It's a Venture Bros wannabe. The writing isn't comparable in quality at all. You really really need to like the goofy characters a lot or this thing falls flat. The atmosphere? The music? The story? The comedy. Passable at best. You also need to accept that they'll paint most of the men as absolute degenerates and in a negative light, occasionally throwing a ball at Batman or something to say "You're pretty badass" before making him a destructive dumbass again. In terms of overall quality? It's in the middle of the steep valley between Velma and Venture Bros.

The music in the show is one thing I consistently like. My favorite touch is when a character's leitmotif plays over the opening production card and you know exactly who you're about to see at the start of the episode. I like how Harley's theme sounds derived from Joker's but less circusy and more punky. I generally like all the character's themes and the variations that play in different situations. I feel like the music deserves a better show.
It very much feels like an attempt by people who only have cliffnotes for characters and trying to deconstruct them. In alot of ways it reminds me mostly of that batman: white knight comic that has the joker become this paragon of good and he does a better job of cleaning up gotham than batman did but everytime he does something morally questionable it's just ignored or swept under the rug.
That's how I feel about this show. Despite killing characters off alot, it remarkably plays everything extremely safe and rarely does it take characters in a different direction.
Season 5 is setting up a Nightwing/Jason Todd thing so, I hope they don't make him into Red Hood and instead turn him into the Arkham Knight.
I hope they have him frick Harley.
