We recognized him and kind of nodded his way but didn't say anything, just finished up the joint and lit it, he actually started the conversation with us by saying "y'all some sexy motherfrickers huh? Are you in a band or what?"
He seemed like a decent enough guy, probably abused and handled by Hollywood hard. He smoked our joint with us and offered us his dab pen. He spoke about the people around (literally walking past us lol) with money who wouldn't even acknowledge our presence with great contempt, seemed genuinely interested in how we live traveling and bumming, his girlfriend was with him and came outside a few minutes after Shia but she stayed off to the side, when we were telling Shia about the lax living trim scene he turned to her and was like 'See what, what was I telling you? like he'd been talking to her about alternative ways of living already.
At some point some old black guy walking past did a double take and was like holy shit Shia can I get a picture etc etc making a scene, Shia was like 'nah i'm with my girl just trying to enjoy our night man,' but then changed his mind immediately and was like 'aw what the frick man get in here' and let the guy get a selfie but people walking past were starting to notice the crowd now so we dipped to not make too much of a scene while Shia tried to creep back into the bar with his girl. Apparently Shia stayed out the rest of the night though, getting drunk and visiting all sorts of groups of bum/travelers up and down the Haight lol. Bigger irl than expected
