I don't know why morons continue with this cope.
We already know what "ending" was given to the Ds thanks to leaks.
        >Bran sits the iron throne
        >Daenerys sits to invade across the sea
It wasn't the actual ending, it was just a midpoint.... That the Ds took to be THE end and butchered it to hell and back.

They never ran a show before this. They roped that idiot boomer in over too much wine at dinner and a firm handshake. They're literally Goldman Sachs nepobabbies. They are fricking hacks that had recoverable interesting narrative options until they fried Randyll Tarley AND his son, like the former wasn't the best military commander living and a Targ loyalist at heart trying to keep his oath to a loathsome tyrant against his better judgement (the kind of thing Varys & Tyrion are explicitly present to help finesse). Just like Martin, all they and HBO had to do was collate the mass of fan theories and shuffle the deck.

They could have used their brain and wrote an ending that makes logical sense for the characters they had.
      Instead we got
      >welp guess I'm flying Hitler now
      >whaaaa I'm baby let's die together Jaime
      >I don't remember having character development or a character arc, so neither will the audience
      >I'm the smartest person in the room... But I guess I need to openly conspire for treason
      >gaslight gatekeep girlboss pay Sansa
Everything since S1 when they started to go off book was shit.
It was only when things became 100% Dickhead and Douchebag that the smoothbrains recognized the hackery.

Game of Thrones ended up being shit specifically because George didn’t finish the books

Winds of Winter, alone, is taking him longer to write than the entire production of the Game of Thrones TV show. The tv show was worked on and ended in a shorter time span than Winds of Winter. And it isn’t even the final book

      Anonymous

it's almost taken as long as the time between the releases of the first and fifth book. he's never finishing that shit.

      It’s worse

HBO is working on a Dunk and Egg tv series and George is involved so he has less time to write. Worse than that Dunk and Egg isn’t finished and won’t have a definitive ending unless George writes it and releases another novella, which means it’ll either be another Game of Thrones situation or it’ll take even longer for Winds of Winter since he’ll be working on a different book

the most possible course of action is that grrm releases the 3 novellas that he has in mind, the story in dorne between the hedge knight and sworn sword, the village hero just after the mystery knight and the one in winterfell; in effect we are looking at 6 seasons with these measures

now the ultimate conclusion of the dunk and egg is the incident at summerhall and the birth of rhaegar which would tie in with the main got, the problem is that there are some good incidents that should be covered here and which are a logical progression towards summerhall, like jenny of oldstones, dunk facing off against the laughing storm, and the penny wars in the stepstones

WRONG You didn't read them or you'd know D&D cut most of book 4 and 5 in favor of their fan fiction anyway, they ignored 2 massive complete books so they never actually ran out of source material, they just decided to stop using it

        Anonymous

What were they supposed to do with book 4 and 5? Ignore most of the established characters for all the new characters he introduced to stall the main story he couldn't figure out how to finish? Who would you cast for young Griff and his entourage?

    >Everywhere you look, there are more screenwriters and producers eager to take great stories and “make them their own.” It does not seem to matter whether the source material was written by Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Le Guin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Mark Twain, Raymond Chandler, Jane Austen, or… well, anyone. No matter how major a writer it is, no matter how great the book, there always seems to be someone on hand who thinks he can do better, eager to take the story and “improve” on it. “The book is the book, the film is the film,” they will tell you, as if they were saying something profound. Then they make the story their own.

    >They never make it better, though. Nine hundred ninety-nine times out of a thousand, they make it worse.

    >Once in a while, though, we do get a really good adaptation of a really good book, and when that happens , it deserves applause.

ive said it before and i will say it again
grrm has absolutely 0 intention of finishing the books, the ending of the show was so poorly received and he got so much backlash for not finishing the books i believe hes just refusing to finish it, partly because he knows people will shit on it, if the ending is the same as the show then its shit, if the end is different everyone will claim hes changed it because the show ended badly, and partly out of spite
grrm will never finish the books

the point also is that the logical conclusion to asoiaf is a scifi one, grrm has majorly written only for about the interregnum after the war between humans, hrangan and fyndii, where previous scientific outposts become stranded and end up in a bronze age civilisation and sometimes devolve into cargo cult worship

dragons come about due to the presence of a satellite orbiting planetos, dragons are stitched together by science and foisted onto normal sheep herders; also to consider is that grrm was about to write his magnus opus on the planet avalon in this 1000 worlds before he started writing got

At this point it doesn't even matter whether he wants to or not, he cannot possibly finish the series in the time that's left to him. Not on his own at any rate. Motherfricker is 75 years old. It's a small miracle he's even still alive, being the fatass that he is. No matter how good modern medicine is, it can only buy you so much time. And that's not even getting into declining mental faculties. The only thing he could do to see his life's work finished before his death is to hire a ghost writer. The path of doing it entirely on his own is closed to him now regardess of his intent.

The Shining. In fact pretty much any movie based on a Stephen King book is better than the book.

Another classic example of a Stephen King book that was better as a movie: The Green Mile. For some reason, Stephen King insisted on doing this book as a serial. So it's one story dragged out over six books. It's so terrible that it'd be forgotten except the wound up making such an incredible movie out of it.
