Finally saw the finale. Thoroughly disappointing, especially if Jinx is going to become the new antagonist. It did not need that level of resolution. That's a series ender. They skipped mid boss and went straight to the final boss only to have it replaced with the mid boss which doesn't make sense. She can just frick whatever she wants up at will at this stage.
The crew didn't know if Disney was going to follow through on their promised renewal or not. Safer to make the S1 finale work as an ultimate finale.
Sure, fine but perhaps there was a way of doing things so we got the emotional payoff without the stakes rising so high. Like making anything in that sequence of events conditional. As it stands she's extremely effective and can go ghost at a drop of a hat.
Even if there'd been some other context for her going ghost, like in their hubris the council granting her temporary wraithood or something to frick with scratch, it would have given them more leeway to write ghost stuff in the future.

Well the season 2 finale is literally called "Jinx vs. The Human World" and they've said a character's going to become a new chairman next season, I don't see how else it could go.

It was rushed but I think its fine, its an episodic comedy, the big bad being killed means nothing. The whole ghost council probably had less than 10 minutes of screen before the finale. Whatever they do with Jinx isn’t going to really matter until the last couple episodes, because she doesn’t matter, except for being Scratch’s love interest.

It was the ticking bomb. Them existing, even without being shown frequently recontextalised what we saw and changed the show's dynamic. Moreover, they were important and fun - like them appearing at the dinner that one time. Without them scratch is even more directionless and without motivation than before - where previously his dynamic was in intentional or unintentional conflict with Molly. Now he has no reason but stubbornness not to enhappify shit.
Well, now they can explore his backstory, though the direction it’s heavily implied to be going in doesn’t seem to be one people are liking

It definitely feels like they blew their load by having Molly become a ghost, travel through the ghost world, get cast down to the show’s equivalent of Hell, destroy it immediately, and kill the ultimate evil just by poking him all within ten minutes in the first season.

What's worse is that the structure was never the problem, The Chairman wasn't the manifest leader of ghost society, representing the threat of a broader culture, rather he was the the foci and ghost society was manifest from his influence.
This is like replacing some elder God with an acolyte who wishes to keep the cult of worship going in absence of a God. Same rituals and goals just without any real ends in mind other than retaining a status quo.

In fact, if anything the amount of people released by the flow and the lack of a proper power base in The Chairman would point to civil war being untenable. Neither side can die and without the chairman neither side has sufficient means of suppressing the other.
Molly's joy energy only worked so well against the Chairman because he was the near incarnation of misery. She was his polar opposite. With Jinx, all she can do is put flowers in her hair.
