God, NuBardock sucks ass. People give Toei shit, but FoG Bardock>>>>>the shit Toriyama wrote in Minus and Super.
What is the fan comic called? I never seen it before.
>fan comic
Straight out of Toriyama’s hands.
and came out decades after dragon ball ended
And? Toriyama drew it, and wrote it into the script for DBS Broly. It’s Toriyama Canon.
never said it's not canon tho? but pretty weak since it's in a spinoff that most people who have watched and read dragon ball don't even know and came out decades after dragon ball ended
i thought this is a thread about whether goku was based on superman or not so that matters especially since toriyama was known for not having a long-term plan at all when he was writing
But you said it's a fan comic
Stop changing the goal post.
Toriyama didn't drew Super, lying israelite. It's Toyotaro.
Traceotaro took that from the Broly novie which Toriyama wrote
That wasn’t from Super, but a bonus chapter from Toriyama’s Dragon Ball prequel manga, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. It was even called Dragon Ball Minus.
Are you stupid? Toriyama wrote the DB Minus Manga and was inserted into official canon way back in 2014 before Super even existed, moron.
>Toriyama's hands
Good fanfic. That's Copyotaro.
Holy cope, Batman! Is this how weebs maintain their cognitive dissonance that Japanese media is special?
>Holy cope
man, the irony
Sephiroth is still the best Evil Superman
Non canon
Very canon
>DBSuper
That wasn't even what they showed on Dragon Ball, mongoloid
DB Minus was a mistake.
Nothing made after the buu saga is canon
Bardock sending Goku to Earth like Jor-el happened before Buu
Nope
>Posts anime and manga where it's not allowed
>Mangaka dies
Kek, that's what you get
He died 18 days ago moron.
Yup. Because of f/a/ggots constantly spamming his soul on Cinemaphile, stupid b***h
That has been happening since Cinemaphile was first made.
too soon
anime and manga are allowed everywhere newbie
His origin story is very similar
>comes from a dying planet
>father and mother sent him away because they knew of the potential destruction
>raised on earth with humble beginnings in rural area
>both belong to a powerful race
Aren't a majority of alien characters "the last of there kind"?
Proof?
That’s a Bible reference not Superman
Moses not being the last israelite ever and being adopted into fricking royalty are pretty fricking big differences there.
Drawing back to "Special orphan sent away and adopted" spreads out to so much folklore you can't even pin it down.
>Drawing back to "Special orphan sent away and adopted" spreads out to so much folklore you can't even pin it down.
yeah, it could just as well be peach boy
Isn't it Reference to Joseph
Wait is Joseph even in the bible
There's a couple Josephs in the bible. If you're talking about the son of Jacob, yes that's in the bible but he was a grown man when he was sold into slavery and worked his way up the ranks in the Egyptian court.
probably more based on a mixture of popeye and journey to the east and some martial arts movies he liked and mighty atom. People just say Superman because Superman and Goku have similar builds. At least compared to popeye.
DBZ even manages to drag the Popeye formual out to 26 episodes
Also a lot of Hokuto no Ken.
>similar builds
No, the origin stories are incredibly similar
>baby sent to earth by parents from a distant planet
>adopted by countrypeople/person
>ignorant of his origin
>purehearted
>becomes a defender of his new homeplanet
Toriyama even had a Zod-like situation with Radditz/Vegeta/Nappa.
That said, who the frick cares. People get too caught up in the whole "SIMPSONS DID IT" mindset. At the end of the day, Goku is his own character and DragonBall as a whole is its own story with its own unique ideas and presentations, regardless of how many things served as inspirations.
Dragonball is openly quite a mish-mash of many things. Journey to the West, Superman, a lot of other things. But it's kinda obvious that in anthropology this idea of a chosen protagonist being raised as an orphan is commonly used.
What does it take from Superman? Dragonball is a martial arts gag manga that turn into a space opera. Superman is hero that focus on political drama.
>Superman is hero that focus on political drama.
have you taken a heavy blow to the head?
It's a basic fact that Superman is boring gay that focus on social issues. Goku is a Chad that only want to fight.
>It's a basic fact that Superman is boring gay that focus on social issues.
have you read or watched more than 2 superman things?
He’s obviously autistic.
I don't know why people use Goku as Japan's superman when Japan has it's own superhero genre
Because he is more popular and relevant than any of them?
including superman?
Well yeah, Goku is selfish redneck, while Superman is an all-powerful moralgay.
They watched the Z dub.
You didn't finish shit. Stop lying.
>the ''actually, it is ours'' phase
>Goku is inspired by Wukong and Superman who are inspired by Hanuman and Jesus who are inspired by etc.
see how dumb it is to complain about something being inspired by another story or "ripping it off". Nothing is original. Stories taking inspiration from older tales is how it’s worked since the moment we could write
It's not. Amerifat israelites are desperate a random jap kick their asses and their industry is woke sjit now, so they lied about that, too.
OP is moronic and/or trolling
Ignore this stupid ass thread
literally all i can honestly say is, stop embarrassing yourselves, gaijins
>Toriyama is on record as a fan of Superman
>Goku's entire backstory retconned to be an alien baby sent to earth on a rocket ship for one from a dying planet after he wins the world tournament (later retconned to make Bardock even more like Jor-El and adding his mother)
>Raised by a kind old man in a remote area
>Super strong, fast, flight, returned from the dead
>Planet Namek is named after a Kryptonian "Nam-Ek"
>Suppaman
>Both characters used to be extremely clever fighters and are now constantly written as moronic flying bricks
>Both have feisty wives and hybrid kids with more potential
>In the Ocean Dub Bardock is a BRILLIANT scientist
>Both Superman and Goku called OP a giganerd after they beat up Vegeta
The similarities don't end
what about the first 1/3 of the series where almost none of that was established?
What about the part where I accept your concession?
is on record as a fan of Superman
He's a big fan of many things. Doesn't mean Dragon Ball is also literally The Terminator (despite that having more real estate over the manga's happenings than fricking Superman).
>Raised by a kind old man in a remote area
Who isn't a farmer but instead a martial artist, who we never meet until the third major arc, and who Goku killed when he was 6. Most characters fall into this by the way, go back to the 60s and Yabuki Joe is an orphan finding a surrogate father in washed up coach Danpei, Naruto is reliant on the third Hokage, Peter Parker has his aunt and uncle, the most common starting point for a narrative targeted at youths is that of the orphan, typically raised by or taken in by the older parental figure.
>Super strong, fast, flight, returned from the dead
Those are innate to Superman, whereas with Goku, he trained for those. His strength is also more in reference to martial arts films, and his flight is also derived from that alongside wuxia works, where characters will glide through the sky constantly. Later on, flight becomes a shorthand for getting characters to various places so the story can get rolling, but those are its origins.
>Planet Namek is named after a Kryptonian "Nam-Ek"
It's a play on namekuji, which means slug. Someone from Namek is called a namekuseijin (get it?).
None of that is relevant. OP asked why people compare the two and it was answered. The exact details and minutiae don't have to be accurate.
Why do you morons continue to make your baseless assumptions? We have Google. Look this shit up.
it's not weird to assume toriyama took some inspirations from american comics. no one denies that. it would be a little tho.
in a sense, it's far more important that he never used a ''I've never seen it'' kind of shitty excuse like americans do.
>he's an alien whose planet exploded
That's really it. The rest of the narrative is completely different
>him being an alien is not relevant for the first 16 of 42 volumes
>he killed his father figure when he was 6
>most of his conflicts in those first 16 volumes are him against armies, assassins, and one (1) demon
And in Z
>his Zod equivalent becomes his greatest rival who continues to live for the rest of the series
>his real antagonist is a planet level real estate agent followed by I suppose his Doomsday
>his Doomsday is a sophisticated and intelligent being that holds a tournament just because it'd be fun, and he gets killed by Goku's son
>the final arc is an exercise in finding a successor, and the ultimate conclusion is not some with the same genetics as him or his close friend's seed, but just some random incarnation of evil who gets a second chance to be good (just like him)
They really aren't all that similar beyond the origin story bit, and Goku's origin story is a twist, not the basis for the narrative.
he's based off monkey king, the superman retcon came in Z
I have a theory that Dragon Ball was ghost-written and Toriyama was only an illustrator. That’s why Toriyama “forgot” about many characters and details during the series, like Launch.
I have a theory that Black personman isn't gay, on tuesday
goku is a fricking chinese yellow ripoff of Black personman. now shut the frick up you pig shitting Black person fricking goyimite.
How do you function
Goku is proof that Shonen was a mistake.
>insult Superman
>Post scat porn to nuke thread
Why are the fans so fragile?
superman is a israeli homosexual
goku is a yellow chinese Black person
Touch grass, stinky
You're hurting nobody but yourself by saving and posting this kind of shit
I'm pretty sure that americans will start claiming most anime art styles except moe shit are all their inventions in 30 years
Why are there so many Cinemaphile tourists on here who eagerly try to shit on western comics/cartoons and have a fricking meltdown when you dare to have anything negative to say about anime, or even dare suggest that many anime took inspiration from western media?
They're all teens who are here for whatever israelitetube flavor of the month is popular.
So Hazbin Hotel fans?
Not "based on" him. He's more of a cultural equivalent.
He was based on Son Wukong. But Toriyama got tired of that and made him an alien, at first more of just a general evil alien turned good with only slight similarities to Superman. Then DBZ Minus came out and it ruined Bardock and Goku's origin.
3-0
Superman is based on goku
Their delusional little brains would sooner agree with this.
you are right, he is nothing like superman.. he is much much stronger.
