How come most Cinemaphilemrades hate this show while Lastman was praised? It just seems like the same kind of frenchie fast-paced action cartoon with synthwave and sex.

An I played Rayman 1, 2 and 3, a Gameboy port that was completely different from Rayman 1 and a fan remaster of Rayman 1, I played origins, legends (massive downgrade from origins) and the phone runner

“What if famous cartoon/video game character for kids swore, took drugs and killed people” is something that’s been done since the late 90s and was rarely ever funny. The only upside to an Adult version of Rayman was Balak shoehorning in that sexy cow chick. Everything else was cringy as hell.

Captain Laserhawk is the embodiment of “safe edgy” A show that thinks it’s popularizing social taboos by making Rayman snort coke off of people’s asses and featuring gay sex. When in reality it would’ve been considered tame in the 2000s.

I don’t know why that other moron compared it to Drawn Together. Adi Shankar would loathe that show. If he got offended over the Simpsons making Apu speak in an Indian accent. He would’ve popped a blood vessel over shows like Drawn Together having scenes like this.

DT had tons of moments with characters doing racial humor and calling each other morons. Nowadays if you made a show like that unless you had major funding helping you out. Your career would be fricking over.

Other anons are trying to say that because many other adult cartoons already things much more outrageous than Laserhawk that it's not really considered edgy. It's only edgy on paper because CHARACTERS FRICK or SOMEONE SNORTS COCAINE. The show wouldn't dare to have an Asian character whose can't pass a driving test because of his slanted eyes like Drawn Together. Or have an eight-year old given Ben Affleck a handjob like South Park. Or have a character turn into a black stereotype while they spend the episode trying to turn him back to being white like Aqua Teen.

It's edgy to a normie, but that's it.

That's what I hate most about these people. They act likes this stuff is edgy when its just boring now or just trying to be shocking when its just stupid. When you complain about how bad the show is and how the only substance it has is swearing a lot the writers along with the fans just say "is it too edgy for you?" with a smug face. These people need to grow up and realize that this isn't the Clinton or Bush era anymore.

These are the same kinds of people who want to censor Loony Tunes cartoons for being to violent or racist, Loony Tune cartoons are too edgy for them yet they try to claim to be the ones who push social taboo's.

The show was genuinely just not good. The guy who wrote it is a piece of shit who injects his gay shit into all of the media he touches and it makes it really hard to enjoy any of the okay ideas he has.
The Castlevania show was also just as bad as this shit. He just has bad ideas and also makes gay shit that I can't enjoy.
I am not a homosexual, I don't want to watch shows where homosexuals are the main characters unless it's something that is just happening in the background like that one homosexual from the wire.
I also hated what they did to all of these franchises except for asscreed, the frog is objectively the most good thing in this show and there was not enough of him.

I love Rayman and I don't like this shit at all.
I love "edgykino" and I don't like this shit at all.
I love animation and while the animation itself is decent, the designs and story suck and a lot of visual pacing is just fricking outright terrible.

"Culture warriors" don't hate it cause of Apu Guy (even though they would just be in the right to do so), they hate it because Apu Guy is a moron who wrote shitty fanfic for years and caters to a specific type of brainwashed twitter normie. His shows are just not good. Lastman is good. Lastman is one of the best things ever made. This doesn't hold a fricking candle to Lastman.

I can't help but notice how most of the people defending this show either could not tell me how they would feel if they didn't have dinner yesterday or they just objectively do not care about the IPs at all. It's a generic show I have no clue why they have to drag things I actually care about into it.

None of the twists or character motivations in the show make any sense at all (except Rayman’s) yet the story expects me to take it dead seriously. It rushes through everything making the world feel hollow and empty, so when characters die I don’t give a shit anymore.
Also made the big sin of using animals as racism allegories. Show doesn’t have any sexism, homophobia or real life racism in their dystopian oppressive government, but they sure do hate mutants. Fascinating commentary.
It has a cool aesthetic, good art style and sick animation. But in terms of dramatic storytelling, it’s pathetic.

Lastman is a genuinely interesting attempt at an adult action cartoon with great animation and character designs, a decent plot and actual themes.
This looks like "What if Rayman said frick?" which isn't something I am interested in after the character was binned in favor of white Minions. Also it has that Adi Shankir homosexual involved and that instantly puts it on my ignore list.

It’s fine for cartoons to be violent, swear and do all sorts of insane shit. But it has to be well written. Drawn Together was made by people who were funny. 1. The human characters are poorly written. The kind of thing where a character is supposed to be charismatic on paper, but they never say a single goddamn charismatic thing all season.
    2. The anime-isms for comic relief are lame.
    3. Most of the jokes and one-liners just don't land in general.
    4. Rayman is the best part but is such a small portion of the show-- you're better off watching a compilation on YouTube.

I don't get why all the characters are Ubisoft parodies, except Rayman who is just Rayman. Why don't they just use Jade and Pey'j? Why is it weird OC versions of them? Honestly, if all the Ubisoft characters were their actual counterparts, I would've enjoyed it an ounce more just by the virtue of it being ridiculous. Rayman going through his Conker's Bad Fur Day phase is the only reason me, and I'm guessing most, people even watched this cheesy written garbage.

Just finished it last night. I did not like it. Sure some parts were funny, but I couldn't stop getting the feeling of "Ubisoft wanted to copy Cyberpunk: Edgerunners but knew that making a new IP wouldn't sell, so they just took a random story and slapped other IPs that vaguely worked." It did not feel complete and the ending feels insulting. I will not watch a season 2.
