It's because the first one was mostly about cool cars and street racing, which made it feel grounded and enhanced your immersion. The series took a nosedive when they made it about capeshit-style action and overboard CGI stunts.

Tokyo Drift is the F&F film with the most racing in it.
Because it unironically had family. Seriously. Super comfy illegal street racing family. In the sequels it felt forced to jam in all these characters Dom never met and calling them "family." The context is even different now that they are Mission: Impossible Force.
