this isn't even close to being Lars worst movie and I don't think you've seen his entire filmography if you think this is the case. Manderlay, Boss of It All and The Element of crime are all clearly worse and it's not even up for debate.
Nymphomaniac is his weakest. It has all his bad habits and not enough philosophical substance nor moralising message, besides "sex is bad if you overdo it". Then again people still get filtered by nymphomaniac so I guess no matter how blunt the message is some people still miss it.

The reveal that hell does indeed exist physically and emits a high pitch sound able to be detected (which is the condensed cries of billions of souls) is chilling. I could go on and on, like for instance the last set of murders in which he wants to kill many tied people with a full metal jacket bullet and how it is presented in a comedic fashion. The way the camera is used as a tool for storytelling...Truly a horror /dark humor masterpiece if not for trier's occasional fart sniffing. Unironically one my top 5 favs
