These movies are like listening to that teenage emo punk goth girl talk about her hobbies outside of school like photography and shit. Fricking boring and soulless.
it was disappointing. this movie would have been better if it didn't completely undermine itself by presenting it as a movie within a movie within a movie
That's what made me not watch it. What's wrong with just a cozy story about a small desert town and aliens? It's annoying when Wes Anderson stuffs himself that far up his own ass.
Because you can get so much more across with the meta narrative. It's ultimately not about the small town or the aliens, it's about the people and work that goes into creating those things. It's also Wes Anderson at his most critical. Seems like you missed it.
Grand Budapest Hotel is a perfect film and Wes' style has nowhere else to go but downhill from there.
Unless he changes tacks he'll just make more crap like Asteroid City.
Agree. It’s undisputedly his best, even though I may like Darjeeling or Tenenbaums more. Its peak of his technical talent while still retaining the emotional core of what makes his better earlier movies appealing. He’s strayed away from that latter bit too much in his recent stuff, or worse, just really can’t get there anymore as a writer.
Yeah. Life Aquatic is my favorite but Grand Budapest is objectively much better put together.
His staging has always been good but it's pretty insane what he coordinates to keep it in camera by Grand Budapest.
Just finished watching this, what a funny coincidence. It was good, but not great, and owes all of its charm and success singularly to Ralph Fiennes. Otherwise it's typical Wes Anderson in his latter period: charming but shallow and the barest sign of a thematic undercurent to give the impression of meaning.

The irony is that you sound even gayer than that.
Are you now or have you ever been a homosexual?
GBH is fantastic, it's his best film. There are plenty of wes Anderson movies to criticize, but this isn't one.
lol basically my mom
she loves the kinos of wes anderson except the latest two movies which sucked ass assteroid shitty was especially bad
Can I get her number?
probably in the mid hundreds, she seems like a prostitute
Why'd he get himself killed over some gypo?
Because he was his dear friend
Not in the 1st instance though?
thanks for spoiler
It's ok.
It's his best. I've seen it 5 times.

I agree. Saorise a qt
Hotels must have been wild in those days
Impressive. Very nice.

Was getting those digits part of your plan?
Not as wild as those digits
Holy shit!
What was he THINKING

Magyar cigany
this is Wes's best film.
Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums are better.
Watched it in my favorite theatre that got closed down like 7 years ago.

I associate Budapest with hardcore porn since some website I found in the early 2000s was Budapest incest porn videos, like twin sisters and what not
fell asleep during this one
I really love the Benedict Cumberbatch / Roald Dahl short stories on netflix though
Easily his best movie.
