Sonic prime is more story focused occasional hood joke but over all not what it’s about. If I were to compare the comedy quality of boom to the writing quality of prime. Well I’d say Boom is better but I wouldn’t say Prime is a bad show.

Sonic Boom would've been better as a slightly grimdark 22-minute episodic action series. The 11-min Seinfeld for kids shit overstayed its welcome. It's a huge shame Sonic Prime is probably just going to pretend that the Boom universe doesn't exist. I'd love to see that bastard Lyric actually do some damage.
Wow I never realized just how ugly X Rouge was. I don't mind yet another outfit, it looks like a remix of Heroes and Riders outfit. And of course there's Prim, Rebel and Button, all three of which are nice. Also the upside down sleep wing burrito thing they did in Prime was really cute.
I don't mind the suit but it feels like she's just "generic girl" in this. If they want to change her personality, that's fine but they didn't really replace it with anything. She seems interchangeable with current Amy outside of her abilities.
All those costumes are garbage and they went explicitly out of their way to cover up every inch of her skin, on a character who is contextually defined around showing her skin, like they want her to wear a hijab

I'm not the biggest Boom show fan but I understood it's strengths.
Prime just feels like it's spinning it's wheels cause the whole series is using a plot dense enough for a single movie or a three partner at best. And the character interactions we are getting in the mean time aren't great.

Frontiers puts a focus on each of the ones who went along with Sonic wanting to go on their own for a bit for one reason or another and it also gives some vibes that they are heading toward another Adventure style game (especially since they've announced there is going to be more story content added with Amy, Tails, Knuckles supposedly becoming playable. Now whether or not this will all ultimately lead to something is to be seen.
It's just a throw away line Ian forced in in hopes he can control the canon but the Jap script completely wrote that shit out, it's not happening anytime soon. Nothing Ian writes is finally if it means it either doesn't pander to Japs first or if SEGA cares enough to use that character instead of the usual >Create new shillhog/human e-girl just to kill them off at the end and only gets to come back if fan demand says so like with Shadow or is some devs pet like Silver/Zavok.

Outside having a slightly similar artstyle, the two have next to nothing in common. Sonic Boom was thick with reference and sarcasm, clearly designed to have fun with the older audience already well familiar with the Sonic series - especially after season 2, when the writers knew that Boom (the game) had flopped and so played with the story until it ended. Sonic Prime is much more focused on appealing to kids or people new with the show; the plot is straightforward, nothing really needs to be understood to get into it, and any references are more like background easter eggs.
I think they're both good. I much prefer Boom, because the show that jabs fun at itself is the more amusing one to watch. Also, Prime's plot plays out pretty standard and outside seeing what the different worlds turn out to be, there's not too much surprise. But if you just want Sonic and are fine with a kids TV plot, then Sonic Prime is just fine. It's a lot better than any Sonic media you would've seen ten years ago.
