It's statistically impossible to make a good movie. The odds are against you. You have less than 1% change to succeed. Something like 35 000 movies were released last year globally.
>it's easy you just do it! >just do! >problems and nuance aren't real and everything is easy! >just do it! >JUST
You talk like an untalented fag who has never created anything
>How the fuck can you take their opinions on movies seriously after this?
Space Cop definitely knocked Mike down a peg.
His ego was legitimately getting out of control.
I'm not American, so I have a better understanding of movies produced both budget & quality wise. An average American commercial movie is so much better than the average Swedish, Finnish, Spanish, German, Italian, French etc. movie that are made with sub 10 m € budgets (Nordic movies average like 1.5 m €). Clearly making good movies isn't that easy.
exactly. but people who are driven by passion will try anyway. but these guys aren't, they are driven by their ego and self-image. they are afraid of trying to make something in earnest because that would open them up for the same criticism they themselves dish out. so instead they put their arms up and say "you can't criticize it, it's supposed to be bad!", because to them, being shielded from criticism is more important than actually trying your best.
someone who is full of love for the art will sincerely try their best and will put a bit of their own soul into their work. because as they love the work of other artists, their first instinct is that someone else will also love their work. someone who is self-centered, juvenile and full of vitriol is afraid to expose themselves like that, because they assume that whatever they make will only receive vitriol in turn. they don't really care about making movies, they just want the attention. or maybe, somewhere deep down, they really do want to make good movies, but are just too afraid to do so.
i view insincerity in art as a disease, and it's caused by weak artists projecting their insecurities onto others.
"There's a lot of excitement, there's a lot of buzz and it doesn't make a lot of sense to me because I have no interest in intentionally shitty movies. The best bad movies are the ones where the people making it didn't realize they were making a bad movie."
- Jay Bauman (director / star / producer) of Space Cop on Sharknado
They're all inbred wetbrained Milwaukeeans. The fact that they even have a large fanbase is a miracle in and of itself.
Has any youtuber ever made kino in their entire life? Every time it's low budget cringeslop
The problem is for two people who present as experts on film, the filmmaking presented is beyond amateurish. Just because a film is a comedy, doesn’t mean you can ignore critical aspects like lighting, shot blocking, wardrobe, sets, props, etc etc. Their fans crowdfunded them to make an actual film and got a very long, unfunny version of a Half in the Bag bit.
They are totally reliant on being film critics on YouTube for their livelihood, and Mike built their reputation off the back of the Plinkett prequel reviews, which made reference to technical aspects of filmmaking only a film student at the time could realistically be expected to know. Plus throughout most of the early Half in the Bags they refer to themselves being film school graduates and shill their various student projects.
>They are totally reliant on being film critics on YouTube for their livelihood, and Mike built their reputation off the back of the Plinkett prequel reviews
and your point is what?
People have jobs that require things?
WWWOWWW
>How the fuck can you take their opinions on movies seriously after this?
Space Cop definitely knocked Mike down a peg.
His ego was legitimately getting out of control.
Hilarious how Mike refused to ever allow this guest to return after this call out. Objecting opinions is not allowed in RLM, they only want nodding Yes Men like Jack. This dude stood up to Mike, and so Mike immediately had him blacklisted.
>The character of Space Cop is pretty funny
Exactly how? Rich basically just put on a Halloween costume and did his traveling monkey routine of being oblivious in an extreme way.
>How the fuck can you take their opinions on movies seriously after this?
I literally never have, I watch their videos purely for entertainment and sometimes to find out what a movie is about so I don't have to watch it. But they often have horrible takes, and when they try to appeal to their "expertise" on filmmaking it's cringeworthy. Recently I finally watched Jordan Peele's 'Us' and it was one of the dumbest, shittiest mainstream films I've ever seen, story-wise, and then I watched their HitB episode on it and they were praising it. They're fucking idiots, but they're sometimes funny idiots.
Never take critics too seriously. They are probably helpful for pointing out when a movie is absolute shit before you go to the movies. Anything else, meh.
I remember when the critics suddenly declared Vertigo as the best movie of all time. It's OK but what is this based on? What authority do they have? In my opinion, they have none.
I have never made a movie, yet I have opinions on which are good and which are bad. I have never built a car, yet I have opinions on their quality as well. I have never coached a football team, yet I could DROWN you in my opinions as to what does or does not constitute good coaching. See where I'm going with this? The quality of their own films does nothing to invalidate their opinions of other movies. (You) will, of course, ignore all this and go on with your fallacious arguing. Nevertheless, it bears stating for the record that OP is an unmitigated homosexual and a perfect example of intentional retardation. He and his ilk are to be ridiculed at every opportunity. Thank you and God bless.
difference is that you arent making youtube videos about your non professional retarded opinions while asserting you can do better than the thing you criticize
Even if I was, who's making you watch it? Are you actually implying that YouTubers have some kind of respnsibility to "their" audience? Some kind of journalistic integrity or some shit? Motherfucker, ACTUAL journalists don't have any such accountability, how in the actual fuck could a pack of Milwaukee slackers have any?
Fucking retard.
I never said anyone is forcing me to watch it you moron, the point is that when a retard grabs a megaphone and starts yelling retarded opinions saying they can do better than professionals, then they go on to demonstrates they clearly cannot, they deserve to be made the subject of mockery
furthermore, when it comes to trusting reviewers, its much easier to trust someone who demonstrates some aspect of prowess in the thing they are criticizing over someone who has literally zero prowess.
you dont have to be a master mechanic to review cars, but i will trust someone who knows how to go under the hood more than someone who cant tell parts apart from one another
this is so fucking obvious yet you obfuscate with the most brainlet shit ever by saying "well no one forces you to watch it" what a banal and retarded thing to respond with
>grabs a megaphone and starts yelling retarded opinions
That isn't what having a youtube channel is. Not even remotely. RLM cannot invade your attention, even if they wanted to. >saying they can do better than professionals, then they go on to demonstrates they clearly cannot
And that would be YOUR opinion. >they deserve to be made the subject of mockery
as would this - mock away, btw. I have no problem with that >when it comes to trusting reviewers
And here you unmask your retardation for all to see. They're dipshits on youtube. They have NO responsibility to provide (You) or anyone else with good, accurate information. Particularly not when all they are reviewing are FUCKING MOVIES IN THE FIRST GODDAMNED PLACE. Saying they can do better is just another opinion. And here's one of my own:
Space Cop BTFOs the entire Prequel series. In writing, cinematography, and just plain SOUL, it is a far better movie that anything George Lucas has touched since the 1970's.
Suck on that one, homosexual. Your opinion is wrong.
I don't think anyone here takes their opinions seriously.
Why don't you go to their patreon and ask them why they take their opinions so seriously that they pay for it?
Anon it took me nearly 10 years on Cinemaphile to realize this but nobody takes their opinions seriously. Anons and RLM are or were at one the modern equivalent of boomers just mindlessly copying opinions from the radio. It's so bad that people don't even realize NOTHING about the plinket star wars review was original. People had been saying that shit for a decade but suddenly it was all attributed to them and if you have any negative thing to say about the prequels you are just "copying" what you heard from RLM. This is clearly just projection because again, no one takes their opinions seriously they just copy them. Anyone with this slightest bit of discernment with the goal of analyzing film wouldn't have given these guys 2 seconds of their time at any point in RLM history. Do not invest thought into their fans because they do not invest thought into movies. It's just a waste of time.
Ira Glass laid it out in an interview once. People who have good taste are generally attracted to creative pursuits but there's a lag between when you start making art and when you actually get decent at it, at least 10 years or something. So a critic, with good taste, who tries to make art in their chosen medium, will initially fail at it. Because this person has good taste they will recognize that it is bad, and as a self-defense mechanism will preemptively sabotage the project as one big joke that is not to be taken seriously. AVGN: the Movie was also sold as a comedy for the same reason
Anyway the RLM fellas having good taste but being bad at filmmaking is entirely consistent. I can't make a kebab but I know where to get the best one in town is- same shit
just some lads having a little bit of fun, you should try it sometime
Why couldn’t they make a decent movie AND have fun at the same time?
It's statistically impossible to make a good movie. The odds are against you. You have less than 1% change to succeed. Something like 35 000 movies were released last year globally.
Anon plz, is just lighting properly rehearsing scenes memorizing dialogue and knowing your cues to make it easy to edit
You go do it once leave, undisciplined americans...
>it's easy you just do it!
>just do!
>problems and nuance aren't real and everything is easy!

You talk like an untalented fag who has never created anything
So tiresome
After ten years of dealing with you people...

For talentless hacks with no tripods, back in the day the weight of the camera demanded a tripod, making "proffesionalism" a feature of the machinery

Could be, is also true that disney will have to survive star wars

They're all inbred wetbrained Milwaukeeans. The fact that they even have a large fanbase is a miracle in and of itself.
Has any youtuber ever made kino in their entire life? Every time it's low budget cringeslop
So you take the opinions of critics who have NOT make a movie seriously entirely based on the benefit of the doubt?
Critics are failed filmmakers.
true
Are filmmakers failed critics?
The movie was just the humour they have in their videos in a feature length movie, I don't really see the problem
The problem is for two people who present as experts on film, the filmmaking presented is beyond amateurish. Just because a film is a comedy, doesn’t mean you can ignore critical aspects like lighting, shot blocking, wardrobe, sets, props, etc etc. Their fans crowdfunded them to make an actual film and got a very long, unfunny version of a Half in the Bag bit.
>two people who present as experts on film,
Nobody claimed this, only autists like you
how much did you donate to have the film made?
They made a career criticizing people with more talent than them.
Ok and? lots of people do that
I don't give a shit
They are totally reliant on being film critics on YouTube for their livelihood, and Mike built their reputation off the back of the Plinkett prequel reviews, which made reference to technical aspects of filmmaking only a film student at the time could realistically be expected to know. My point is you’re a fraud, Jay.
ok, let's start with that, is this board replacing youtube comments?
At the rate they’re going, israelitetube are probably going to paywall comments within the next year.
Knowledge =/= skill
Space Cop is based except for having that wife killing homosexual cameo and Mike's shitty over acting.
Oswalt is definitely one of my triggers. I started freaking out and swearing when he came on the screen.
>critic are usually critics for a reason
Shocking.
>food critic
>can tell you a dish is oversalted
>can only do mac n cheese on his own
???
Well you're a seething prequelfag, so it's impossible to take your opinion on ANYTHING seriously.
that's a decent explanation for these threads
Because they mostly criticize movies that are as shitty as space cop. They're not tearing down the godfather
Link your youtube channel so I can tell if you can criticise youtube channels.
That guy is Alexandre O. Philippe, a quite succesful documentary filmmaker
>blacklisted
You mean disallowlisted, sweetie.
People like Mike can't create so they base their personality around attacking talented and successful artists like Lucas.
The character of Space Cop is pretty funny but the movie as a whole stinks.
>The character of Space Cop is pretty funny
Exactly how? Rich basically just put on a Halloween costume and did his traveling monkey routine of being oblivious in an extreme way.
ITT: everyone pretends like space cop is the only movie RLM has made.
I wouldn't trust senna to make a car. But I'd sure as fuck trust him to drive one

Us was terrible, but Nope was actually decent. not amazing, but a far more coherent movie.
>making movies is the same as critiquing them
zoomie is still upset about prequel reviews?
Gen-Xers are a blight.
>A mostly boring with a few killer jokes
>put all of them in the trailer.
Many such cases.
>When your childhood hero hates & loathes you.
I actually can’t. I stopped watching them entirely after this.
Can someone explain what Jay meant by this?
Jay seems to resent White people for some strange reason.
You know were we are son

why do you say "their" when there is only one person on the image
They are hiding behind the fat guy, holding the stage in place
Who should I watch instead?
I have never made a movie, yet I have opinions on which are good and which are bad. I have never built a car, yet I have opinions on their quality as well. Not even that means taking their opinion seriously. People just pay so they get more content they enjoy.
