follow through while having a fair amount of snide wit that all butlers, especially Alfred, need.
The actor himself managed to fill the role well.
>pretending it wasn't
Protip: Stop being such a homosexual who says he doesn't like something just to fit in with the "cool" crowd. If you like something, stand up for your shit taste
Best Riddler
Best Bullock
Best Joker(s)
Best Lucius Fox
Best Victor Zsasz
Worst Gordon
Worst Catwoman
Worst Mr. Freeze
Worst Harvey Dent
Worst Resh All Ghoul
Had it not been for the Batwoman Poison Ivy she would be on the worst list. Had it not been for Falcone in the Batman he would be on the worst list.
Had it not been for the fact that Batman Returns had a Penguin that loved birds and used trick umbrellas he would be on the best list.
>Worst Resh All Ghoul
The actor was phenomenal and he was good until the later half of season four. The first half where he has Bruce kill him I was assuming this was part of some grand master plan that would get explained and paid off in the second half. But then you find out Ra's is a complete moron and there was no master plan, he actually did want to die and there was nothing else to it. And to make matters worse he gave the Demon's Head to a random prostitute he met. Kino actor and the writing waaaas kino until you realize they actually had no idea what the frick they were even doing.
>falcone would've been on the worst list
He was fantastic and one of the best parts of the show you swine. >worst gordon
When Black person Gordon exists? Fricking lol. The Batman Gordon plays himself in everything he's ever in.
I haven't seen any other movie with that actor but I liked the Gordon. He added a kind of buddy cop element to Batman which was neat. This Gordon just seemed like a simp and had plot armor out the ass. One of the better scenes in The Batman was when the mayor gets shot and Gordon dives in and drags her out of the line of fire like a soldier in a war. They couod have easily just made it a simply firemans carry. But the wordlessly gave an element to that character never seen before.
>Worst Resh All Ghoul

I used to think the worst Ra's was Arrow. But now if I really had to list them Arrow>Batman Begins>Gotham
Arrow was actually kino
Liam Neeson at least has some meme value and Alexander Siddig is a top tier actor who at least made Ra's good to watch even in the later half of season four when the writing dropped the ball. There is nothing redeemable about Arrow's Ra's, let alone the Arrow show in itself.

I liked Liam Neeson but it was not Ra's. I don't even think he used the Lazarus Pit. And the fact that Bruce saved him once but then couldn't be assed to save him again was gay.
Arrow Ra's had another problem. I thought he was good but he started losing to Black Canary and got mogged by the Flash for no reason. And on top of that why in the frick is Ra's involved with the Green damn Arrow? They did beat for beat a Batman story with Oliver Queen. Even gave him Katana and let him be Arrow and the Outsiders. Why? I liked Arrow but that was ridiculous. And i say that IN A GOTHAM THREAD

>but then couldn't be assed
Did you really miss the reason why he didn't save him?
The thing that immediately turned me off Gotham was that "batman cop show" immediately rose my interest but instead of "police procedural or detective show set in a gothic comicbook setting" it was "really fricking weird and campy origin story that has every villain in the series even though they're all children"
You need a certain mindset to enjoy it but yes, it was entertaining and fun. Except Fish Mooney, why did that fricking character exist?!
>Except Fish Mooney, why did that fricking character exist?!

The Gotham threads were hilarious. Any girl Jim had became a mirderous psychopath. Lee Thompkins, Barbara Kean, Sophia Falcone.

You talking about the mentalist? I didn't think it was that bad, kind of underwhelming reveal but it was alright as far as conclusions go.
They could have used Renee Montoya instead of that other random black chick from the strike force. She was a reoccuring character but I just... didnt care.
>Azrael leading a one man seige on GCPD
One of the worst moments of the show. The other worst moment was Angsty Bruce firing Alfred
It’s the most causal shit ever and I hate it
this is one of the worst things i've ever seen
Filtered.
>Show's beginning: Cliche police procedural drama with some vague ties to taking place long before Batman appears
>Show's end: Incomprehensible nonsense
7/10.

Worst Gordon
Worst Catwoman

I used to think the worst Ra's was Arrow. But now if I really had to list them Arrow>Batman Begins>Gotham
Arrow was actually kino
Arrow was tenny bopper trash and that Ra's felt like they grabbed some random drunk out of a British pub asking him if he wanted to be on TV.
dont get me wrong. He's bad. But of all of them he wasn't the worat.
Did you really miss the reason why he didn't save him?
>worst Gordon
when batman forever and adam west Gordon exist? No way.
it had it's shitty parts but yeah it was a good show.
Mickey could've fixed him
The thing that immediately turned me off Gotham was that "batman cop show" immediately rose my interest but instead of "police procedural or detective show set in a gothic comicbook setting" it was "really fricking weird and campy origin story that has every villain in the series even though they're all children"
