The others/white walkers are an inherently unsustainable concept for a faction of antagonists and they were a mistake to include in the first place. When your group of villains are defined by both having motives beyond human comprehension and their immeasurable power and infinite number, there's no way to explain their motivations in a satisfying way or for them to be defeated in a way that doesnt feel like a cop-out. GRRM has no idea of what to do with them, which is one of many reasons the books will never be finished, and anyone still emotionally invested in them is moronic
DnD at least had the sense to realize the Emperor had no clothes and there was no "there" there with the White Walkers, and killed them off in an exciting battle that pushed the boundaries of scale in television production, and the ACTUAL final conflict of Game of Thrones was about the darkness that lies within the heart of those who seek the throne

This. I think the only realistic way to resolve it without it being a generic fantasy ending is making them lovecraftian and leaving their motives and actions - beyond driving the Wildlings south - completely alien.
How does that work for a story, though? What does GRRM do with them? Should they really be the final antagonists of the story when you can't resolve them satisfactorily?

The only way for those kind of villains, like the reapers in mass effect, to be defeated satisfactorily is to initially NOT have them be defeated. Like you need to have 95% of humanity die while the rest scrape around in the shadows for a couple generations, until the threat is weakened by something you can make up, and the heroes only get to achieve a most extreme Pyrrhic victory by the end. But this kind of plot structure would have required the white walkers to be the only threat
Not engaging with the magic systems was their downfall. People wanted more prophecy, not less. Euron and the Others are made for each other. Black Goat of Qohor & Littlefinger/Marwin stand in/Bravos bankers likewise. They didn't have the credentials or the chops from the outset, Day 1 pilot reshoot fiascos ect., and they phoned it in to move on to greener pastures.
The whole point of the white walkers is they're the true threat everyone's been ignoring the entire time that will kill them all regardless of the politics that go on. Their motivation was never important.

There should never be a Night King in the sense that there's one walker that destroys them all if he dies. It should be just a faction of otherworldly beings that every so often are able to breach the wall and go south and bring winter with them. And this time is especially cruel and most of the population must eventually abandon westeros because their wars were so moronic that the land is unsustainable. They squandered all their manpower and resources in the war, and the winter the Others brought will last a decade, so the humans must flee to another land. Perhaps this is what drives Dany mad, she first beats Aegon and the people despise her, then the place starts dying, so cold that people can barely live and are eating each other, they're all insane and ravenous, blaming her for coming and bringing her eastern hordes. The Others aren't as easily beaten since they don't just all fall apart by killing the head guy.

For all the talk about “winter is coming” they should have spent at least 1-2 full seasons with the zombie invasion. Should have been like the walking dead with political stuff all taking a backseat. Bran being king was fine but it should have been due to him performing some massively heroic act that impressed everyone. Perhaps when the walkers are invading some sort of warning or insight. The dead should have won the battle for winterfell
during the time travel brand tries to warn the king several times through his life of the coming invasion and to prepare but accidently makes him insane in the process and in order to stop the mad king using all the wild fire whispers into jamies ear to stop him at all cost.
brand tells john how the white walkers are defeated just before he is left behind
undead dragon is destroyed in the battle
Only John, Khalisi, The hound, Jorah and Jamie should have escaped via the dragons
mass amounts of refugees flee to kings landing clawing at the gates begging to be let in, at first cersei laughs smugly at how the north failed. then comes to realise how bad the situation really is when Jamie is dropped off at kings landing. from then she see's a possiability of being the last one left and lays a bounty on both john and khalisi's head while preparing all of the wild fire and a secondary wood wall around the city walls for the coming battle.
all adults conscripted to dig trenches and spike bits around the perimeter moscow style.
John then tells khalisi of the knowlege of how to stop the white walkers and the suvivors of winterfell set out to destroy the origin of the white walkers (in the edge of the North that we saw so long ago)
John knows that if they dont go there wont be a city to come back to and that there would be no way to trust cersei so the D&D team sets out
As snow falls on kings landing Cersei watches over her people building the defences, the wall is almost done but a large gap is laid at the middle. suddenly several horsemen can be heard/seen in the distance galloping as fast as they can swaying their arms in a manic fashion as they get past the pesants constructing the wall. As the riders pass the peasants they stop for a moment then begin to run with them until it is clear all of the current people outside are now running for the gate. screams can be heard outside as panic ensues.

the gates are closed forcefully shut keeping the last poor remaining souls as Cersei watches on.
the forest begind to sway left and right violently not by wind but as if something or someone was pushing it left to right.
slowly but surley dozens of lumbering undead giants push their way through. Jamie arrives at the wall with cersei and looks on and begins to start rallying troops for battle, cersei grabs his hand and tell him his is not in charge and will stay his hand or be left outside on his own with the rest of the filth. He stands in shock as the hoard approaches.
Cersei orders the archers/balistas/catapults on the walls to take aim, sound the alarm and whipsers into the ear of Qyburn and he nods and begins to run down the battlements.
the hoard decents onto the outwall into the gap and cersei gives the comand to let loose on the main channel with everything.
the wave is held back momentarily but contiues to pulse inwards towards the civillians locked outside on the main gate. the few pesants that are brave enough weild their picks and shovels in a desperate attempt to go out fighting but are easily succumbed and begin smashing themselves into the gate, wave after wave like an ocean. oil vats are poured all over to halt them but it is clear all it can do is buy time.
Cersei now takes jamies hand and begins to hurry away from the wall as he can only look back.
they arrive to the royale carrige and set for the main keep.
Euron's ships begin to fire from the waterline but can only do so much, Euron's face is full of fear and ponders just leaving for the islands however decides to stay until he see's them breach.
Back to john, they can see the the lair of White Walkers, deep in the Lands of Always Winter and the shrine where the night king was created. John pulls out the dragon glass and reminds everyone that the only way this can be ended is by killing the first resurrections.

If they want to stop the long night they'd have to kill the night king however with his current army it is impossible to get near him as his too powerful however killing the first white walkers at the laire would at least cripple the army of the dead and drain the power of the night king allowing for an actually attack on him.
they start battling the white walkers who protect the area, and push there way into the main lair. its an extremly old castle. built by maybe the first men themselves. in it there is a circular hall of 4 ancient white walkers. sitting in chairs similar to the three eyed raven, they creek as they all raise from their chairs and assume fighting positions.
John, jorah and The Hound ready themselves for a very hard battle. outnumbered and out powered. khalisi keeps the outside secure as she can from incoming white walkers and hoards of undead.
as the fighting rings out in the hall from the ice weapons bouncing off both john and Jorahs sword the sound revirbirates into the keep creating cracks in the top of the keep. the hound doesnt have a valerian steel weapon but instead a large waraxe with a dragon glass blade either side with john and jorah both having dragon glass daggers as back up.
the fight continues and 1 of the white walkers is slain however jorah is wounded with a stab to the leg but can still fight.
the cracks begin to get thicker at the top and the fragments of stone rains down onto the main chamber.
another white walker is slain but jorah is stabbed through the chest and the hound is whacked across the chamber as the ceiling begins to crumble opening up a gap into the night sky but also splitting up john from the hound. He is now alone fighting two white walkers with his sword. he tries his best but is clearly going to lose, he is stumbled and swinging rashly. until he is hit several times. john is whacked across whats left of the room and the final white walkers decend onto him.

Back to kings landing
as all hope seems lost for the soldiers of the kings landing. the hoard begins to collapse in great circles on the battlefield, those walkers left standing begin to fray wildly. like they are uncontrolled and begin to hit anything around them, including their own. this gives the soldiers a second wind and with the barrages of greyjoys fleet, the hoard seems to be being pushed back without its overwelming force. greyjoys face goes from serious to suddnely manic and laughing as he yells that they are winning with his mean cheering.
the hoard stops and a eiree silence rings out across the battle. 10s of thousands of bodies lay there, some old, some new, some fresh from the earlier folk that sucomend to death and horror earlier. the cold breath of the soldiers fills the night on the walls of kings landing.
then through the forest, the night king walks with his several generals beside him. they then begin to take aim with their javlins and suddenly. the gate of kings landing is hit by enourmous thuds. with each thud it feels as if the bearsing of the gate are being bent and loosened and worse. the javelins start to penetrate perfectly through the middle of the gate, creating cracks and splinters all through it with a larger hole being burrowed through at the middle. the hoard of walkers then begins to decend onto kings landing once again and the hope that was briefly had begins to be swallowed. although there are now gaps in the night kings army and far fewer giants, the army still outnumbers any in westerous combined.
the golden company rallies at the gate readying themselves for a battly that will begin shortly. a soldiers of kings landing begind to flee however the rest are kept in place by the brave words of the golden company's captain Harry Strickland. the rest stay for their final fight of the final night. the hoard are walkers are heard clawing punching and thudding at the gate trying desperatly to get in.

the eyes of the walkers are seen as parts of the gate begin to splinter and crack open from the pounding of the giants. The men and elephants of the golden company steel themselves. the gate crumples apart and the wave of undead pours into the main street. the sides barricaded with fences of dragon glass and fire as they are funelled towards the men of the golden company. the elephants charge in killing some giants but are easily swalled and stabbed down into the ground by the wave. greyjoy's face turns to hopelessness as he looks in silence at the gates of kings landing. he stamers at first but then shouts for the men to reatreat that hopefully, hopefully, the dead cant swim.
The dead begin to overwhelm the golden company and they are steadily pushed back,
the bells ring out across kings landing to signal the end. cersei looks on in horror as the citie starts to engulf in the icey fog. Qubern has arrived at her side and asks her to say the word. Jamie asks what that means as cersei looks at him despairingly. I'll burn them all, she smiles in a smirk knowing how ironic it is.
Slowly but surley, the end is in site. Each Defence position is steadily overwhelmed as the men of kings landing and the few remenents of the golden company pull further and further into the city, trying to block what ally's they can and set fire to whatever they can see. The red keep can be seen closly in the distance.The captain arrives on a horse and gives Cersei the news.
Cersei orders for the Red keeps gates to be shut. And says that those outside will just have to die outside instead of inside.
back to John
john knows his fate is sealed, he looks grimly up at the hole in the keep and the full moon that's perfectly aligned with it and lets out a smile and sight knowing that he did everything he could to try and help.

John closes his eyes as the whites are no more than metres away. The white walkers begin there wind up to strike when a rumbling thunder shakes the room unbalancing the white walkers as they turn.
Drogon's head reaches through the hole and grabs and it begins to snap violently at the white walkers who now begin to try to stab at the dragon. John strumbles to his knees and tries to run from the fight as the dragon lets out its fire that lights up the room.
The white walkers are completly incinerated but the fire spreads and hits john in the back, burning his back as he hits the floor. Khalisi then drops down from the dragon to his aid as drogon begins to push the rubble seperating the group. the Hound is on the other side trying to maintain pressure on jorahs wounds but it is clear there isn't much more he can do than bide time.
The Hound then swaps with khalisi and helps john onto the back of drogon so she can have her final words with him. His tears feel his blooded and dirty cheeks as he apologies for knowing he wont be there for the next fight. He continues to apologise as khaleesi cries and lets out a final breath. The hound pulls jorahs dead body onto the dragon and they take flight.
Back to kings landing. Jamies looks desperatly at the fighting, flames and fog. looking for something, a glimmer of hope somewhere. cersei sits there on her thrown as she downs her bottle of wine from her chalice. All that remains is the cup, she looks longinly at it, sad that, that's all that's left. she wouldn't be able to convince any hand maidens to get her more now as they are all most likely hiding like door mice around the keep from the horrors that are coming to the keep. One more gulp left
Jamie keeps staring out into the red keep watching the dots of soldiers move back closer and closer towards the keep along the main road. He stairs almost chanelling his fight into the soldiers until its stops. the line begins to hold, Why.

The black wave that was pushing the remaining soldiers began to collapse, the remaining blobs amongst the wave began to recead back into the city. Jamie squinted his eyes trying to make out what was going on. The soldiers swords stood their ground for what seemed like an hour as they expected another wave, it was impossible that they had won. but as the soldiers slowly, carefully, moved fowrad to see. the road was silent, bodies of thousands upon thousands of the dead laid there. There was a quiet calmness in the air as the fog began to lift around the city. Jamie's face unwrinkled with hope

BUrn them all, cersei barked to qyburn her glass fallen on the ground without a drop in it. Jamie stammered to tell them that the battle was shifting but she was too drunk and hopeless. buUrn them all. Jamie begged and looked at qyburn with the hopes that he'd look himself but cercei venoumously repeated the lines Jamie hated to hear. burn them all. Qyburn
stood there, frozen. without any will of his own to know what to do.
Burn them all. she was shouting at this point. Jamie knew that there was no choice, He tried to shake her into her sense but she was beyond reson. Sir strong Stood there at the door watching sword peaking from the sheeth. and Qyburn began to look at the door making his decision. Burn them all. Jamies face went into grief. he couldn't, not again. his eyes darted around the room for any escape but it was too late. Qyburn began to walk. Jamie then with great sadness gripped his world into his shoulders and pulled his knife to stab.
He made sure it was as fast as possible so she wouldnt't feel too much pain. Sir charged toward jamie pulling his sword.
Jamie stumbled backwards further and further until he reached the window. gripping the edges he looks behind at the troops who are starting to cheer in. and then back at sir strong who begins his stab and lets go. Jamie falls from the red keep.

qyburn grips onto cersies lifeless body looking for answers and orders should he light the wild fire. that he had prepared with cercei these weeks. was there still hope, his ears ringing with grief and stress. as he nelt there. holding the woman that allowed him to puresue his life goal and allowed him to save the very giant that stood in the room, that was still unable to keep her safe. he staired into her eyes looking for any answer.
As blood dripped from her mouth. slowly but steadily the ringing was overpowered by cheering from the window. qyburn stood up shakily to look from the window that jamie had dropped from and looked out onto the keep. the sun peaked on the sea line as people cheered. The fog steadily retreated into the forest it came from.
The battle was won, but the city was in ruins. bodies filled the streets of all types. giants, soldiers, women, children and the uncountable husks of the night kings army. fires crept across the houses. but the battle was won, for now.
Night King
the forest was silent. aside from the marching of a few horse hoofs and the thudding of the now almost countable army of dead that followed the night king. Although no words were spoken. the night king looked fatigued, his eyes didnt glow as bright. and the ground was almost thawing around him. Several of the generals that arrived with him where no longer there. There were all but 2 white walkers at his side. The Night kings army marched slowly, quietly, but steadily toward the north upon which he came. Knowing that there would be no dragons or warriors of light to battle when the winter would come again.

John laid on his stomach with the hound applying some healing moss that they had found on their journey back from the northern wastes. The burns were not terrible but he would not be able to fight for several days. The hound also look washed, there had been many battles he had faced. but non ever seemingly so hopeless.
The lands below were still, calm and the whether was clear. Brands vision and tactic must have worked, there was no way to truly know without flying past kings landing but they were not in a position to risk it for now. Although Johns wounds were not terrible, they left him unable to fight properly for the next forceabily days to a week, even with the healing moss. John floats the idea of them staying at kings landing, a chance to not only rest but to possible bury their family and friends properly. They flew for a short period of time until the half crumbled silhouette of the keep of winterfell came into sight and then landed.
John struggled to stand but eagierly darted his eyes around for Brans body, Arya's Sansa's or even Sam's. someone's but the court was empty. as was the keep, as was the stable as was the barracks. only blood stains were left. The only items John could find were Needle laid about in the library along with Sansa's chain and Tyrions hand of the queen badge in the crypts laid decorativly on the tomb of a long dead stark
The hound was more happy about this because it meant no grave digging of death stentch and set himself up in the kitchen eating drinking and shitting all he wanted. John and Khaleesi set up in the head stark family room and rested. There was still food and rations aplenty, logs for burning and wine to drink. Aside from knocked over tables and blood stains, the keep was as if it were frozen in time.
The group rests and enjoys the time they have.

I actually really liked Cersei's decision to holding her armies back. I would have the white walkers win the battle of winterfell but the living forces retreat so they don't get a huge army. I never understood why they originally and fans wanted the white walkers to then suddenly ignore the rest of the country and go to king's landing. I would have them slowly move through they country killing everyone in their way including important characters like Jamie. Then I would have the Lannister's join in and they have a final battle at king's landing. I would have Cersei come out of the situation the winner as an unexpected ending and killing the dragons but instead of executing Jon and Daenry's she offers them to go back to Winterfell and Essos to show that the war changed her for the better and she values life and people more now.
Night King produces a double bladed ice saber and stabs John Snow then gets sliced in half by Daenerys.

Perhaps this is what drives Dany mad, she first beats Aegon and the people despise her, then the place starts dying, so cold that people can barely live and are eating each other, they're all insane and ravenous, blaming her for coming and bringing her eastern hordes. For all the talk about “winter is coming” they should have spent at least 1-2 full seasons with the zombie invasion. Should have been like the walking dead with political stuff all taking a backseat. In the end it should have been jon snow who killed them and probably sacrificed his life fighting them and with Beric and the hound. Arya should have killed Dany. Bran being king was fine but it should have been due to him performing some massively heroic act that impressed everyone. Perhaps when the walkers are invading some sort of warning or insight. Instead of just sitting there like an butthole the entire time.

The dead should have won the battle for winterfell
during the time travel brand tries to warn the king several times through his life of the coming invasion and to prepare but accidently makes him insane in the process and in order to stop the mad king using all the wild fire whispers into jamies ear to stop him at all cost.
brand tells john how the white walkers are defeated just before he is left behind
undead dragon is destroyed in the battle
Only John, Khalisi, The hound, Jorah and Jamie should have escaped via the dragons
mass amounts of refugees flee to kings landing clawing at the gates begging to be let in, at first cersei laughs smugly at how the north failed. then comes to realise how bad the situation really is when Jamie is dropped off at kings landing. from then she see's a possiability of being the last one left and lays a bounty on both john and khalisi's head while preparing all of the wild fire and a secondary wood wall around the city walls for the coming battle.
all adults conscripted to dig trenches and spike bits around the perimeter moscow style.
John then tells khalisi of the knowlege of how to stop the white walkers and the suvivors of winterfell set out to destroy the origin of the white walkers (in the edge of the North that we saw so long ago)
John knows that if they dont go there wont be a city to come back to and that there would be no way to trust cersei so the D&D team sets out
As snow falls on kings landing Cersei watches over her people building the defences, the wall is almost done but a large gap is laid at the middle. suddenly several horsemen can be heard/seen in the distance galloping as fast as they can swaying their arms in a manic fashion as they get past the pesants constructing the wall. As the riders pass the peasants they stop for a moment then begin to run with them until it is clear all of the current people outside are now running for the gate. screams can be heard outside as panic ensues.

the gates are closed forcefully shut keeping the last poor remaining souls as Cersei watches on.
the forest begind to sway left and right violently not by wind but as if something or someone was pushing it left to right.
slowly but surley dozens of lumbering undead giants push their way through. Jamie arrives at the wall with cersei and looks on and begins to start rallying troops for battle, cersei grabs his hand and tell him his is not in charge and will stay his hand or be left outside on his own with the rest of the filth. He stands in shock as the hoard approaches.
Cersei orders the archers/balistas/catapults on the walls to take aim, sound the alarm and whipsers into the ear of Qyburn and he nods and begins to run down the battlements.
the hoard decents onto the outwall into the gap and cersei gives the comand to let loose on the main channel with everything.
the wave is held back momentarily but contiues to pulse inwards towards the civillians locked outside on the main gate. the few pesants that are brave enough weild their picks and shovels in a desperate attempt to go out fighting but are easily succumbed and begin smashing themselves into the gate, wave after wave like an ocean. oil vats are poured all over to halt them but it is clear all it can do is buy time.
Cersei now takes jamies hand and begins to hurry away from the wall as he can only look back.
they arrive to the royale carrige and set for the main keep.
Euron's ships begin to fire from the waterline but can only do so much, Euron's face is full of fear and ponders just leaving for the islands however decides to stay until he see's them breach.
Back to john, they can see the the lair of White Walkers, deep in the Lands of Always Winter and the shrine where the night king was created. John pulls out the dragon glass and reminds everyone that the only way this can be ended is by killing the first resurrections.

If they want to stop the long night they'd have to kill the night king however with his current army it is impossible to get near him as his too powerful however killing the first white walkers at the laire would at least cripple the army of the dead and drain the power of the night king allowing for an actually attack on him.
they start battling the white walkers who protect the area, and push there way into the main lair. its an extremly old castle. built by maybe the first men themselves. in it there is a circular hall of 4 ancient white walkers. sitting in chairs similar to the three eyed raven, they creek as they all raise from their chairs and assume fighting positions.
John, jorah and The Hound ready themselves for a very hard battle. outnumbered and out powered. khalisi keeps the outside secure as she can from incoming white walkers and hoards of undead.
as the fighting rings out in the hall from the ice weapons bouncing off both john and Jorahs sword the sound revirbirates into the keep creating cracks in the top of the keep. the hound doesnt have a valerian steel weapon but instead a large waraxe with a dragon glass blade either side with john and jorah both having dragon glass daggers as back up.
the fight continues and 1 of the white walkers is slain however jorah is wounded with a stab to the leg but can still fight.
the cracks begin to get thicker at the top and the fragments of stone rains down onto the main chamber.
another white walker is slain but jorah is stabbed through the chest and the hound is whacked across the chamber as the ceiling begins to crumble opening up a gap into the night sky but also splitting up john from the hound. He is now alone fighting two white walkers with his sword. he tries his best but is clearly going to lose, he is stumbled and swinging rashly. until he is hit several times. john is whacked across whats left of the room and the final white walkers decend onto him.

Back to kings landing
as all hope seems lost for the soldiers of the kings landing. the hoard begins to collapse in great circles on the battlefield, those walkers left standing begin to fray wildly. like they are uncontrolled and begin to hit anything around them, including their own. this gives the soldiers a second wind and with the barrages of greyjoys fleet, the hoard seems to be being pushed back without its overwelming force. greyjoys face goes from serious to suddnely manic and laughing as he yells that they are winning with his mean cheering.
the hoard stops and a eiree silence rings out across the battle. 10s of thousands of bodies lay there, some old, some new, some fresh from the earlier folk that sucomend to death and horror earlier. the cold breath of the soldiers fills the night on the walls of kings landing.
then through the forest, the night king walks with his several generals beside him. they then begin to take aim with their javlins and suddenly. the gate of kings landing is hit by enourmous thuds. with each thud it feels as if the bearsing of the gate are being bent and loosened and worse. the javelins start to penetrate perfectly through the middle of the gate, creating cracks and splinters all through it with a larger hole being burrowed through at the middle. the hoard of walkers then begins to decend onto kings landing once again and the hope that was briefly had begins to be swallowed. although there are now gaps in the night kings army and far fewer giants, the army still outnumbers any in westerous combined.
the golden company rallies at the gate readying themselves for a battly that will begin shortly. a soldiers of kings landing begind to flee however the rest are kept in place by the brave words of the golden company's captain Harry Strickland. the rest stay for their final fight of the final night. the hoard are walkers are heard clawing punching and thudding at the gate trying desperatly to get in.

the eyes of the walkers are seen as parts of the gate begin to splinter and crack open from the pounding of the giants. The men and elephants of the golden company steel themselves. the gate crumples apart and the wave of undead pours into the main street. the sides barricaded with fences of dragon glass and fire as they are funelled towards the men of the golden company. the elephants charge in killing some giants but are easily swalled and stabbed down into the ground by the wave. greyjoy's face turns to hopelessness as he looks in silence at the gates of kings landing. he stamers at first but then shouts for the men to reatreat that hopefully, hopefully, the dead cant swim.
The dead begin to overwhelm the golden company and they are steadily pushed back,
the bells ring out across kings landing to signal the end. cersei looks on in horror as the citie starts to engulf in the icey fog. Qubern has arrived at her side and asks her to say the word. Jamie asks what that means as cersei looks at him despairingly. I'll burn them all, she smiles in a smirk knowing how ironic it is.
Slowly but surley, the end is in site. Each Defence position is steadily overwhelmed as the men of kings landing and the few remenents of the golden company pull further and further into the city, trying to block what ally's they can and set fire to whatever they can see. The red keep can be seen closly in the distance.The captain arrives on a horse and gives Cersei the news.
Cersei orders for the Red keeps gates to be shut. And says that those outside will just have to die outside instead of inside.
back to John
john knows his fate is sealed, he looks grimly up at the hole in the keep and the full moon that's perfectly aligned with it and lets out a smile and sight knowing that he did everything he could to try and help.

John closes his eyes as the whites are no more than metres away. The white walkers begin there wind up to strike when a rumbling thunder shakes the room unbalancing the white walkers as they turn.
Drogon's head reaches through the hole and grabs and it begins to snap violently at the white walkers who now begin to try to stab at the dragon. John strumbles to his knees and tries to run from the fight as the dragon lets out its fire that lights up the room.
The white walkers are completly incinerated but the fire spreads and hits john in the back, burning his back as he hits the floor. Khalisi then drops down from the dragon to his aid as drogon begins to push the rubble seperating the group. the Hound is on the other side trying to maintain pressure on jorahs wounds but it is clear there isn't much more he can do than bide time.
The Hound then swaps with khalisi and helps john onto the back of drogon so she can have her final words with him. His tears feel his blooded and dirty cheeks as he apologies for knowing he wont be there for the next fight. He continues to apologise as khaleesi cries and lets out a final breath. The hound pulls jorahs dead body onto the dragon and they take flight.
Back to kings landing. Jamies looks desperatly at the fighting, flames and fog. looking for something, a glimmer of hope somewhere. cersei sits there on her thrown as she downs her bottle of wine from her chalice. All that remains is the cup, she looks longinly at it, sad that, that's all that's left. she wouldn't be able to convince any hand maidens to get her more now as they are all most likely hiding like door mice around the keep from the horrors that are coming to the keep. One more gulp left
Jamie keeps staring out into the red keep watching the dots of soldiers move back closer and closer towards the keep along the main road. He stairs almost chanelling his fight into the soldiers until its stops. the line begins to hold, Why.

The black wave that was pushing the remaining soldiers began to collapse, the remaining blobs amongst the wave began to recead back into the city. Jamie squinted his eyes trying to make out what was going on. The soldiers swords stood their ground for what seemed like an hour as they expected another wave, it was impossible that they had won. but as the soldiers slowly, carefully, moved fowrad to see. the road was silent, bodies of thousands upon thousands of the dead laid there. There was a quiet calmness in the air as the fog began to lift around the city. Jamie's face unwrinkled with hope

BUrn them all, cersei barked to qyburn her glass fallen on the ground without a drop in it. Jamie stammered to tell them that the battle was shifting but she was too drunk and hopeless. buUrn them all. Jamie begged and looked at qyburn with the hopes that he'd look himself but cercei venoumously repeated the lines Jamie hated to hear. burn them all. Qyburn
stood there, frozen. without any will of his own to know what to do.
Burn them all. she was shouting at this point. Jamie knew that there was no choice, He tried to shake her into her sense but she was beyond reson. Sir strong Stood there at the door watching sword peaking from the sheeth. and Qyburn began to look at the door making his decision. Burn them all. Jamies face went into grief. he couldn't, not again. his eyes darted around the room for any escape but it was too late. Qyburn began to walk. Jamie then with great sadness gripped his world into his shoulders and pulled his knife to stab.
He made sure it was as fast as possible so she wouldnt't feel too much pain. Sir charged toward jamie pulling his sword.
Jamie stumbled backwards further and further until he reached the window. gripping the edges he looks behind at the troops who are starting to cheer in. and then back at sir strong who begins his stab and lets go. Jamie falls from the red keep.
The Queen Slayer

qyburn grips onto cersies lifeless body looking for answers and orders should he light the wild fire. that he had prepared with cercei these weeks. was there still hope, his ears ringing with grief and stress. as he nelt there. holding the woman that allowed him to puresue his life goal and allowed him to save the very giant that stood in the room, that was still unable to keep her safe. he staired into her eyes looking for any answer.
As blood dripped from her mouth. slowly but steadily the ringing was overpowered by cheering from the window. qyburn stood up shakily to look from the window that jamie had dropped from and looked out onto the keep. the sun peaked on the sea line as people cheered. The fog steadily retreated into the forest it came from.
The battle was won, but the city was in ruins. bodies filled the streets of all types. giants, soldiers, women, children and the uncountable husks of the night kings army. fires crept across the houses. but the battle was won, for now.
Night King
the forest was silent. aside from the marching of a few horse hoofs and the thudding of the now almost countable army of dead that followed the night king. Although no words were spoken. the night king looked fatigued, his eyes didnt glow as bright. and the ground was almost thawing around him. Several of the generals that arrived with him where no longer there. There were all but 2 white walkers at his side. The Night kings army marched slowly, quietly, but steadily toward the north upon which he came. Knowing that there would be no dragons or warriors of light to battle when the winter would come again.
John
John laid on his stomach with the hound applying some healing moss that they had found on their journey back from the northern wastes. The burns were not terrible but he would not be able to fight for several days. The hound also look washed, there had been many battles he had faced. but non ever seemingly so hopeless.
The lands below were still, calm and the whether was clear. Brands vision and tactic must have worked, there was no way to truly know without flying past kings landing but they were not in a position to risk it for now. Although Johns wounds were not terrible, they left him unable to fight properly for the next forceabily days to a week, even with the healing moss. John floats the idea of them staying at kings landing, a chance to not only rest but to possible bury their family and friends properly. They flew for a short period of time until the half crumbled silhouette of the keep of winterfell came into sight and then landed.
John struggled to stand but eagierly darted his eyes around for Brans body, Arya's Sansa's or even Sam's. someone's but the court was empty. as was the keep, as was the stable as was the barracks. only blood stains were left. The only items John could find were Needle laid about in the library along with Sansa's chain and Tyrions hand of the queen badge in the crypts laid decorativly on the tomb of a long dead stark
The hound was more happy about this because it meant no grave digging of death stentch and set himself up in the kitchen eating drinking and shitting all he wanted. John and Khaleesi set up in the head stark family room and rested. There was still food and rations aplenty, logs for burning and wine to drink. Aside from knocked over tables and blood stains, the keep was as if it were frozen in time.
The group rests and enjoys the time they have.

not sure if anyone is still reading these but I think im going to call it a night(day now). I hope these schizophrenic blog posts were somewhat enjoyable to read as a fanfic. Its been a while since I re-watched the series (have any of us) so there are some details i remembered half way through and regretted not putting in but hey ho. I actually really liked Cersei's decision to holding her armies back. I would have the white walkers win the battle of winterfell but the living forces retreat so they don't get a huge army. I never understood why they originally and fans wanted the white walkers to then suddenly ignore the rest of the country and go to king's landing. I would have them slowly move through they country killing everyone in their way including important characters like Jamie. Then I would have the Lannister's join in and they have a final battle at king's landing. I would have Cersei come out of the situation the winner as an unexpected ending and killing the dragons but instead of executing Jon and Daenry's she offers them to go back to Winterfell and Essos to show that the war changed her for the better and she values life and people more now.
