remember that 10 year period where they tried to give the Batman spot to Hal?

More like the Wonder Woman spot. Batman was still front in center on a lot of stuff. It was just the Bat embargo getting in the way.

They didn't try that at all. Batman never stopped being their top book, especially after Morrison took over, but Green Lantern was doing incredibly well at the time thanks to the Johns run. They were finally seeing it as another viable IP next to Batman and Superman, and then Warner shit the bed hard with it.

The reason he's front and center in this image is because he was essentially the main character of New Frontier. Batman and Superman both had relatively small roles in the story.

No, I'm pretty sure that period never existed. When would you say this happened?

    Batman alone is 30 billion.

Youre moronic. Batman alone would fetch about 2 billion tops. The rest added in would be 10-12 or so. Star Wars proved IP isn’t worth going all in on. You pay for future worth not past performance.

      why?

what are you gonna do when you've bought the Batman rights, announce a AAA Batman game where you mash A to win and the real gameplay loop is just a shitty skill tree to make dumb people feel like they're athletic detectives? who's gonna voice that

you gonna make Batman 17 and see if anybody gives a shit? the majority of Batman movies are simply not popular at home or abroad

one movie after all costs and with all merch sales included isn't going to make more than 2 billion for the studio and that's the very best case scenario, we're talking top selling movie worldwide of all time with 9 month theatrical runs driven by demand

you'd need to do that 15 times to pay off a 30 billion investment

Batman as a comic has been complete shit since Grant Morrison rubbed his nuts all over it so they're worthless.

So we agree, Morrison's run was the pinnacle of Batman and it's been downhill since.

No, it's the last time Batman comics were good, but they had been better before.

How much of that can be blamed on the New 52?

Batman can probably make you up to 1 billion per decade. Given that you would expect your investment to pay off in at least two decades, I'd say he is 2 billion tops.
Superman maybe half of that. The Justice League and Teen Titans as properties about the same.
Watchmen, Green Lantern, Shazam, the JSA, Wonder Woman, the Flash, etc. maybe 100-400 million each. Lets say they have some 10-15 other properties worth about 200 million on average.

So realistically maybe 6-8 billion tops, but realistically 3-4 billion would be a fair price considering the decay of the brand and capeshit in general.

a single billion at most and that's if the stars align. Warner has done an insane amount of damage to hope for anything more.

Zaslov if this is you, please sell it to Disney. I want to see a superman and spidey crossover.
