Producer just means funding. you "donate" a small amount of your upfront salary as an investment in the movie/show, for more returns on the back end. its why stars of long running shows will often get a producer credit after a few seasons. It doesn't mean they have any actual ideas or anything to do with the creative process it just means they get more money.
