It's sad that people get locked into these unfalsifiable narratives. If a shooting happens it's the feds, if it doesn't happen it's the feds failing and now it's time to laugh at the feds. It's actually sad that people get joy out of what plays into a larger sense of paranoia that could lead to violence. Nothing needs to be proven, it's all faith.

I doubt feds cared about Joker at all, but the media really desperately wanted a mass shooting during this movie.

You are correct, an idea shared among many that spreads rapidly is known as a meme. Is there a point though in letting us know this?

                Anonymous

Stating something as fact based on no evidence but a Cinemaphile meme is odd and I want to figure out why it happens. Did you believe it honestly or were you just having fun? Did you think the media wanted it to happen to have something to write about or was it bigger than that? See that meme take off was bizarre. Seeing it repeated to this day is interesting to me.

                Anonymous

There’s a difference between evidence and proof, do you understand that? Evidence is rarely a singular smoking gun that automatically shows someone is right, it just gently points in one direction.
I say that because you say “no evidence,” and that’s not true. The numerous articles they published up to and after the movies release are evidence. Maybe it doesn’t convince you but it convinced me

                Anonymous

You're right, but the existence of simpler, more commonly true explanations render that conclusion moot. Focus group writing trends that connect one Joker theater shooter to the new Joker movie soon to be in theaters is exciting clickbait and probably only got to there because that director and studio aren't "in" with them. Or maybe they are! They could benefit from the coverage.

So what made you come to the conclusion that they wanted the shooting? Did you think they were encouraging the shooting? There was a threat called in to one of the theaters.

TBF, if the character was black or a woman, the movie would pretty much have to acknowledge racism/sexism or get shit on for being "inauthentic" if not for being made by white men.

it's the white incel getting his revenge, not a minority. Also since it's the white incel who is being opressed, there are some connections to be made, even if the opressors are all old white males, the idea of someone opressing a white male incel with rage is enough to make the woke crowd angry, because for them white male incels are less than humans

No. If anything, the biggest message the movie has is that mental health is important. There is also some other stuff that goes after the rich and the media, but the biggest plot point to me was someone with a mental illness is being abused by a society that doesn't care about them until they finally snap.

        Anonymous

Good to see someone else figured that out. It's surprising how many people miss that when the director basically hammers them over the head with it.

When he's a nobody they cut his mental health services and ability to pay for meds. Then after he's started a riot, killed a few people, and in prison; only THEN do they send him another psychotherapist. But by then the message is clear, it's already too late.

That's the 'joke' at the end that the Joker is laughing about. That he's already too far gone but it's only now in the wake of his destruction that society pretends to care.

            No, its due to

            2) Tolerating leftism.

Thats it. Thats all. And yes you right wing moron, all of you STILL tolerate leftism. Making up dumb rational arguments about why the left position on X is wrong doesn't matter. You still tolerate their premise. You still tolerate their bad faith arguments. They still have power and you do nothing to impede it. So you tolerate both of it. It just makes you sound like whiny b***h. Oddly, this is what leftists love to say when they mock right wingers. They give you a strange bit of advising pointing out that you tolerate them.

I like it when you demoralize right wing morons because they take the shit you say seriously to ensure no right wing moron ever views "leftism" as a danger. After all, only 2 groups ever successfully stopped leftism, the falangists, and the NSDAP, both of which had many former leftists and socialists who understand the danger and power of leftism. Again, liberals like you who spout these boomer takes are starting to piss me off, you may vocalize useful things like saying "rightards" and crying about Republican, but you often get in the way of true desirable leftists change, in the end, you are still a fascist enabler for spouting these Boomer takes. so just remember that after the right, you're next. Right, that's why they hate the idea of it being a problem caused by a broken society that needs to be fixed. They've normalized mental illness, psychotherapy, and SSRI pill popping as natural parts of the human condition, not a problem to be solved.

It can't be solved while also maintaining modern society. Such problems are caused by myriad factors that have developed in modern culture, the stresses and fast paced nature of modern society, rampant change, lack of stability and consistency, childhood traumas caused by broken family/school/community support systems and many other things.

You gays have a serious difficulty understanding our mentality.

Yes, thats right. They love actively making their illness an identity. They love inventing new terms, and they love enforcing these terms on other. The purpose is to achieve subversion and control of society. On a more shallow level, we love it because it reduces limits a sane society places on us, and allows us to remake reality on their terms.

These are not contradictory, we can make mental illness a symbol of PRIDE, to the point of making corporations fly our flags, but we can also hate mental health, and the idea of even labeling us and trying to solve us. That is part of subversion. Remaking reality on our terms, while demonizing right wing morons and anyone who even believes in mental health so they can be purged out of positions of power.

I don't know why right wing morons have such a problem getting that. Its like you only half way understand leftists behavior, but never get the root cause. Like you don't understand that the Left IS aware that its a sign of a broken society, but they don't fricking care.

Anyway, here is a preview of some of our new terminology. Enjoy it because you WILL see this used more often in a few years and you WILL be powerless to stop it.

To be fair, the month is pretty pandering these days. It might have at one point served a purpose to tell people about black folk, but for a lot of people, including black folk, it's really just stuff that's already part of American history, which is celebrated pretty much all the time. Having a month set aside just seems like a way to go "yes yes, we see you, x group"

Pride is FOR GAY, which is owned by the LEFT WING. They OWN THE MONTH OF JUNE.

It’s not even June to these people, I’ve been seeing people say shit like “this pride”, Pride is just the name of the month now as far as they care.

This is literally “I can’t believe something vaguely right wing happened during MY month” it doesn’t matter that it’s completely unrelated TO pride, it’s just left month and a small right occurred and they get angry like an invader came into their anthill.

I honestly can't tell if you're being genuine or not. There's shit that goes on during those parades that I can't even post on this board without getting banned for posting pornography, and it goes on right out in the open, where young children are encouraged to watch by their parents.

Drag time story hour shit are just events at public libraries. Libs take their kids there, it isn't something that happens at pride. The idea that reading to kids is somehow part of "drag culture" is absurd, drag trannies do more community events than just that. Drag culture is weird to me, but it's often less sexual than a pop stars show; it's mostly about fashion and pageantry, though it can get sexual. To me it's trashy just like pop stars can be trashy. I can understand the appeal, it's just not for me.

You think American television is an indication of majority acceptance without consequence. Even if 60% of the country accepts you, you're bad for business because employers want everyone's business.

You're looking for acceptance without "activism" which is impossible in this situation because the majority experience is all the proof they need to marginalize and discriminate against you. They don't know what it's like to be gay or bi.

Even cartoons hid their gay characters in the 90s and 00s.

They didn't "hide" what they didn't have in the first place. Cartoons for children being full of intentionally gay characters is a very modern development, no matter how much people want to pretend older characters were 'gay coded'.

That's exactly what happened in Hey Arnold! and what creatives working at CN and Disney have talked about. There has been push back against gay shit in movies and shows because it's a risk and execs are generally risk averse. A couple of adult sitcoms centering around gays doesn't mean that a couple of risks to test the waters was actually the universal thumbs up for gays across studios and media.

The "hey just shut up about it" method doesn't work because that leaves theories about gays spreading via abuse and grooming to become popular and people will swear gays don't exist or at least no one they know knows any so it becomes easier to openly disparage and discriminate against them.

The universal reaction to homosexuals is disgust.

Multiple elementary schools have been caught grooming children and called out.
Universities were caught with their hands thoroughly greased when people asked them why they were pushing transexualism and homosexuality in every course class and school sponsored social everything and followed the money.

It's going to be an actual disaster when the info for who is doing it and why is deseminated onto the public.
MSM is already untrusted and the controlled opposition in media seen through and the trashy rage farmers online who were speaking truth soon became a farcical joke of themselves and became just another tool of the oligarchy.

It's more like WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY that historically jailcucked and lifecucked gays. The culture that persists beyond that makes it so that people were hiding themselves and who they love. Being gay is illegal in many countries.

That's cool. It's still led by Christians as Christianity is a cultural foundation in the west. You can mobilize around the anti-gay Christian more easily than Muslim values because "I hate these people" isn't good enough to effect laws in most cases and Christianity is more popular and relevant.

It is though, that's part of why America has never had a non-Christian president. We reference the Christian God in our major holidays, pledge of allegiance, and money. As such, Christian values influenced treatment of gays and formed a basis for discrimination.

Matt Walsh is a welcome Christian fascist who is supported by republican politicians. John Doyle is also a Christian fascist who speaks at Republican events with politicians and he's against gay rights. Milo Yiannopoulos is working for Marjorie Taylor Greene and he said a gay married couple should be executed. A bill becoming law that is designed to make gay and trans people a financial risk for public education shows that is a sign of the threat, a result of it too. If Roe v Wade can he overturned, gay rights are more clearly threatened too.

You mean the very same bill that also prevents teachers from discussing straight sexuality with students? The bill that we shouldn't need but is apparently necessary in order to force teachers to act like fricking professionals and keep their personal lives separate from their job? That bill? If teachers being unable to talk to kids about sex behind their parents' backs is a threat to gay rights, what does that say about gay people? Seriously. The media calls it the "Don't Say Gay" bill, but have you actually read it? It says nothing specifically of homosexuality, it says kids grade 3 and under should not be told about sexuality or gender identity AT ALL by their teachers.

                >If Roe v Wade can he overturned, gay rights are more clearly threatened too.
Roe v Wade is a shit decision that tramples on states' rights, it deserved to be overturned because it was made on extremely shaky ground in the first place. It's been highly contentious for decades not just because it allows abortion but because the supreme court had no right to make that decision. Nothing whatsoever like the gay marriage decision, and supreme court justices being against gay marriage or threatening to overturn it has never even been a topic of discussion whatsoever unlike Roe v Wade.

It's not necessary, there are already laws that keep adults from being inappropriate with children. Even libs of tiktok "groomers" were people saying they were bullied as kids and they're happy they can be an example of a happily married gay teacher. Straight teachers talking about their wives or pregnancies were never the target and the bill works off suspicions and assumptions and drains resources and time. Sure, keep teachers from talking about sex, keep them from helping kids "discover" they're gay or trans by leading them to those children, but reducing the bill to

The law had some good ideas, but what's different is that it specifically gave parents the resources to take the school to court and have them investigated if the kid learns the word "gay" at school. It doesn't even matter if the teacher is gay at that point, it just increases the likelihood of it happening if they are gay. It's a bad law that got pushed through by anti-gay people who think gays spread via grooming and are against public schools.

We do agree. We've been agreeing that grooming is bad, it's just that a kid learning what gay is at school isn't grooming and teachers shouldn't lose their jobs for that. Schools shouldn't be punished for that. Schools shouldn't have "let's talk about our sexual experiences" in their lesson plans either and if the law was closer to outlawing just that, it wouldn't be a problem.

The law is bad. The bill is anti-gay in that it explicitly says sexual orientation. If it were better, it wouldn't be as good at harming public schools, the range would be too narrow. If it were just a ban on teaching gender theory it would make more sense, but it wouldn't have the effect they're going for.

The law is good, and clearly necessary. The bill is against exposing toddlers to sexual subjects at an early age, which never even crossed anyone's minds, including gay people, that it would even be considered "anti-gay". The only public schools that would be harmed are those which enable grooming behavior, in which case they absolutely deserve to be harmed. The law does include ban teaching genderclown insanity.

It doesn't go into effect until July 1st. The intention of the bill is clear and removing gays from education, making them more of a financial risk, is working for those who wish to, as the bill states, control their kids. In other words, control what they think of gays.

                >with overwhelming support from both liberals and conservatives,
Please post examples. Real protections for kids is fine, but protections for parents to raise their kids to think that gays are sexual abuse victims somehow zombified into being abusers themselves are not.

If you read the bill, it says the purpose is to help parents control their kids. It's not about preventing sexual abuse, it's written at the beginning that it's about the rights of "parents to make decisions regarding upbringing & control of their children". Marriage, honorifics, parents, those can all be considered "sexual concepts" if the parent is shitty enough and doesn't like the school and teacher enough.

It really says that though, that's from house bill 1557. A kid asking Ms. Johnson the difference between miss and mister goes into "asking your parents" territory. It's weird. Answering "one is a male honorific and the other is a female honorific" can damage your school.

The bill covers pre-k I think. Either way, it often happens that a kid wouldn't think to ask how honorifics works until they're learning how to spell names. Ms. and Mrs. is touchy too not just for the gender implications but for the sexuality in marriage.

It's fine within a certain degree, but little kids, literal toddlers don't need to know about sex and shit. Sure, they shouldn't be made to wait until they've just a few months from graduating high school, but that's because the American education system in general is a mess when it comes to teaching kids shit way too late

Telling kids that it's okay if a kid has two dads isn't talking about sex, but it is conflicting with the right of the parent to "control" their kids, as in their rights to tell their kids it's not okay to have two dads. Women getting pregnant and having kids and getting married is already more common and accepted so it's not going to have this problem.

Kids spend too much time in school because it's loaded with too much bullshit and the lessons are designed to go too slowly. The concept of spending 6-8 hours at school every single day with homework on top of that is fricking absurd. School shouldn't be the entirety of a kid's life.

School serves as a place to leave your kids while you work and also parents want their kids to have a shot at having a better life than they do, so long education hours is an easy sell to them.

All that long education hours do is burn kids out and prevent them from actually having life experience. In my job I've had to deal with kids fresh out of fricking COLLEGE and they're useless at the most basic life skills, like calling a business and having a professional conversation. It's clear to me that the focus on keeping kids locked up in schools 24/7 for 15+ years of their life does nothing but stunt their development in every aspect of life.

To be fair, school would still have to be fairly long in order to prep kids on whatever subjects they're learning. But with that said, there definitely needs to be a restructuring not only to what kids learn and when, but for how long, and of course things like more options for them to learn the shit that they're interested in. Most kids are able to figure out a vague idea of their future career by the time they're entering middle school, so as long as they've got the basic and maybe a few advance things learned by the end of elementary, then middle and high school should just be like pre-college situation where kids just focus on the shit that will be necessary to prep them for the stuff colleges will be throwing their way in relation to the chosen career.

No, that's also where the doctors and engineers come from too. Not to give too much credit to the shitty American public education system, even given that public education is a punishment zone for poorer families and misbehaving kids, it's still that all that time pouring the education that gives them a chance to be among the few who grow up to use 90% of what is taught. The better solution is to give high school kids the option to make senior year a sort of trade school year, but that would be expensive.

I'd say 10-12 would be the time to let kids focus on subjects necessary to get into a college and ready them for whatever career path they're looking for, as well as making sure they have the option to also start some kind of work experience. God knows it can be a b***h to land work after high school even when you go for some of the bottom of the barrel options, all because "you're not experienced enough", even though you're literally just starting out in the workforce and need to be given experience somewhere in order to have it for later

Well, then make wages exceed inflation so that both parents aren't forced to have full-time jobs just to put a roof over their heads.

People could just stop living beyond their means. Everyone always looks back on the good old days of the 50's when a father could support a whole family, but they also spent less money on bullshit.

                Back then people had:
                >1200 sq ft homes
                >1 car maximum
                >all meals made at home

                Today people have:
                >3000 sq ft homes
                >2 cars minimum
                >fast food multiple times per week

With the exception of healthcare and education, just about everything is actually cheaper now than it used to be, so then people buy more of it. Houses can be built cheaper than ever, the problem is they make them 2-4 times bigger which makes the price worse. Cars can be built cheaper than ever, so they're made bigger and stuffed full of electronics and pointless extra features to make them more expensive than ever, then people buy one for each driver in the household and replace them with upgraded models before even paying off the loan. People almost eat more meals from restaurants than they do at home these days, which makes food incredibly expensive.

You can still afford to raise a family on one income, you just have to stop consooming like a moron.

                >3000 sq ft homes
I wish, more like 700 sq ft apartments. What paradise are you living in?
                >2 cars minimum
Both parents have to work so that is necessary
                >fast food multiple times per week
Much more exhausting to cook when both parents work

                >What paradise are you living in?
I live in a rust belt area and it's actually kind of fascinating how you can see the progression of house sizes over time just by looking at different neighborhoods. There are the neighborhoods close to downtown which were built in the 40s and 50s where the biggest houses are 2000 sq ft, then you get out to the ones from the 80s and 90s where 2000 sq ft becomes the average houses, then you go further out into the 21st century constructions where 2000 sq ft are the smallest houses if they even go that small at all.
The vast majority of people with families here live in houses, though, most people see apartment living as a poor investment and a bad way to raise kids. All the apartment buildings I've lived in have been mostly devoid of children.

                >Both parents have to work so that is necessary
                >Much more exhausting to cook when both parents work
It's just all the consooming piling up in a big snowball effect. It's not impossible to live cheaply, people just don't want to give up even a shred of convenience.

Kids spend too much time in school because it's loaded with too much bullshit and the lessons are designed to go too slowly. The concept of spending 6-8 hours at school every single day with homework on top of that is fricking absurd. School shouldn't be the entirety of a kid's life.

Yea, can't argue with that. While this could be a good sequel, there's no denying it'll still take away some of what made the original so special, especially since they can't exactly pull the same "how much of this is really happening?" like last time.

Can someone explain how the Joker is somehow an icon of the 'right' when he is pure chaos rather than order, stability, conservatism? The Joker is just as weird as any LGBT character.

      Anonymous

It's just the usual lunatics trying to make a mountain out of a fricking picture of a hole in the ground. The movie didn't have any overly political agenda, just being a social commentary with the Joker's origin attached. But because he's not being violent for the sake of any minorities, it's "problematic" or whatever.

      Anonymous

Yeah I don't know. Nolan Joker recognized that evil is at the center of human nature. When you adopt that idea, you turn from the goodwill that liberalism depends on and towards a place of using violence and anger to maybe support some fascism, but you know, as a "joke".
