Literally what's the point of private trackers? Genuinely asking, I've only fiddled with public ones and they just werk.

the only good thing about private trackers is everything is pretty much guaranteed to have seeds

        >use Jackett
        >public tracker has torrent with no seeds

I bet private trackers are mostly about the private club feel.

but do they have as many torrents as public sites?
Also, why don't the private torrents leak outside?
You'd think someone would share them

        Anonymous

Yeah, this is also why some public websites now feature private, paid CDNs for discrete downloads, instead of constantly dealing with random reup requests, but even those are limited in scope. I know I certainly would've liked to ask people I knew were active to help seed old non-Toei Spandex Tokusatsu for me, as some that looked genuinely interesting were long since dead on public trackers.

PTP has better organization than any site I've used for movies. The user created lists are great for finding new films. Netflix used to have these too way back but they took them out. I cancelled my sub shortly after that.

That's about it. If you're happy with FOTM YIFY Marvel shit then you have no need for private trackers.

It's for MILD convenience that in this day and age isn't even outweighed by the pain in the ass that is maintaining a ratio and getting invited in the first place.
For instance, i just use qbittorrent search and find what im looking for. There's so many public trackers i will definitely get it. If the movie doesn't have subtitles attatched, i just click on vlsub in vlc and it will find them. Private trackers generally have all that shit in the file so there's no hassle, but the hassle is meaningless nowadays bc getting movies has never been easier. Speeds are also pretty much guaranteed to be good with priv trackers, but again even at its worst with public ones im not waiting more than an hour for it to download. And even then i can just download it sequentially and watch it while its downloading

I'm not on PtP coz the requirements to get in are fricking absurd, but i'm on a few other less autistic trackers coz often i cannot find shit i am chasing publicly. Avistaz is an absolute goldmine for eg.

Such films usually don't have blurays and even the best quality version looks pretty shitty. And let's not even talk about subtitles as they are often made by amateurs and suck wiener.

I imagine private trackers are useful if you're some weirdo or pervert who likes obscure horror movies or those Japanese softcore porn movies with torture and rape (pinku something whatever).

I said non remux. 50k is 20gb which is a standard 4k. And I don’t watch capeshit so I’m seeding is very touch and go because no one’s downloading Ordet everyday. So you have to go out of your way to get FL just to seed it and never watch and that’s the only way you can really stay remotely in ratio.

And nah, I stash them on a HD to watch on the TV. It’s not like I don’t seed I’m just saying between electric and computer wear, the only option is a seed box with a script to auto DL or somehow be an uploader which I’m not motivated or connected enough for.

PTP is very generous with bonus points, especially if there are few seeders. And you sit at home browsing Cinemaphile all day every day anyway, you shouldn't need to keep your PC on longer than you normally do.

I have dozens of terabytes of buffer through normal usage, PTP and BTN are basically freeleech paradise. But if you're a minmax autist you can get a raspberry pi and an external hard drive to seed 24/7 with a low power bill.

It's easier to get older, more obscure films because people will keep seeding old shit to keep their ratio up, that's about the only upside. In my experience, most of the time a public tracker will do, privategays just want to brag about their secret little elite club where they can download films from the 40's that they won't watch anyway.

If you never watch any movies with less than 10k logs on letterboxd then you don't need it, but if you're interested in any kind of semi-obscure cinema it's an amazing resource.

When I will finish all the popular stuff I will think of it. So far I never had any problems finding the stuff I wanted to watch. The biggest problem is the lack of seeds or large size of some files. I just want to watch a movie and then delete it and yet I'm forced to download a 25 GB BDremux.
7-12 GB is the ideal size for me.

I guess some rare festival movies are hard to find, but I'm not sure if they are even worth watching in the first place.

I was only ever on THC (PBUH) and I almost never used it, but the people were nice and helped me get my torrenting shit together

There is nothing on private trackers, nothing! Don't you and the rest of the public worry about it. Just forget they exist.

Keep that [streaming service] subscription going.

How do you guys decide what to download, how much bitrate and size does it be etc, or do you guys just smash remuxes all day

Honestly I just look at the screenshots to compare them.

Remuxes are a safe option, but otherwise you should avoid scene group releases since they automate their encoding process.

4K remuxes for stuff I love, 4k non-scene for middle of the road, 1080 if no higher source exists. I almost don’t care as long as it’s over 1080. I see the matrix in line and light anyway

    t. Analyze movies and have a folder of my fav shots
