How come there are people who prefer the Cartoon Cartoons over the 2010s Cartoon Network shows?

Shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball, Steven Universe, and Craig of the Creek were able to be both comedies and shows with some continuity to them. They aren't just a string of gags. They're comedies with a lot of gags sure, but they also have down to earth moments and characters who feel like people you know in real life

Nah, I prefer shows with minor serialization than shows that were just joke after joke shows. The closest to that is Gumball, but even that has more continuity than the crappy old shows like Dexter's Laboratory and Powerpuff Girls

Craig of the Craig is if you took all the townie episodes from SU, but made it an entire show. It's fricking boring.

It's better than Cow and Chicken, which is just a bunch of gags with nothing interesting about it

Ren & Stimpy would be more up your alley.

Ren and Stimpy is fricking garbage. I've never seen it, but I know it's just a string of gags. The Cartoon Network shows of nowadays actually have stories to them. That's why I like series like Sailor Moon and Death Note. There are stories to them and not just an excuse to put joke after joke after joke

            >a string of gags
It paved the way for cartoons you currently watch, so it's clearly more than that.

              That's funny

The shows I watch (Naruto, Sailor Moon, Death Note, My Hero Academia, Cardcaptor Sakura, Precure, Tokyo Mew Mew, Dragon Ball Z, Craig of the Creek, The Owl House, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Amphibia, etc.) all have more continuity and aren't just an excuse for joke after joke like Ren and Stimpy is. Not even Gumball is just a joke after joke show. The only show I watch that is joke after joke is SpongeBob, because it's a master at it and it's really hard to do that

SpongeBob has Spumco alumni, so R&S has its influence.

There's literally only TWO good Nicktoons before the 2010s

SpongeBob and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Everything else is just fricking stupid. Avatar was the ONLY Nicktoon prior to like TMNT 2012 and Korra that wasn't just a joke after joke show. In fact, Avatar told a grand ongoing story with a ton of continuity and lore

    When it comes to Disney

I think they didn't really get good until Gravity Falls, Star vs. The Forces of Evil, Amphibia, The Owl House, and The Ghost and Molly McGee, all of which are outstanding

Star and Molly McGee are the best-animated of the bunch, since they had the help of Mercury. (Though, Star's animation was only at its best during the first season.)

Most of those flopped halfway and just rot towards the end, still watchable.

Were the Cartoon Cartoons really that bad?

Because those shows are boring as frick and down to earth moments and "characters who feel like real life people" doesn't make a show good.
Not to mention these shows were made for zoomers and zoomers are moronic and gay.

How about KND? It's got continuity, which is something you'd like.

I like the early Cartoon Cartoons. They feel like they were made for a more general audience in mind while later Cartoon Network shows feel like they're for kids. I was an adult when all of these shows came out so I don't feel any nostalgia for any of them, but I don't enjoy kid's cartoons unless I happened to grow up with them.

What makes them feel they were made for a more general audience compared to the 2010s Cartoon Network shows?

Just the fact that I can actually watch them as an adult, really. The humor is closer to the funny cartoons that I enjoy like The Simpsons or Looney Tunes. I can watch shows like Dexter's Laboratory or Johnny Bravo but I can't watch Regular Show or Adventure Time. They feel like they're for much, much younger people in the way they look and how the characters talk.

I forgot to include Clarence. I love Clarence because it's a realistic depiction of how kids act. It has this innocence I love

Craig of the Creek is rich with all the different people with their own traits and such. The creek feels like a kingdom and own world

If I want to watch characters roleplay about imaginary scenarios, I'd go watch Bluey.
