How is Homelander even a serious threat?

Last season showed that a normal guy on Compound V (Butcher) can go toe-to-toe with him. Which means a dozen juiced guys could kill him with ease.

Temp V is such a moronic idea.

the old tired "character loses superpowers only to get them back again" cliche nearly killed me. this show is a fricking meme

I’m not sure if it was a temp V thing in the comic, but eventually all the Boys were going to get super powers. It actually affects Hughie psychologically when he kills someone.

I’m a huge mark for the “evil twin” trope so I enjoyed how The Boys’ abilities mirrored their specific enemies’ abilities.

In the comic all the members of the Boys get a permanent Compound V treatment so they can't be easily one-shotted by any given supe. It doesn't give them powers beyond increased strength and durability.

In the comic only Highlander and Stormfront are really any threat to The Boys. They just wipe the floor with anyone else effortlessly. They're basically supes, but cool supes because they wear black trenchcoats and don't have gay sex.

Idk maybe I forgot something? Butcher hatefricks Hillary Clinton lookalike, Hughie fricks Starlight (obviously), Frenchies fricks baguettes and Female doesn't frick. Dunno about MM but he has an underage prostitute of a daughter.

Yeah there's barely any tension when they face off supes, it's like they're stomping on moronic kids, and sometimes that's literally what they do.

      >once you implement enough magic asspulls there's no longer any internal logic and everything feels arbitrary and pointless

yes, this is why comics and capehsit in general are things most people indulge for only so long. Stick with any book or series long enough and it always gets ridiculous.

    I love amazon!

    >The New York Times reports California has filed an antitrust lawsuit accusing Amazon of violating both the Cartwright Act and state competition law through its pricing rules. The internet giant is stifling competition by preventing sellers from offering lower prices on other sites, according to Attorney General Rob Bonta. If they defy Amazon, they risk losing buy buttons, prominent listings or even basic access to Amazon's marketplace.

It's partly why Stan wasn't afraid of him at all. Stan viewed him as a controllable problem child that could be executed if necessary, but would cost the company millions maybe even a billion in sales.

Nobody else new this stuff even existed until very recently.

Homelander is also a lazy piece of lanklet shit at this point.
If he actually spent time training he would be unstoppable.

This. There's a reason he solves 99% of his problems with the laser eyes. He was shaken by Butcher and Soldier Boy's first beatdown, so it could well become a plot point in S4.

By learning to actually fight. Most supes are nerd power fantasies and it shows in that other than being ridic strong they cant fight for shit. The other anon made a good point about Homelander beam spamming because of that flaw.

How would he train? Putting a thick steel bar between two humvees or something?

Antony Starr bulked for season 1, you can tell there's some actual, real muscle under the suit and he has a full, fat neck

I guess after that he just decided he didn't want to bulk anymore and since the suit is padded anyways no one really called him out on it and now Homelander is a skinny lanklet

        Anonymous

Imo, him being a lanklet is more appropriate for his character. He's someone who at one point probably gave a shit about his appearance but has become lazy over time.

Yeah he’s like Frieza. Immense latent potential but never bothered to train. He was born into royalty/stardom and never faced an actual threat. That’s why Omni-Man could clear him with a sneeze.

We've got Homelander about to meet with the Oh Father expy that'll fill his head with the coup idea, exploding head chick running for vice president, and the spinoff ended with Butcher stumbling across a weapon that can make Compound V users explode. Just need to make Noir a clone and we're getting the same ending.

How would he train? Putting a thick steel bar between two humvees or something?

Let him loose in a wrecking yard and tell him to bash everything to pieces. Put him in a car testing plant and smash a truck against him so he's used to taking a hit. Have him punch cows so he knows the quickest way to kill something. Worst case, have him spar against Noir or Maeve back when they were around. Maybe just let him beat the shit out of the Deep for a bit.

Temp V was highly volatile and poisonous. However Vought was not above sending in mercs to slow Homeboy down at their own peril.
Moreover, Homelander’s engineers should have given him a kryptonite because they knew they were making a human nuke.

      This:

They could've let Noir get a rematch against Soldier Boy.

Homelander attacks Noir but Noir escapes by jumping out the window or something.
Then during the final confrontation, Noir surprise attacks Soldier Boy mid fight causing Homelander to gain the upperhand against Butcher.
Noir either dies to SB or remains alive.

This would have been solid. Hell, keep Noir alive and have him work with the gang here and there.

The writers decided last minute to giga nerf Homelander. Early on the season Maeve implied she need to be in peak condition to maybe distract him for a moment, then in the finally she fights with him for several minutes and even damages him with a piece of scrap metal. It's very obvious that something went wrong early in S3's production, maybe the good writers quit or got overturned by execs wanting to shove their garbage, and you can clearly tell there's a massive dip in quality from the first few episodes to the later ones.
