People were theorizing that he was trying to buff up Japan's national sport and make it seem like they're real contenders. Then they all job horribly. I mean one can imagine it's a swift reaction to comments on the story since this Sumo Arc feels like fricking Namek. Kureha's buildup was especially painful so seeing his destruction at the hands of a master kareteka was satisfying though it was brutal.
So yeah I think Itagaki is just shitting on the sumos because they're not grapplers and just getting them all out of the way. I don't trust Oliva to not body Sukune back to the hospital. And if that happens I wonder who's gonna be third up at bat to get a crack at him. Or even better: What the frick is going to happen with Jack calling out Baki.
Honestly I think he just got bored halfway through. He went from cavemen and motherfricking Musashi to Sumo. He finally acknowledged how shitty the premise is. Sumo just turned out to be a remake of the Ali Jr arc. He did the Jack tease because that's the next arc he wants to get to, only he has no clue on how to transition out of Sumo in a natural way. He made Keyaha to try and breathe some life into the arc, but he was too much of a meme character and just jobbed hard. We're pretty much in the final stretch now, Sukune should be going through his final developments now.

No, the cloest thing to a "draw" we see is against Musashi, who managed to injure Yujirou but nearly cutting his head off, but Musashi also gets fricked up with a kick to the nuts and the fight ends with no winner due to Motobe jumping in.

It's not exactly a straight loss. Baki does actual damage to Pickle, and scares him. Baki is the first opponent who Pickle doesn't see as prey, so he uses a kind of martial art skill, which most of the main fights all agree makes Baki the winner, because Pickle had to use a trick to beat Baki. That said, Pickle is the one standing by the end of the fight.
After fighting pickle he will have a real fight with his dad. We see how crazy strong Baki is by this point. He loses the actual fight, BUT pushes his dad harder than anyone to that point. Even manages to knock his dad out and do some damage. Yuji tells Baki he is his son, and is the only one who can give him a good fight, they have a little bit of a bonding scene, and Baki shares the title of worlds strongest with his Dad now. After this fight, we enter the MUSASHI arc, which no one is ready for.
