If you have owned a television at any point after 2012 you are the problem. I realized this in 2016 after having one sitting aimlessly on my mantle for several years just so I could occasionally watch The Mummy, Event Horizon, or the first few seasons of Fargo off my laptop via HDMI cable. Having a television in your home is like having a rat israelite in your home.

You're not replying to me but I disagree. ASOIAF does have black and brown people, it has gays, lesbians and even hermaphrodites which is as close to a troony as we can get in this setting. No one has an issue with "representation", it's when it breaks the world building that everyone complains. Sure some will always cry about a single black guy but they'd be shut down by everyone else for crying about Jalabhar Xho being in GOT. D&D actually cut basically all the book canon "diversity" for dumb race swaps which everyone hates because they mess up the story.
We could've had diversity without the Velaryon raceswap. Black Trombo and his Myrish sellswords could've been brought to life. Sandoq the Shadow would've been a fan favourite in later seasons if they did the Regency. We could've had Qoren Martell, Craghas Drahar, Racallio Ryndoon
        >he cross dresses btw
We could've had some OC characters in a Triarchy subplot before it evolves into the Daughters War in the Regency seasons where it's a blank canvas and you could bring Black Trombo back into play.
Making the Velaryons black was moronic and a sign of the writers having wanton disregard for the world building. Sure, the people who ONLY complain about the race swaps are probably crybabies who hate seeing anyone darker than pink on screen but some of us are just pointing out how dumb it all is.

          >Going out of their way creatively to make a story for black people to make sense in when they can just race swap a major character and call it a day

            Anonymous

Yh but I gave some off the cuff examples in previous threads back when season 1 aired. Black Trombo was perfectly positioned to be a genuinely likeable character that persists from season 2/3 to the end of the Regency.
            >Black Trombo (BT) is a veteran of many wars in Essos who came to Westeros for a peaceful security job for a minor house
            >Tristan Vance is on bad terms with the other Vances and doesn't have many men or gold
            >war breaks out and Tristan Vance asks BT for aid
            >BT says no but they'll hold the castle whilst Tristan goes to fight
            >Tristan dies along with the few men he had
            >Hugo Vance (a kid) cries and begs them not to leave, promising them gold once the war is over
            >BT accepts, reluctantly and begins training locals
            >BT is risk adverse and prevents Hugo from fighting at the Lakeshore
            >Hugo manages to convince BT to fight for real but BT does it his way
            >Crossed Elms guerilla warfare kino
            >joins the main war party before entering Tumbleton
            >Hugo buddies up with the lads for a bit but after seeing how people mistreat BT and the sellswords, he ditches them to sit with his men
Yh it's a clique racism bad story but the fact they're being discriminated against is way more realistic than black Velaryons and no one comments on their skin tone. The scene of Hugo coming to eat with his men instead is the real turning point where the sellswords begin to view Hugo differently.
            >the kingsroad battle plan with the ambush could be Hugo's idea since it's their style of fighting
            >Hugo and his men get barely any cred for it
            >once in KL, Hugo takes out a loan and pays his men the gold
            >as they're boarding the ship and saying goodbye, BT gives back his gold, followed by the rest of the men
They can say some cringe Valyrian line if you want but not Vala magoulas, something OC that fits.
            >"We fought for you, lordling, that's worth more than gold" or some BS farewell line
Idk this just feels like such an obvious subplot you c a add to have some diversity.

But none of them are fricking Targaryen, that's insane, black people exist but in their on land. It would be like if Amazon make the Noldor black. They don't care about representation, they care about replacing white characters according to the showrunners words "they didn't want a bunch of white people on TV"

            Anonymous

            >But none of them are fricking Targaryen
Yh we know but you'll never convince these guys of being reasonable if you frame it that way. You just sound like you're saying black people aren't good enough to be Targs to them. It's a dumb thought but that's what they'll instinctively "feel". Frame it as "diversity isn't the issue, we could've had XYZ, but bad writing is" and you'll be able to get them to not invoke the racism label. It works for me irl.

It'd be at least fun if both sides were grey like how the story was, instead it's manipulative "this side good, this side bad!" slop for the Black personcattle.

Why would anyone give a frick about GoT universe when the main story is rushed and ended like shit? HBO should really sue D&D for smearing the brand deliberately, those two idiots rushed the ending for writing star wars crap when HBO asked at least 3 more seasons.

None of those spinoffs matter. ASOIAF is built around collection of "exciting" side stories and none of them mattered at all in the end. What's more funny is that the main storyline about "death/winter is coming" and the wall in general has been invalidated in just one episode. It cracks me up when HotD mentions the ASOIAF prophecies, showing the wall as if it's something important at all. They're really so disconnected from reality. This entire universe is cursed due to how GoT was written in the last 4 seasons.

I reckon we're only a few years from a complete GoT reboot anyway.
I wonder how HBO will justify redoing the first 4 seasons (as in, what will they do to get normie appeal?) but it seems pretty likely that with HOTD's success and the spin-offs they're launching, it's an inevitability that they'll adapt the books more closely if the fat frick ever actually finishes the books
I wonder if this is why the Jon Snow spin off hasn't been greenlit yet either (this is the other alternative - that they use the spinoff to adapt the dropped plot lines and provide a proper ending to GoT)

Alyn being full black is stupid, him and Addam should've been half like Laenor to keep their lineage hidden. Now it's basically confirmed they're Corlys' kids, which is stupid. The whole point was that they couldn't have been Laenor's kids because he was gay, but they couldn't have been Corlys' either because then one of them wouldn't have been a dragonrider so it's entirely open where they actually came from.

We could've easily had 7 solid seasons from the Dance/Regency without any pacing issues or timeskips but the writing room is too moronic to keep track of which Stark met which Targ in which location so that's too much to ask for. I knew it was over in the first few minutes of season 1 with that Dothraki-esque tourney.

The whole cast being black would make more sense than the Californian perfect diversity ratios. Almost every fantasy setting ever has continents/regions that are analogous to our real world. It's only recently that people are being expected to believe that any 10 people drawn at random from a crowd will represent 10 different races and that somehow these people are all EXTREME racists offscreen that never mix with each other and disrupt the perfect racial distribution despite appearing to live in harmony. It's not only distracting but it shrinks these worlds. Everybody everywhere is the same and shares one culture? How fricking boring.

If the writers were adequately skilled they could familiarize themselves with the source material and write good dialogue that would fill the void. The problem is that they are either incapable or unwilling to do so.

Besides all the other little things
    1) The show is too complex to follow, you can become lost if you miss a few lines
    2) This show is disgustingly anti-natalist. Anyone left who appreciates children at all will now be out that they graphically killed a baby.
Hispanic viewers are especially important since they appear to finally have more of them then us in the USA given the Inside Out 2 numbers and they like large families.
    3) There are no male role models in this show. Game of Thrones has something for anyone to root for. You need to be a very political girl to like this.
    4) People are getting sick of "grey area". Plots where everyone is "super human and flawed". Writers with a worse opinion on humanity than a Hellfire Street Preacher.
    5) Not much action or adventure
    6) Bleak scenes of torture and killing
    7) Sex is all perverse and female coded like with the constant oral sex

The last few seasons of GoT burnt a lot of good will towards the next projects. HotD is a little too woke for me, black mop headed Valerions with no reasons why they look so different, stronk women, etc, also the time jumps in the first season made it hard to really care about these people.

I didn't turn in for season 2. Maybe I will later when I'm bored. I'm looking forward to Dunk and Egg, I liked those characters and stories. Hopefully it's not a bunch of diversity hires in Westeros for no reason.
