    Tim Heidecker is my hero.

He attacks middle class narcissists who can not handle any type of criticism or make comedy that comes from a place of self depreciation.

Meanwhile he's been making comedy for 10+ years and has never made a skit that is self deprecating and he mishandles criticism to the point where he's only focused on hating white middle and lower class men that vote conservative out of fear.

but he is a middle class narcissist, so it is a form of self-deprecation, and he doesn't have an agenda, he is just poking fun at a place he is coming from, tacky 90s corporate culture and similar trends that his old brain can comprehend 30 years later

You know you're a shitty comedian when you have to guilt the audience for more applause. A comedian worth anything draws up natural enthusiasm from the audience or doesn't care if his material fails to connect.

Norm Macdonald would happily bomb and didn't give a damn if he did.

          Anonymous

Norm may not like it but he is proto-anti comedy. He influenced people like Green and Heidecker with his style, and if it werent for his abilitiy to make people laugh just by talking his entire premise of "long winded joke with a terrible (corny on purpose) punchline" is what most would consider anti-comedy. He has this idea that anti comedy can't have a punchline and is only a meta joke on stand up itself but he is wrong.

  13. 2 years ago

    Something I realize
is that there was always a correction/ over correction flow with mainstream comedy.
To some regard executives and producers that made PC bullshit in the mid 90s would get taunted by independent filmmakers in the 00s for not having the "balls" to make an edgey film.

Now those producers don't even have jobs. And women are essentially in control of everything that is greenlit. Even if an edgey comedy is pitched by a guy it can get vetoed by women at the studio pretty easily.

The only way anything smart or edgey could get made is if it's done independently. And the creators of CUMTOWN are loaded but they give 0 shits about making their own studio/etc

We get it, but women have already ruined stand up that theres no reason to make a satire of it, its already a parody of itself

      Anonymous

When noticeably narcissistic people attempt satire it comes across differently. Like it's oddly devoid of levity. Like Alec Baldwin's impressions of Trump on SNL. In these instances it seems less like satire and more like an obsession with the target they're trying to lampoon. You can still dislike Trump but see certain ways he is genuinely humorous, and work those into the satire to make the scene more comedic but still critical of him, but they don't see this, and they don't want to. Because it's an attack first and foremost.

Bu Heidecker built his career on antihumor. And now that he left that spot vacant he's just acting like a boomer gatekeeper ensuring nobody else can fill it, using some vague "muh alt-right chudmedian!!!!" justification, while making some cringe standup about yelling "SHUD THE FUG UP :DDDD" at the opera.
Sam Hyde is most certainly a fricking dickhead and not someone I'd want as a friend, but World Peace was very funny and got cancelled for purely political reasons.

why cant you gays just accept that world peace was cancelled because sam is a troll and they didnt want him trolling the network, you dont need to agree with their decision but why deny these facts. the fact that sam refusing to accept responsibility is the sole reason why everyone turned on tim just goes to show how much of a grifter he is

Sam probably would've been cancelled anyway regardless, especially after the israelite Rock bit, he was kinda asking for it. But the fact that Tim front ran that and intentionally set it up as a power play marked him as a corporate rat frick for life. He officially turned into a suit when it happened, and you can never correct the record on that.

I dont really see how? Sam basically called in to his podcast once and started accusing him of getting his show cancelled, its not like Tim personally claimed responsibility for it, he was just defending himself. I will say as a fan of tim i really wish he wouldnt get so invested in politics because he's really bad at articulating his points and he's much better at satirizing conservative politics like in Decker

eh, you cant really compare them, world peace made fun of 2010's-era television and t+e made fun of 2000/90's era free to air television, and they both had pretty different approaches
