I dunno, how many comics do you want to read? Back when I still had a list, I would get about 4-5 comics a week. If you include the stuff I'd pick up on impulse or had plans to buy, I'd get maybe 20-30 a month. Most of the folks I knew or made friends with at the LCS would get about ten a week on their list. One guy got about 30, but there's always one guy who has to get everything.

Back in the day when books were higher quality storytelling, maybe 5 a week, sometimes a few more or less. But average 5. I buy 5 a month now.

Marvel has been shit since post Secret Wars. DC since convergence. Image can't keep a good series going, something gets hot by surprise and usually the creators only had one or two arcs in mind and then just force it to cash in. Indies in general have a similar approach as Image these days.

      Don't listen to this homosexual.

Marvel has actually been shit since Siege and DC since Flashpoint.

I'm liking a good few Marvel books right now. In DC I'm only reading Batman and Action Comics.

        You didn't answer OP.

Oh, the answer is zero to one. And none of mine are from the big 2. For my capeshit fix I moved to Boom's Power Rangers.

I've been liking Fire Power by Kirkman quite a bit.

I suppose I should add that in the oughts, my pull list was like eight books a week.

I haven't done the actual math, but at my LCS it feels like people who are in every week average $40 a visit. So that would make it about 40 titles.

That's what I pay for health insurance. That's a lot of comics.

NTA, but when I used to buy single issues, they would probably be my sole 'fun' purchase for that week. A few of the others I knew as well were much the same, they'd get comics over DVDs or going to the movies or drinking or anything. If it's the only thing you're interested in, yeah, $160 a month is a lot for one type of purchase, but if you add up your disposable income in a month, it's not out of the question.

    Currently? Zero.

I keep mine at about 10 books or so per month, so that the budget is $40 bucks. I've managed to keep this budget the same since I started reading comics back in college around the New 52.

I used to like to get like 4 DC, 3 Marvel, and 3 indies but now the only indie I'm reading is Shaolin Cowboy. And most of the books are DC now, which isn't ideal for my balance.

Oh forgot to mention I get floppies 20% off due to subscribing. There's one guy that picks up what looks like 70 comics at a time, and he doesn't look like who you would be expecting.

Exceptionally poor after buying so many comics?

That's nice. How common is it for stores to do that?

    >Get back into comics decide to see what's what with your favorite characters and some newbies you never heard of
    >Start with 20
    >First batch comes in see a bunch of ads for new heroes, gotta keep up with crossovers add on enough to make it 26
    >Drop a few issues because you bought books by their covers and they were shit and you're down to 18
    >Realize you don't have that much time for reading comics and the pile is building quick; coast on 11 for a few months
    >Everything goes to shit, gets retconned, gets a garbage creative team, or gets cancelled and you're at 6 now from all the drops
    >Just stick with your staples after being jaded towards all the status quo resets and comic tropes in general so you've got your 4
    >Keep 2 books until the storylines are over
    >Get out of comics completely. Stay away for a few years and then
    >Get back into comics decide to see what's what with your favorite characters and some newbies you never heard of

I have. . . ummmm. Three? Not even monthly since one is from Viz, so whenever that releases. And the other is a finite series so I've got six issues left. Who knows what's up with the other series. Second issue has been delayed forever.

Just buy what you like, unless the shop has a pull bin stipulation. Some places here used to have a minimum dollar amount required for a pull bin, but I think these days funnybook merchants are thankful for any business.
