It’s sad that GRRM brainwashed the entire ASOIAF fanbase into blaming themselves for him not being able to finish the books when in reality it’s because he’s a lazy pathetic bum. cuck fanbase

Cuck fanbase is every creator's dream. Imagine taking your time to crap out something and your fans will consoome it gladly like a herd of sheep...

Every time I see House of the Dragon's dim lighting and crummy VFX, I think to myself, "God, In the Lost Lands is going to flex on this so fricking hard." It's funny because the art director on In the Lost Lands (Michael Derrah) worked on Game of Thrones Season 6-7, but I guarantee it's going to be a complete departure in every way imaginable. If look at Glen McPherson and Paul W.S. Anderson's filmography they have always emphasized bold colours, crisp visuals, and a kind of punchiness and clarity. In other words everything Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon isn't.

In the Lost Lands is a direct product of Paul W.S. Anderson being irritated by fantasy and sci-fi, which would include Game of Thrones, having bad lighting. He calls it "greenscreen lighting where you can see everything" and there's no coherent lighting scheme to unify the actors and the environments. There's no strong light sources contrasted against deep shadows. Everything is this essentially flat lit mediocrity with almost no meaningful directionality. It feels like they shot the actors and then figured out the lighting in post, which is... actually how a lot of film and TV is made, and it's a shit way of doing it.

tl;dr, please release the In the Lost Lands trailer, and please don't suck. At the very least look good in the trailers so HBO can feel ashamed for how terrible their shows look.

George is also writing a graphic novel for the movie.
        >We’ve just started the post production process, and there’s a lot of special effects and other work yet to do, so IN THE LOST LANDS likely won’t be appearing at your local cinema until some time in 2024. We are also hoping to do a tie-in graphic novel, which will include both my original story (quite short, at 6,000 words or so) and the larger, darker, more expansive world of the film. That’s still in early days, though.

funny thing is he actually made tons of progress during covid when he had nothing else going on to distract him, soon as lockdown ended he went right back to playing with side projects and the result was 0 pages written in 2023

        >what? Nvm what I said my progress was 5 years ago, this time I actually did do it!
        >uhh no there’s still hundreds of pages left to complete
He knew he would have even less excuses to explain his lack of progress during Covid so he took everyone on a bullshit ride.

I don't get why fans, those still holding in there at least, think him releasing the next book meaningfully sees the series being close to being completed. There is still one book after the one he has been 'working' on for however long. By that precedent it will take him another 15-20 years to finish the final book and - even ignoring how long that is to wait - what are the chances he will live to do it.

They could announce it's finished right now and that every book store will be handing out unlimited free copies to anyone who wants one and I still wouldn't read it. It's too late to care.
