Deviants are genetically unstable and occasionally go out of control and the Eternals are forced to put them down by the machine. Druig is declaring that the X-gene is a form of genetic instability and the recent resurrection is them over stepping
I'm pretty it directly stated deviants breeding with humans led to mutants evolving. Which was by Celestial design. But not an entire planet (Arrako).

I did too. It was a pretty good book. I'm looking forward to this. I know Empyre wasn't any kind of revolutionary storytelling but I liked it for being a solid adventure and not doing something awful. Hopefully it turns out like that.

I read the most recent one, and I can't describe how disappointing it was. Sersi trying to grandstand about Eternals being the landlords of Earth after the Eternals got so BTFO'd about the Celestials' intent for them that they literally started beating up a dead Celestial's ghost rings hollow.
Keep in mind while this was happening the ACTUAL Celestials were visiting Odin's funeral over in Thor.
It was conceived to push the Eternals after the movie, when they all thought it was going to be a huge hit. Rather than abort the plans, they doubled down and gave the Eternals writer Keiron Gillen an X-Book (Immortal X-Men) which basically is the new flagship X-Book that ties into the crossover.
It's just a blow off for the Eternals book since they have nothing outside the event solicited. Also might be ending the resurrection thing since it's big topic in the event and multiple books.

Superhero comics constantly have them fighting one another. It's nothing new or exclusive to the X-Men.
At least only the "bad" Eternals like Druig have gone genocidal, while "good" Eternals like Ikaris and Sersi will ally with the Avengers and X-Men.

They're the bad guys in this event, although only guys like Druig, Ikaris and friends are against what the rest of their people are doing.
As far as I'm concerned Eternals have been straight up villains for more than a decade. To be fair I consider the Avengers and X-Men to be villains too by now.
