The Northman had barely any proper marketing, the posters were awful.
The filn itself was not much weirder than Mad Max Fury Road. Eggers is incredibly accessible.

it's a light, fun, blockbuster that anyone can go see. I even thought they did the love scenes really well, where you could bring a young kid in there and it wouldn't be uncomfortable for them. It had something for everyone.

This movie is good, but it doesn't need this level of moronic shilling.
The last 40 minutes were action kino of the highest order. I legit had a physiological reaction to some of those real POV shots. My hands were sweating.
Aside from that, it was a middling blockbuster full of clichés

Cliched isn't bad if it's pulled off well. I knew exactly how the movie would end after Maverick survives being shot down and still had a great time.
I didn't say cliche was necessarily bad. I knew they would steal a f14 the moment they showed that the enemy casually had some but I still dropped manly tears when that happened
The last movie to get me to the edge of my seat was Pacific Rim when Gypsy Danger gets to the sea battlegrounds. Top Gun 2 had a legit exciting ending although cliche'd.
