How was she still able to talk after this?

      Should she have died here?

The stab was originally meant to be through a lung, it totally ruined it that they were imbecile enough as to change it to the middle of the chest.

And the more you think about it, the more it becomes obvious that this killed S3 possibilities, to the point that we had that terrible S3A with Anne completely shrugging with a "yeah, she is probably ok"

This was confirmed by the people working there that they received some orders from execs to not mention Marcy or show Anne worried/sad about it, so they had to hide it.

If the show was allowed to show Anne being sad when Andrias dropped Sprig out of the window, they should’ve let her be sad about Marcy too, maybe even moreso since Anne didn’t even know if Marcy was alive. The stab was even shown in season 3 in the episode Turning Point so they weren’t as scared at showing it as it seems. Aside from Disney’s interference, it honestly seems like Marcy just wasn’t all that important to Anne.

The only moment someone mentions Marcy's situation back in Amphibia is Hop Pop, he asks Anne if it's ok to not tell her parents about it, and this is before they know her, is pretty much the first 2 or 3 minutes of the first episode of season 3

Amphibia is the peak of the DTVA era, along with Gravity Falls. Everything after that is downhill for the company. Amphibia is getting an art book this year, and it charted at #1 best-selling book on Amazon.

Disney could greenlight an Amphibia movie in the future, seeing how successful and popular Amphibia has gotten lately. Matt would definitely sign another contract with Disney after he's done with his movie with Sony.

I liked Amphibia but greenlighting a movie about it by default sounds like a terrible financial decision. The show went down the tubes in the third season and even at its most popular it never reached the heights of Gravity Falls. True Colors was the most publicity it got, and that's because corporate fricked the bed on the release and everyone was trying to figure out what was going on.

I'll also say that, while I love Amphibia and have mostly contempt for Owl House, Owl House stuck the landing with its shortened third season (admittedly, because the show was already mid so it didn't really have a landing to stick).

I think the main issue with season 3 is that it basically killed the pacing of the show by moving it to Los Angeles from the world of Amphibia.
        >Season One
No underlying conflict or stakes,Anne integrates with Wartwood and we get more glimpses of the setting.
        >Season Two
On the road, we learn more about Amphibia, introduced to various important characters. There's a rising tension about Sasha and the toads and the King who is not what he seems. It ends with a clear conflict established: Andrias planning to conquer and invade, Marcy stabbed and the Plantars + Anne forced to Earth.
        >Season 3
We go back to the season 1 interaction with the setting and characters. But the issue is that now we have a very clear conflict and stakes. And these characters minus Anne's parents are ultimately so disconnected from the main setting of the show that it feels wasteful to even interact with them.

No one else pointed this out yet but this is far from the first time this has happened to a DTVA show. Same thing happened to Gargoyles, Big Hero 6, Tangled, and I think SW Rebels.
The second season finale will be very dramatic and end on a downer note that indicates the status quo and tone of the series will shift moving forward... only for the third season to ignore the consequences and revert back to the light tone so they can continue to have more episodic adventures.

Trying to view things from an executive's pov, if you have an episode that will possibly make the audience distressed, that audience being toddlers and little kids, and your clients are the parents of those kids that pay a subscription to your streaming service to keep their offspring at bay while they work or live their life, then I too would say "frick it, make some kid-friendly slop".
Ultimately, you do the things that pay the bills. Of course it would have been better if the events of the S2 finale had consequences in the third season, but you got a high stakes two episodes finale that will probably be aired only in a time slot where the parents are present with their kids, and some episodes that probably won't be aired often, if at all. I'm not sure, I didn't check how many times they aired "the Core and the King" after the first run.
But that's a share of the cake. The rest goes to Disney, where they get something kid-friendly to air, no matter what it is.

I wouldn't say that, however I wouldn't turn it into an Angst Fest either so I'd have some breather/cooldown episodes "kid-friendly slop" sprinkled in throughout. I'm not gonna sugarcoat or downplay the consequences/stakes, but I'm not gonna constantly bang those into the viewer's skulls either.

That would be the sane thing to do. I just think that the slop is safer, because I imagine there would be at least a vocal minority of parents who would complain that their kids developed feelings and emotions which must be explained by a caregiver to make sense to them. And while this is precisely one of the duties of a good parent, it's just more work. And people work enough as it is.
I'd like to give more credits to kids though. And I'd like for parents to do their job.

The slop is safer yes. But it ultimately does a disservice to the narrative that at point had been on a roll in terms of drama and pathos. And if a vocal minority of parents complain I'm giving them more work to do, so be it. Toss their complaints in the trash. I definitely agree kids deserve more credit and that the parents should do their job and take accountability.

We are talking about money, work and products. As long as a product does it's work and makes enough money, why I should take a risk? Who cares about the narrative, if there was a movie made of a random sequence of images, that for some reason sells like hotcakes and is safe against controversies, I'd take that over any cartoon.
Speaking as a person who has money as their only interest, of course.

Like what? How well it worked with Gravity Falls? Or look there's still gonna be much episodic content, yes a tad less than before?

                Anonymous

I don't remember Gravity Falls perfectly, but was it ever at the same level of controversy as Amphibia and Owl House? It had some scary episodes, but iirc they were mostly episodes of the second (and final) season. And some things are more acceptable than others, which is the reason why violence is allowed against robots but it becomes problematic against humans. Or why magically taking away the teeth from a deer (but putting them back after) didn't doom the second season of GF to be sanitized, while Andrias pulling an Aerith on Marcy was probably too much.
Also, about stakes, they work by the audience not knowing if things will end badly or not. And iirc, one of the rules of children media is "kids can see scary things as long as everything is ok at the end". And that is probably why the network imposed to the Amphibia team to show Marcy in the tank in the end credits of the S2 finale. Kids must know that there's hope. Or at least people don't wanna say to their kids "yeah, nothing you can do about it".
About the episodic content, I guess it's up to the network to define how much is enough for them.

I rewatched Amphibia recently and S3 actually had the most story progression out of all the seasons right off the bat, they're constantly looking for a way to go back with immediate results and some eps directly continue on to each other. The issue was that it was severely lacking in the drama and pathos department coming from True Colors, which really sours the premise of returning to Earth in the first place.

Man, I love this scene but it was left nothing but as a shock value and now the only way I can justify this is that Anne is not a trauma character or she just didn't care for Marcy which it's really not true considered Marcy at the Gates episode and the only way to know Anne's feelings about Marcy and the stab is reading Marcy's journal which it feels wrong.
And yet Marcy does nothing or even interacts with Anne in S3 at all, not even her resolution in The Core's mind did anything in the fight against Sasha.

It does feel wrong that we don't know Anne's feelings about Marcy without reading Marcy's Journal. You'd figured we would've gotten at least one moment where Anne's Inner thoughts shown in Marcy's Journal became external. Like i don't know when she's telling everything to her parents.

Animated series never ever, though it'd be amazing to have a period piece set in the 90s.

Did we ever find out why they delayed the episodes release (it got leaked by Apple or sony or something anyways). Where they gonna censor this or put a warning up or what

They probably would’ve censored it honestly, but because of the leak they couldn’t so they put up the warning. Also probably why season 3 was so safe for the first half.

I always thought that The Core chose Marcy in order to get the Calamity powers like in the Prophecy, that would make a lot of sense instead of choosing Marcy because she is smart, specially when they already have the smartest minds of Amphibia.
The Core choosing a weak hurt 13 year old girl doesn't seem very safe, specially when cutting a cord was enough to defeat The Core instead of going suicidal at the end.
The giant eye ball robot in the back felt better for defense than Marcy.
