I think it's more that nerds have been wanting proper Jappo CV toys for years now. If there were Figmas or Figuarts of some of the main characters like Alucard, Simon and Soma, they'd probably do alright.
The Netflix show effectively replaced Castlevania in the public conscious, and it's not really the show's fault, for as bad as it was, it's Konami's for doing jackshit with the franchise for nearly a decade beyond a forgettable crossover mobile game.
I love the Netflix show. I expected Cinemaphile to have more respect for fun western versions of Eastern properties.
Should it be some dry anime? The Japanese will actually have to care for it first. There’s plenty of exceptional bad Castlevania adaptations they’ve done. Just let the West take the reigns for a while. And honestly, nothing about the dark gothic setting is remotely Asian or Japanese to begin with.
>Dracula is the "good guy" except this time he is super fricking based >Hates Turks and Islam >Dracula only keeps Isaac around because he is willing to do things that is morally beneath Hector >Isaac is black, Muslim, and unapologetically evil >Julia is good and implied to converted to Christianity >Once Isaac learns that Hector is starting to grow feelings for Julia, Isaac tries to rape and murder her just to hurt Hector
Cinemaphile doesnt like the writing for some characters in parts
Cinemaphile doesnt like any particle of this adaptation.
theres a different
go make a thread there and find out for yourself.
and Cinemaphile doesnt like that some literal who studio in texas can mimic even the more competent japanese studios in terms of production value. calling it an anime gets them raging mad.
there probably exist an example where all 3 boards hates something for the same reason equally but i cant think of it. maybe that next rick and morty spin off will do it.
>and Cinemaphile doesnt like that some literal who studio in texas can mimic even the more competent japanese studios in terms of production value.
Eh, at best it's only slightly better than an 80's GI Joe episode.
>calling it an anime gets them raging mad.
Probably because it isn't.
>maybe that next rick and morty spin off will do it.
The anime one? I dunno why, as it looks pretty decent and has a veteran studio behind the production
Like how Netflixvania Alucard is just Kojima's SotN design but dumbed down to save on animation costs, this is likely just to save on production costs. This way they don't have to sculpt his cravat or give him accessories like his fairy companion.
>soft rebooted franchise through another method has the best pull its ever been in decades
go back to your theme'd pachinko machines and slot machines. konami will continue to be what keeps the original castlevania dead but i sure hope you dont go leaping for joy when they eventually make some poorly constructed emulation collection for $60 just to keep their licensing rights updated

>costs costs
what exactly do you think this would look like if "costs" didnt matter? i sure dont see any high shaded serialized animations from any country in the past 20 years. but feel free to (you) if youve seen some animated show that was done completely in oil paints within a reasonable amount of time. Want artstyles to be high quality? get ready for panning still images and powerpoints. Want animation to be high quality? get ready for loss of detail sacrificing frames you wouldnt have even noticed the lack of unless you paused it going frame by frame. to throw powerhouse under the bus like that is really moronic thinking.
Yeah, it’s based on the current popular form of the franchise cause Konami has fricked Castlevania so hard that the show literally revived interest in the franchise after years of neglect. No shit they’ll do stuff with show version instead of the games.
>it barely gets talked about
It gets talked about a lot on other sites actually. Actual fans of the show know better than to try to talk about it on this show since it gets the religious morons all riled up.
And it's good because I've watched it and seen that it's good.
>The netflix show is pretty good despite Cinemaphiles whining
Agreed. It's not perfect, but it's still fairly well done for the type of show it is. Probably the best damn thing Frederator's done in several years. The music's shit though.
>and Cinemaphile doesnt like that some literal who studio in texas can mimic even the more competent japanese studios in terms of production value.

It actually excels that even.
What were your favorite parts in the Castlevania series, Cinemaphile?
I loved the episode during the Curse of Darkness arc where Hector comes back and sets up a perimeter of Devils to protect the town he and Rosaly lived in from Zead's forces. There's some tension there where you can't help but wonder if he's gonna leave them all to die since he's still kind of a hard-ass in this part of the show, but you also trust these writers enough to know they'd never have Hector step back and allow Death's plan to resurrect Dracula. That'd just be character assassination.
Shameful
It's what you deserve for liking Nendoroids.

But what about Figma?
I want this so badly but he is so fricking expensive in my country...
Pretty much everything from Japan has shot up in the last 2-3 years. Shipping's become exorbitantly expensive since, too.
>T.Funkogay
I guess two nukes were really not enough.

What are you expecting for a dead franchise?
>pandering to people with shittaste

Nothing about Rick and Morty isn't Gothic. It is pretty much the opposite.
You're right, people should only be permitted to do stories about their own cultures. Castlevania must now be handed over to Romanians.
Honestly, I’m all for that.
Yeah, gotta score those virtue signal points on twitter.
No? What would be wrong with Romanians adapting Castlevania for once? I’d be legitimately interested in their take.

What the frick are you talking about? What does all your inane babble have to do with Netflix Castlevania being bad?
>fun
If only.

yeah but can you frick it?
Do Japanese even watch that show?
It seems it never reached the Netflix top ten in Japan, but I guess the ten japanese Castlevania fans watched
Still can’t believe that this company owns Cinemaphile
>it's based on the fricking Netflix show
for what purpose

They probably struck a deal with Netflix, they also recently did a He-man and Skeletor nendos under the Revelation brand

The netflix show is pretty good despite Cinemaphiles whining and is pretty popular so it just makes sense.
Not really. Aside from the implication that popular = good, it barely gets talked about except for people desperate for "Western anime".

It gets talked about a lot on other sites actually. Actual fans of the show know better than to try to talk about it on this show since it gets the religious morons all riled up.

Arcane and Love Death and Robots are actually popular, CV did OK but it's nowhere a big hit
