I'm an autistic incel and I've never watched a single one of their videos, I guess they make me "seethe" just because their fanbase are so annoying and shilly.

Movies suck now, and it's too expensive. It's not even shitty rude audience members, that's always been a thing. No one can afford the product, and when they can, they find out they got gypped. Hollywood is out of touch, it's all gonna break.

They’re so fricking lazy now. They make an absolute killing off Patreon alone and all they do is review movies nobody has ever heard of and never planned to watch. Then you look back and they used to review anything that came out to theaters. Channel is fricking garbage now.

I agree, they should make more videos about the gender politics of the fast and the furious movies

Mike got around all of these groups by saying theaters should hype up acclaimed underground films.

Yeah I like how they use 3 fights and the same one twice just to avoid showing all the nogs fighting, but they give like 70 news stories about theaters closing.

I hated when Mike was talking about graveyards and had to clarify specifically that WESTERN burial traditions are cringe and useless, literally counting out everything else. How much more blatant can you get?

I remember when they used to be honest and accurate with their perspectives, but Mike just comes off as completely out of touch and disingenuous these days. He doesn't want to bring up the obvious social/political stuff surrounding movies in the current year, which is a huge part of why people are just simply fed up and done.

    >movie distributers change the rules
    >have to show a movie X amount of times for a theatre company to get the movie
    >that means its less feasible to have movie theatres of 2000 seats and you need more cookie cutter movie theatres of like 300 seats so you can have multiple screens to boost # of shows to please distributors.
    >my towns historic movie theatre that could hold 20% of the entire town at one point had to be subdivided into soulless 300 seat theatres
    >almost every movie theatre is the same now
i will never not be saddened by this. frick you whoever did this

I think it's weird that Mike points out that there's a place for collective experience types of showings like people being hyped for Marvel movies or girls all wanting to sing along to the Eras tour and then doesn't bring up niche types of theatres like Alamo drafthouse that a) serves real food and b) offers gimmicky sing alongs and quote a thons for classic films, not to mention the classic Rocky Horror shows that at least used to be common at dollar/community theatres. There's something to be said about reworking the movie format to be more interactive/engaging and offering a unique experience in that manner

    old way:
    >buy a movie ticket
    >see a movie

    new way:
    >go through basically Ticketmaster but for the local kinoplex
    >pay extra processing fee
    >on mailing list forever even if you opt out

Any theater that doesn't have this is a shithole and miserable experience, or a very isolated small town.

lmao you should listen to the smiling friends guys’ podcast mike comes across as kind of a desperate c**t when he recorded lines for the first ep of that show. he repeatedly said he didn’t get the joke or humour and kept trying to alter lines to add his own weird unfunny shit in about elderly people falling over or people yelling about aids. when they talked him down he was still trying to get pointless lines in and then slightly rewording lines pointlessly when that didn’t work. at one point he substituted “explode” for “blow up” and then said he should get a writing credit. apparently this was actually a bit of a thing and since he said he contributed generally to the jokes and writing as well as this specific pointless dialogue change he should be credited as a writer and that this would actually BENEFIT the show and give it prestige having “someone who already made it” attached to the script of the episode. he said since he had made movies and “world famous” videos it would add production value. he also kept bringing up his spitballs idea and saying it would be goldmine for adult swim to make a cartoon about him, that the first people to pick up on the saleability of their best of the worst stuff would make bank. the funniest thing was that apparently he asked zach and the smiling friends team to work on his spitballs shit for free and had no conception of the process of animation and how long it takes, he came across like he didn’t think it was a serious job and they basically scribbled shit in their spare time so they be could just knock out a whole series for him as a favour for him gracing their show in their spare time. he still apparently emails them every episode of spitballs that comes out expecting they’ll pass it on to cartoon network
