It took a few mental leaps to get here from there, but I'd like to thank OP for inspiring my new headcanon that, while Dipper and Mabel were vacationing in Gravity Falls, their parents were, unbeknownst to them, negotiating their divorce. Truly they failed to solve the greatest mystery of all: why they were sent off on this vacation.

...uh, no, it's very obviously the first option. She's only 12 when the show is set and she already comes on very, very strong; it's frankly hard to believe that she's as chaste and romantically unsuccessful as depicted, provided that she's neither ugly (which she doesn't seem to be) nor being kept on a tight leash by the other characters (which she REALLY doesn't seem to be, seeing as she's repeatedly allowed to go on dates with guys as early as the first episode).
