aside taking the typical liberties with the lore to make a diverse and inclusive show, it just looks like shit. locations look fake, costumes look overdesigned, nothing looks lived in or authentic. and the action scenes reminded me of the hobbit with their stylized slow motion and other bullshit, instead of the more grounded action of fellowship of the ring for example.
Ugly cast and costumes, ugly Elves
Everything I have seen now makes it look like an unsightly visual medium, generic garbage that does no justice to the IP. There's a lot of shit around the 2000's that was developed around the Lord of the Rings without borrowing designs from PJ's films and they were good, even if a lot of them were niche indie projects: This series has no creativity at all from what we've seen so far.
>costumes look overdesigned
Fricking where
The costumes weren't designed at all >Generic Byzantine armors except they look like garbage because of shitty color choices >The Elves are wearing generic 14th century gothic shit >Main character is in plain scale mail with a print shirt
Garbage, garbage, garbage, I don't understand how they've completely missed both utility and aesthetics.
>locations look fake, costumes look overdesigned, nothing looks lived in or authentic. and the action scenes reminded me of the hobbit with their stylized slow motion and other bullshit, instead of the more grounded action of fellowship of the ring for example.
Yeah the quality looks terrible. I just watched tremors 7. The trailers for rings makes tremors 7 look like a summer block buster budget wise
Would you commit to a one-track career as an actor if it netted you a comfortable $6 million? Not sure if this includes convention gigs but let's say it didn't, so you could probably pay your bills by doing a few decent conventions a year.
I would. If it afforded me the ability to frick around doing whatever I want for whatever part of the year I'm not working.
This whole thing is going to be hilarious to witness because this show will undoubtedly be more true to Tolkien than the movies ever were
For starters when you hear the cast speak they actually know how to pronounce the names of characters and places correctly. In the movie they were constantly butchered because PJ didn't care to get it right. Additionally the Tolkien Estate personally appointed the elvish translator for the show due to how badly the movies fricked up those parts
But because staying truer to Tolkien means it will be very different to Jackson the cloakshitters won't accept it because to them Jackson is the creator of LOTR and Tolkien is almost irrelevant.
I'm excited, it looks good and the cast/crew seem to genuinely care. Also full of Shakespearean theatre actors and minimal Americans, that's a good start
.
>excited
Ashamed to admit it, but I am. I just like pg-13 fantasy stories. GoT was too mature for me.
What about the constant discussion of the show makes you say that no one is excited?
Hello fellow anonymous posters on Cinemaphile.org. I too, a regular user of Cinemaphile am excited to see Amazon's The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power™. It will be what we call kino and based.

They literally fired the original director or whatever who was trying to be accurate, probably because of blacks.
Multicultural hobbits will never not be funny.
>This whole thing is going to be hilarious to witness because this show will undoubtedly be more true to Tolkien than the movies ever were
I should be pilloried, covered in shit, and decapitated for obvious bait but I have to wonder if there's some small amount of ledditors around there that actually believe this tripe

If the leaks are true there's going to be at least 3 different racial storylines with black people. That's too many even for me. The armors have been hit or miss mostly miss with the promotional images that look a lot worse than the trailers we've seen. Amazon fricked up by pushing the black characters front and center early in the advertising which caused a /misc/tard shitshow. Bad casting with the other actors as well extremely hard and ugly facial features on characters that would be beautiful and have long hair and they gave them short zoomer pompadours.
Bruh even the Jacksongay subreddit liked the new trailer and they have been the hardest people to please with this
Most non chud book fans are excited for this show too, there is just the usual Tolkien fanbase autism that results in every little detail bring scrutinised
Practically every single normie with a prime account will watch it too
I am curious enough to watch it. I know nearly nothing about the 2nd Age so it will be cool to see how everything ties into the forging of the rings. Even with all the trailers it isn't clear to me what the show will be about so I'm in it for the mystery. Don't care about the casting as long as the writing is good and sincere.
Heard this dude named Tolkien had some good and sincere writing that explored the 2nd Age that you could read but yeah these novice Star Trek writers will probably explain it better.
>novice Star Trek writers
these guys seemed to come out of nowhere, they weren't even credited by that star trek movie and it's all they have. isn't this incredibly strange?
>it's fanfic!!!
How accurate is this criticism? Literally the entirety of the Helm's Deep fight was fanfic in TTT film if we're using the logic that anything Tolkien didn't write is fanfic. Helm's Deep was resolved so quickly in the book.
Did Tolkien dramatise any of the Second Age stories? Did he put an actual narrative to the characters and events of the Second Age or is it just events in the mythology?
You were all Gailic tribes who came from the mainland until the Romans conquerer Britannia.
After they abandoned the Island in the Empires decline you were invaded and controlled by Anglo Saxons and subsequently from the Normans. All of which originate from the likes of Germany and Scandinavia. We are a lot closer than you think brother.
Take some pride in the history and heritage of your people, at least enough to divert the white hating israelites behind this subversive material.
They are trying to replace us in our own cultural material.
Because it's very clear that the main intent behind the show is to promote a certain message. Their main intent is not to make a good show, that is only secondary.

Already the fifth most popular TV show on the planet without a single episode to watch
By September this board will be swarming with shills!
Give them a thread, for pity's sake
Hello fellow anonymous posters on Cinemaphile.org. I too, a regular user of Cinemaphile am excited to see Amazon's The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power™. It will be what we call kino and based.
>Amazon show highly ranked on website owned by Amazon
merely a coincidence
I hate Black folk. I'm not racist, I just don't like them.
A new fantasy series comes out every other week. Released a BLACKED RAW edition isn't a novel twist on it. Plus they're shitting on Tolkien's legacy.
I am
>random ass sword in the library

Wrong, there are Black folk where there shouldn't be. kys.
>Tolkien is almost irrelevant
Writers of this show have the same opinion; fanfic.net level storytelling
They literally fired the original director or whatever who was trying to be accurate, probably because of blacks.
Multicultural hobbits will never not be funny.
A literal Numibian with ginger hair and a shite Irish accent.
Fricking kek.

Safe and effective.
What about the constant discussion of the show makes you say that no one is excited?
The discussion is about how shit or divisive it is. No one is talking about anything else.
That sounds like huge cope

>at least 3 different racial storylines
And new game of thrones show is gonna focus on gender discrimination storylines
May as well not bother with either and just stick to the books

Every fricking thread. Just go back there already.
You mean the subreddits that bans any and all dissent liked it? Color me SHOCKED.
Imposter
I'm excited for it but obviously I'm not going to try and actually discuss it here. It's impossible to have a rational discussion about it.
Favorite Black character so far?

Even with all the trailers it isn't clear to me what the show will be about so I'm in it for the mystery. Don't care about the casting as long as the writing is good and sincere.
Well, everything you watch is non-canon because Amazon doesn't own the writes to tell that story, so they are making some shit up.
Heard this dude named Tolkien had some good and sincere writing that explored the 2nd Age that you could read but yeah these novice Star Trek writers will probably explain it better.
Tolkien wasn't a good writer.
Yeah like I said Star Trek Beyond's writers will do a better job.
OK? Star Trek Beyond had the best writing out of the three films.
>the least smelly shit
This isn't a win, anon.
Yeah I'm surprised these writers went years without landing another job after that masterwork. They are geniuses as shown by the trailer.
>novice Star Trek writers
these guys seemed to come out of nowhere, they weren't even credited by that star trek movie and it's all they have. isn't this incredibly strange?
good morning, pajeet, sir!

Did Peter Jackson invent his own OC named characters in the movies like this show is chock full of?
Why are you arguing with blatant shills?
Yes
http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Sharku
wtf i'm an #amazonpedo now
How many of these had their own plotlines and hours of screentime?

Wow really showed those chuds.

It's Anti-European cultural appropriation.
Frick that shit. Anyone who supports this cancer is an unironic homosexual cuck.
