Someone like Otis Blackwell for instance would have likely died in complete obscurity and not made even close to as good money as they did off royalties and such if somebody like Elvis hadn't brought them to the masses. Do I even have to point out the fact that most of black twitter wouldn't know those songs that Elvis "stole" if Elvis hadn't performed them in the first place?
I don't deny that his management and label could have definitely done things better on their end (Elvis' management insisted on Elvis name being on the songs that Otis Blackwell wrote by myself if Elvis was to perform them. However, Blackwell himself wasn't too bothered by it and in multiple interviews had stated he was more than satisfied with the money he made off those songs) and one could argue Elvis himself might have done a better job as well (although for the record he was a LOT better at giving dues to black culture and black musicians than his label and management were) but, for better and worse he was a pretty humble God fearing Jesus loving man and at the very least he didn't choose the music he performed out of spite for black people or trying to bury their music but rather to bring that music to more people because he loved it.
