Holy shit

So I just saw Furiosa and everyone who is shitting on it is an idiot. The level of gravedancing on this film after the poor box office performance is just utterly pathetic, and the people who were and continue rooting for it to be a failure desperately need to reevaluate their priorities and personal hangups. You didn't score some kind of win against wokeness, the only thing that's going to come from the movie's poor box office is that less good movies get made. The movie wasn't even woke at all. It was actually like an inverse Fury Road in the sense that far more focus and cool moments are given to male characters. I guess things are just too far gone with the culture war. and people just instinctively lash out at x,y,z. I will also say that I can't think of a single subgenre that has a higher batting average for quality than motorcycle club (MC) content.

If you watched the movie and came out with a "literally nothing happens" take you are basically a single step removed from being brain dead. An almost ridiculous amount of things happen. Movie is a straight up classic.

Hi, George Miller. Should’ve gotten Mel Gibson for Fury Road. “Old Max” would have been more compelling against the backdrop.

Frick off, literally nobody wants to see geriatric mad max.

I would gladly watch old-Max beat some flamboyant gang leader to death with a sawed-off because he just wants some peace and quiet, before heading back home and sitting in his rocking chair.
Of course that's not how it'd go. He'd be a bumbling old fool who would inevitably "pass the torch" to some vitriolic spiteful c**t that we're supposed to root for because she's not a man. That's how these things usually go.

Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Ghostbusters already did that exact same thing off the top of my head.
I'm out of optimism for filmmakers who created heroes 40 years ago, Miller would do it in a heartbeat for an easy check, and Furiosa's flop couldn't be a better setup for a nosedive.

Those were also all made by nobodies. George Miller is still the only person who's ever made a Mad Max movie.

You are literally r3ddit for letting your preconceived bullshit cause you to have tunnel vision. Furiosa is legitimately up there with the all time great action movies. It's much better than Fury Road and anyone shitting on it either A) hasn't seen it or B) is an absolute and utter tastelet of biblical proportions.

nta but they're very different movies despite the setting. FR is just one big action scene, Furiosa is all lore. I can see preferring one or the other as just a matter of taste

Fricking masterpiece, a other one from Miller who has made nothing but bangers, even the ones about fricking talking pigs and penguins, and wienersucking homosexuals still don't see it. Furiosa was great, GREAT

It's actually strange that the same people who went to see Fury Road and loved it refuse to see this movie. It's not some cash-grab or reboot, it's literally the same vision by the same dude who made Fury Road. Totally puzzling.

I don't get it either. I think Mad Max just isn't a big brand anymore, modern normies don't know what it is. They know what Bad Boys is

I really liked it, and I was sad that I was one of three people in my theater.

The motorcycle chariot thing was great, Gas Town in chaos was great, the history man was great- his narration about the Forty-Day Wasteland War. Dementus was a great, too. It was a very cool movie, my favorite of the past few years alongside Mad God.

I did really like this part. The dogs chewing on human bones and the people strung up by the gate was cool.

I thought the part with the paramotors vs the truck was a very good action scene and so was the quarry (bullet town?) but otherwise the movie was bad.

I cared about Furiosa, Praetorian Jack, and Dementus. I cared about Furiosa's mom too. They were all cool and interesting. I didn't like Furiosa in Fury Road either.

One of the main things I loved about Fury Road is that it just throws you instantly into this unhinged world where everyone's speaking a disorientating slang, and you have to intuit what's going on until incidental details and language association give you clues as to what's going on. The bizarre gimmicky camera tricks actually do a good job conveying this strange world where everyone's a bit insane by our standards.
I enjoyed Furiosa but it was such a let-down to discover that it's a very conventional narrative with tons of lore, and it kind of spoils the mystique of places like Gastown and the Bullet Farm to have them be explored. I wish they'd have used that approach to focus on more original characters rather than fleshing out the ones from Fury Road.
