"No, I hope it's about the domestic issues of Miles and Keiko O'Brien!"

People were so bored in the 90s they actually watched this.

DS9 was better than B5, bland characters compared to Cardassian goats like Dukat and Garak

Those shows had a large number of episodes (173 for DS9) so there's going to be some filler. The sad thing is that most shows now have only a small number of episodes, take years off between seasons, and still end up with tons of filler.

the 12 episode seasons are down to 10 now and they split them into half seasons. 1 episode setting up a season, 8 eps of filler, final ep setting up for the next season promising content which will be more filler. and somehow it all costs 10x what shows used to

10? Try 8 every two years.
        >But episodes are 60 minutes instead of 45!
Don’t care. I miss my comfy bottle episodes. The ones that focus on character dynamics over stopping inter galactic threats.

      Shows then:
      >Between 20-30 episodes per season
      >Each episode was self-contained, even in a show with an overarching plot. The only episodes where the main problem wasn't solved by the credits were two-parters
      >Time for little slice-of-life moments at the start/end that didn't go long enough to get tedious, but multiplied by the number of episodes made it feel like the characters had lives outside of their job
      >Good episodes were good, bad episodes were bad and you could generally just skip them without missing anything

      Shows now:
      >Each season is one story
      >But the plot is really just a two-hour movie stretched into eight or so hour-long episodes
      >Characters are forever in the middle of the plot, there is little/no "characters grab a beer and relax" scenes unless they're leading up to a twist. Characters are always on the clock
      >Episodes all blend together, so you'll get some of your favorite parts of the season right next to some time-wasting dreck
      >Plot grinds to a halt for the obligatory DEI character(s) to shine and emasculate a man, counter the privilege of a white, expose the hypocrisy of a Christian, praise the strength of a black/gay/woman in an unjust world, etc.

bajoran religion was uber gay and could've been spiced up by more vengeful and malicious action by the wormhole aliens

Essentially the bar was lower in terms of expectations and people would wait for things to get better. But it's not a good show. I mean the network literally turned down the Babylon 5 pitch and then immediately make this shit copy (right down to including the stuff specifically mentioned to not be included in Babylon 5 like one and done resolutions and annoying kids). Anyone that defends it only does so out of brand loyalty.

If it has either Kai Winn or Cardassians in it, unironically yes.
    > I hope it's about the domestic issues of Miles and Keiko O'Brien!
Ok yeah those suck and I skip them on rewatch every time.
