HotDBros... Why does HBO keep letting this Fricking guy do this?

HotDBros... Why does HBO keep letting this Fricking guy do this? Nobody enjoys not being able to see Shit or having to turn up the brightness and making it look stupid.

https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/house-of-the-dragon-viewers-outraged-scenes-too-dark-1235391259/

>“Game of Thrones” fans might have experienced déjà vu while watching the seventh episode of HBO’s prequel series “House of the Dragon,” which resulted in outrage from many fans over several scenes being too dark to see. “Thrones” ignited similar backlash during its final season, especially for the dimly-lit battle episode “The Long Night.” Both that episode and Episode 7 of “House of the Dragon” were directed by Emmy winner Miguel Sapochnik.

>As many fans took to Twitter to express their frustration over “House of the Dragon” being too dark to see, one of HBO’s social media accounts went public defending the dark moments in the episode as “an intentional creative decision.”

Frick this Miguel Sapochnik guy.

Shame. GoT had pure coom bait from the very beginning to the last season. I’ll never forget that thick hooker’s booba jiggling and her fat ass as she says “that’s brave” and shoves Bronn over and mounts him.

OP is entirely correct, the lighting here serves no purpose, it's beyond unnatural, physics breaking in places. The camera work also adds to the feeling for me, that this is set in a world where everyone is partially sighted.

One of the big issues is that a lot of compression used by cable/streaming providers around the world isn't calibrated for dark content. There are less colors. So the images look especially worse.

I watched it in 4K on a big TV. The image was very flat.

The mistake is production not actually understanding how most people watch the content. It probably looks great in the production office, but that isn't the format the viewer is watching.
