You just gotta crack that first "no experience" barrier somehow, then everything gets easier. Use any (ethical) means necessary to crack that first barrier, including networking, being willing to pay for less than market rate, or anything else you can think of. Once you get your foot in the door things open up and get easier.

Yeah, this part from The Edge with Anthony Hopkins got me through some rough times:
    >Charles Morse : You know, I once read an interesting book which said that, uh, most people lost in the wilds, they, they die of shame.
    >Stephen : What?
    >Charles Morse : Yeah, see, they die of shame. "What did I do wrong? How could I have gotten myself into this?" And so they sit there and they... die. Because >they didn't do the one thing that would save their lives.
    >Robert Green : And what is that, Charles?
    >Charles Morse : Thinking.

Whats the message? Shame is unhelpful and stops you from actually brainstorming solutions? How do you not feel shame? How do you stop being bothered by shame when you no longer have any strength or will left within you to resist it?

You have to realize that you cannot change the past, it's impossible. To improve your situation you have to come to grips with the actual reality that you are in right now and try to figure out ways to improve it. You can't change the past, but you CAN change the present and the future. Shame is a normal human emotion but it's one that you can't afford in times of crisis. It's a misplaced focus on something you can't change. To actually improve things you have to put the focus on things that you CAN change.

My shame doesn't come from bad things I've done in the past. It comes from being made to feel shame by people around me for things that I don't consider worthy to be ashamed of. Despite knowing at some level that this shame is not warranted, I still feel it. And I can't just brush it off anymore like I used to because I've crossed my threshold for how much I can cope with emotionally. Because I no longer have the mental fortitude to resist it. I began working out, and over time while I've grown physically stronger, I've become mentally weaker. The things that I can change are not things that are going to improve my situation. Working out being case in point.

Would getting away from people who make you feel ashamed improve your situation?

I can get away from them physically but I can no longer escape them in my mind. I don't know how to describe this other than using metaphors/allegories, but my inner sanctuary has been invaded. Its all ruined on the inside. And I don't know how to repair it. I don't know if I can. Don't see the point in doing anything anymore and that scares me. Never before this point did I ever feel like nothing matters. I do now somehow, I didn't think it was possible for me to reach this point.
