I think a lot of the shows have tried to play off elements from CW and Rebels, and yes because Filoni was heavily involved in those and is most familiar with them, but I dont think its a bad thing. I personally dont think its done so much that its over the top.
Because he's the closest thing George ever had to a protege (and in Filoni's defence, he does clearly try to emulate George's style and ideas, he just does it poorly), and the vast majority of the fans who still stick with Disney Wars are those who grew up with and/or love The Clone Wars. So Filoni gets a pass based on those two factors alone, no matter how lacklustre, cartoonish, and navel-gazing his idea of storytelling ultimately is.
