I don't mind them having some kind of homoerotic bullshit between them, but it should be ACTUAL doomed toxic yuri if you know what I mean, like, these two cannot be together, their destiny is to fight forever, and they both hate that.
Also that Cheetah design fricking sucks, she should go back to looking more like an actual Cheetah, giving her this many human features humanizes her too much, she should be too lost in her animalistic rage and instincts, and that should reflect in her design.
I don't hate it, but I'm not the biggest fan of it.
Shocked that writers haven't redeemed Silver Swan yet. She was WW goddaughter and got tortured/ mutilated into her current state, while Cheetah brought her curse upon herself.
I don't like it. I'd like Cheetah to be able to shift between a normal woman and a twelve foot tall werecat. Also she should have the same petty hatred towards Diana that Black Manta has towards Aquaman. These writers need to stop soft balling female villains, it's disgusting.
>'cause I just hate you XDXDXDXD'
The saddest part is that it's not even canon. Black Manta ALWAYS had a backstory. >I'm a phony Black Nationalist! >I hate Aquaman because I was kidnapped by pirates and he didn't save me! >I'm an autistic child who grew up in Arkham!
Black Manta was never "inventing backstories" just to frick with Aquaman, that's just Cinemaphile fanfic. What actually happened was the writers kept coming up with completely moronic backstories which later writers would ignore. Then the Reboot came along and Black Manta finally got a backstory (Aquaman killed his dad) that wasn't completely fricking moronic, which has stuck since.
I'm fine with it. They started out as friends anyways, right? Plus it gives Wondy a valid reason to not smoke the b***h that the likes of Batman and Joker don't have
Only time 2 arch enemies should stop hating each other is if their beef was never personal anyway. Penguin and Bats could 100% become frirndly if the former stopped doing crime and the latter stopped keeping crime tje only viable income stream. Black Manta and Aquaman should never.
Its kind of amazing that as much as DC has pushed Wonder Woman as part of the 'trinity' alongside Supes and Batman, most people can't name a single wonder woman villain or storyline. Her material has zero pop culture penetration
Thats true, but not actually an excuse. You can make a compelling character based around a core fetish, you just need to fricking write a character.
And the fetish material stopped being core to her identity before either of us were born, they could have easily given her good stories or good villains to work with. They just never did. Which, given how long she has been around, is almost an impressive feat. You'd think someone would have come up with a good Wonder Woman story by now if only by accident.

have either of you actually read those stories? Because the stories from when she was a "fetish character" are her good stories. the issue came from the 20 years after when she was handled by a writer who didn't care about her and removed the elements that made her appealing even as a fetish character.
Most israelites are caucasoid, and any definition of "white" more exclusive than that is arbitrary. Also King isn't israeli, he's not circumcised or bar mitvah'd.
Johns explicitly made Barbara Ann a sociopathic con artist whose perception of Diana was skewed by her being raised by a feminist cult operating on their own interpretation of the Amazons and who became her enemy shortly after their first meeting. This comes from Rucka, who retconned in a friendship.
desperate attempt to make Cheetah make sense as a Wonder Woman villain
Modern Cheetah is supposed to be evil Lara Croft. If writers can't make her make sense in a modern fantasy superhero book it's their problem.
>Cheetah was the one they singled out this issue as Diana’s ex-gay lover
ftfy, she has the most personal connection to Diana, just like how Bruce has with Harvey, to make a comparison, we could still push Circe as Diana's actual archenemy, TRUST THE PLAN
I don't particularly like it but it's fine, they just have to make at least one of her main female villains be a spiteful sociopathic shit with no hopes of redemption. It looks bad when all her male villains are irredeemable monsters.
I think WW2 would have been better as a international manhunt for Cheetah as she tears her way through diplomats and academics as the blunt weapon of a primal god while Diana struggles with her romantic feelings for Barbara Minerva vs her responsibility as a hero. They could have also done something liked that for Captain Marvel 2 with Moonstone.
I think it's inevitable. Historically speaking all Cinemaphile female villains are somewhere on the redemption track. It's really only a matter of time before they get turned into antiheroes or are given a Wicked style prequel that shows how they're actually just misunderstood.
Isn't Punchline's whole deal a subversion of this exact trope? Her main storyline was about her manipulating the public's willingness to forgive a pretty girl while being a complete monster the whole way through.
The only truly irredeemable female villain that nobody has ever had on a redemption track I can think of off the top of my head is Viper/Madame Hydra, and she's a literal Nazi.
The closest point we got was Claremont having her sacrifice her life to save Spider-Woman during the brief moment when Viper thought she was Jessica's mother. If that retcon had stuck I can guarantee we would have seen her get a redemption arc because Claremont did the exact same with Mystique later. In fact I think he took the arc he intended for Viper and Jess and re-used parts of it for Mystique and Rogue/Kurt.
Viper did get a lot of humanization from Claremont and Hickman (of ALL fricking people) gave her that one-page backstory bit which could have easily been spun into a redemption arc if anybody had read Secret Warriors at that point.
Rucka already did this
It's not complete until they've made out
Not happening, this is what they call queer baiting. It's just a tease.
>That filename.
I don't think they'll go that far.
I don't mind them having some kind of homoerotic bullshit between them, but it should be ACTUAL doomed toxic yuri if you know what I mean, like, these two cannot be together, their destiny is to fight forever, and they both hate that.

It was always there
Kind of lame, not as hot as when they hate each other either.
Hated it before, hate it now. Continues to rob Minerva of her ambition and agency.
>muh "character loses agency if they end up in a relationship"
Yes.
Until they can prove they write otherwise, YES, THEY DO. THE FRICK HAS IVY DONE IN A DECADE?
Doesn't she have a solo ongoing series that's gone on for over 20 issues without Harley?
She has a whole ass solo comic that Harley is barely in.
Read her solo comic, she attempted to create a floral bio plague but then shit happened and she changed her mind and fought Jason Woodrue
needs to be more cat than lady
I don't hate it, but I'm not the biggest fan of it.
Shocked that writers haven't redeemed Silver Swan yet. She was WW goddaughter and got tortured/ mutilated into her current state, while Cheetah brought her curse upon herself.
I've wanted them to have a fricked up toxic lesbian relationship for years now.
The only people who want this are unironically redditors and other freaks who love to ship.
I ship Cheetah with Snapper Carr.
There's been plenty of other villains that gave being a hero a whack, why not give her a turn.
I don't like it. I'd like Cheetah to be able to shift between a normal woman and a twelve foot tall werecat. Also she should have the same petty hatred towards Diana that Black Manta has towards Aquaman. These writers need to stop soft balling female villains, it's disgusting.
Black Manta is fricking moronic these days
He's autistic, not moronic.
Not my point, tardo. He's been overused the stupid 'cause I just hate you XDXDXDXD' thing is reddit tier
>'cause I just hate you XDXDXDXD'
The saddest part is that it's not even canon. Black Manta ALWAYS had a backstory.

Because she was originally made as fetish. She is never going to truly take off no matter how hard DC push her or try to pretend that she is "iconic".

She is iconic. Like straight up the most popular female dc superhero.
I think Batgirl is more well known than her. Even Harley nowadays.
Considering the state of batman, I doubt it. Knights and suicide squad made them into green lantern tier heroes.

It's a cool idea but I don't think Tom King can do it well
Feels like a white girl or a city asian chick wrote this.
Tom King is a white guy.
Jews aren't white.
Tom King is so white that he glows in the dark
Most israelites are caucasoid, and any definition of "white" more exclusive than that is arbitrary. Also King isn't israeli, he's not circumcised or bar mitvah'd.
this shit was pretty much created by Johns, right? considering he was the first one to make them friends before she became Cheetah
Johns explicitly made Barbara Ann a sociopathic con artist whose perception of Diana was skewed by her being raised by a feminist cult operating on their own interpretation of the Amazons and who became her enemy shortly after their first meeting. >tfw Johns shit may have been shit but was still more creative than this moronic trope
>Modern Cheetah is supposed to be evil Lara Croft
No, that’s a Cinemaphile meme.
why not a male villain with sexual tension?
I guess they kinda tried that with Max Lord lol
Angle Man has that with Donna Troy
Wonder woman has no villains
oh... she's no longer a furry? at least she finally has tearlines
They should have fricked in 1984
You mean to be more as a love interest to Wonder Woman.
I love it.
It’s something DC will never do with Batman/Joker and Superman/Luthor.
So let them become lovers. They’re already bisexual.
Cute moms and their 3 kids!
If it means we can push Circe as Diana's main archenemy, then I'm all for it, let Cheetah be her Two-Face, or Harvey Dent I guess..
Circe was already lumped in with the quirky mini boss squad earlier 2 months ago with Dr Psycho, Angle Man, Grail, Giganta, and Silver Swan.
Cheetah was the one they singled out this issue as Diana’s arch enemy.
>Cheetah was the one they singled out this issue as Diana’s ex-gay lover
ftfy, she has the most personal connection to Diana, just like how Bruce has with Harvey, to make a comparison, we could still push Circe as Diana's actual archenemy, TRUST THE PLAN
Silver Swan, aka Vanessa Kapatelis, is right there anon
I don't particularly like it but it's fine, they just have to make at least one of her main female villains be a spiteful sociopathic shit with no hopes of redemption. It looks bad when all her male villains are irredeemable monsters.
Grail exists.
Circe exists.
Rucka also reinterpreted Circe as a sassy girlboss who’s sometimes Diana’s frenemy.
Circe was already a sassy girlboss who, if she got her head out of her ass, would make a good friend for Diana (per Donna Milton storyline).
Anyway Circe went back to being a b***h in the Witching Hour crossover, so you're b***hing about nothing.
That was before Justice League Dark
BORED. I'M BORED OF THIS SHIT. I'm sick of everyone trying to act like they're adding nuance to stupid costumed villains.
They should bring back the Priscilla Rich Cheetah.
it's been almost 40 years. The Minerva version is just not iconic.
Professor Zoom already killed her off.
DC doesn't have a real continuity, just bring her back
I think it's inevitable. Historically speaking all Cinemaphile female villains are somewhere on the redemption track. It's really only a matter of time before they get turned into antiheroes or are given a Wicked style prequel that shows how they're actually just misunderstood.

It won't stick. Cheetah is the go-to Wonder Woman villain. Even if they cure Barbara, there's two other Cheetahs they can use
The only cool thing about this issue is that they re-canonized the tiny finger Superman.
I really hate King's fanfiction, he just made this shit because he wanted to write about his kids, who was a similar age difference.
