the literal years of experience in the field and a general scope of what they want to do with the series being apparent is obvious that's why pytor was a kino villain and I'm sad to see him go.

Pyotr was all the more threatening because he was the serious one amongst a cast of comedic characters, I think.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Whatever they said their feelings were, I feel like giving up on TTS was secretly a huge relief in terms of no longer needing to resolve all the plot threads seeing how convoluted and overstuffed the writing got right before they sort of turned it around in the last episode.

the literal years of experience in the field and a general scope of what they want to do with the series being apparent is obvious that's why pytor was a kino villain and I'm sad to see him go.

So thoughts on future characters from TTS coming to HTP:
        Corvus being a Corax (wereraven)
Leman as a Garou with a hate boner for Markus
        The Pillarstodes as Toreadors
"The Monk" from episode one and the credits actually being The Regent herself

          Anonymous

There's a non-zero chance that the Monk is in fact the Prince herself. Pyotr implied she's been aware of the Family this entire time and has been indirectly backing them to remove her rivals or dissidents

            Anonymous

Oh frick, you don't think she Embraced Horse do you? Do we know what generation the Prince is?

              Anonymous

We don't know what generation this Prince is, but going by the list of known Princes in Europe and the Americas, she's most likely sitting between 5th and 6th if she's especially old and prominent. MAYBE as high as 4th.

              https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Princes_(VTM)

She could also be as low as 7th or 8th, but I doubt it.

So would you say TTS ending was kind of a blessing because being able to do more original stuff?

      Anonymous

I never thought I'd say this, but yes. For a long time TTS was nothing but reading the lore while various things happened in the background. It started to pick up at the end, but it was still very passive and mostly just characters talking at each other. HTP is infinitely better in this regard.

Then again Paradox doesn't seem to have issues with fan content using WoD so maybe Alfa figured they could do more. Also who wants to bet that Leman will be a Garou? Or is Zoran just done?

With the way Hunter's been going I'd say yes.
I have no idea how they're planning to make a Half-Life thing interesting but I've been surprised before.

      Anonymous

On one hand it felt like they've worked themselves into a corner regarding the story/plot of TTS and struggled to find a way out of that without it turning to shit.
But on the other hand, the character interactions in TTS were a little bit better, as they had that "je ne sais quoi".

But when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.
And then your pour that lemonade into the eyes of life as you've prepped it so you can waterboard the SHIT out of it for not only inconveniencing you, but trying to make up for it by just giving you lemons.

No. Catmod was the moderator who fricking ruined /tg/ by bullying all OC creation off of the board with arbitrary fricking rulings while answering to no one. He would almost randomly delete on-topic threads with hundreds of replies from invested people while leaving shitposts full of shitposts up until bump limit, then avatargay with pictures of cats while claiming he was "saving the board".

Now /tg/ is a wasteland of general threads and idea guys desperately trying to come up with interesting topics, while nobody who can draw, write or otherwise possesses a useful skill bothers with the place anymore.

Him being such a homosexual is partially why moderators and jannies no longer identify themselves in any meaningful way.

        oh
he's the reason why /qst/ exists and is as stagnant as it is, because it lacks what /tg/ gave it

He's known more colloquially as Nazimod. Notorious for ruining /tg/ and leaving it a wasteland of parasitic spammers, shitposters, and cancerous smutposters making some of the worst threads and posts on the board.

Literally the only thread I even bother with nowadays on /tg/ is the Horror general, and the shitposters left in Catmod's wake have done their level best to try and lay waste to that one as well.

He was why /qst/ was created. The homosexual hated fun

Everything wrong with /qst/ makes sense with that into perspective. The people who could create were pushed into there. The people who fawned, gave ideas, and had discussion kept on to /tg/

/qst/ has one actual thread for discussion and it is a bloated mess while actual quest discussion is mocked as being off topic and advertising yourself to what should be your main audience is seen as shilling

Yeah, Games Workshop is the worst tabletop games manufacturer apart from all the others. They might be coasting on their sheer size, but its amazing how terrible some of the other names in the industry are. Privateer Press came pretty close the last time GW almost killed themselves, and then catastrophically fricked it almost immediately.

                Anonymous

Games Workshop never ceases to amaze me, at one moment they seem to be real cunning businessmen, the next they are blubbering morons that you can't help but question how they they haven't gone bankrupt yet
Sometimes both at the same time

                Anonymous

They're run by astonishingly greedy businessmen who refuse to understand their product and pretty obviously have nothing but contempt for their audience, but they've been blessed with really strong marketable aesthetics, a unique set up that's let them bully their way to the top of the market and stay there, and an audience with more whales than the Sea of Japan. Its an exploitative nightmare of monopoly capitalism that completely insulated the people at the top from their demented decisions, and it keeps going because some people really will pay any price for Space Marines so long as the marine makers aren't actively calling them morons.

That is popularly attributed to people needing to busy their hands while locked down from Covid. Which means that watching their stock contract now is also expected. We'll see how the company reacts.

I think it works for new setting, all the characters had a fair amount changed about them so they weren't just carbon copies of their TTS versions and Kitten/Magnus being in relationship makes sense for the new dynamic.

              Anonymous

Too bad the sorta-friendly sorta-hostile interactions between them in TTS were among my favorite things, and that shit got staked hardcore with the implication of them being in a relationship.

So excuse me for being salty AF about that shit and hating it with the intensity of a thousand suns, because I have a very good reason to do so.

The kind of schism and conflicts between characters in something that can best be described as a buddy-cop action drama but without any cops, isn't something any amount of suspense of disbelief can make work as a actual romantic relationship.
And the former thing is what I'm missing from those two goofballs like a jonesing heroin addict is missing their next fix.

I look at the current state of 40K and that abortion of Fantasy they call AoS, and James Workshop being shit aside I honestly can't fault them for giving up on the setting.

They're more likely to be either Banes (Very Bad News) or direct agents under the Maeljin Incarna (Extremely Bad News), who are themselves under the Urge Wyrms, who are THEMSELVES below the Triatic Wyrm.

Yeah, that would make sense. Mikaboshi the Yama King would be a good fit for the Deceiver come to think of it, although getting into Kindred of the East lore is probably too big an ask. Especially if /someone/ gets the idea to make jokes about E X A L T E D references and how many things for Infernals are name-lifted from Kindred.

          >Banes
Evil spirits in service to the Wyrm, the principle of Destruction and entropy. Closest analog to actual Chaos Daemons, being horrible reslity-warping masses of corruption.

          >Maeljin Incarna
Particularly powerful Banes who were once-mortal, now ascended as fundamental embodiments of things like Greed, Perversion, etc under the service of their respective Urge.

          >Urge Wyrms
The twelve Urges are the metaphysical and spiritual emanations of the Triatic Wyrm's own corrupted desires and feelings, each one embodying an awful aspect of reality. They need the Maeljin to act as their enforcers and proxies since they are incapable of manifesting themselves.

          >Triatic Wyrm
The three foremost heads of the Wyrm, 'born' after it shattered itself in its own madness. They are the Beast Of War (Wyrm of Calamity), Eater Of Souls (Wyrm of Consumption), and Defiler Wyrm (Wyrm of Corruption) and all the Urge Wyrms and Elemental Wyrms are branches off of these three.

Lower than many due to the abundance of weak kindred, but there's a MASSIVE power-jump once you get down to the lower gens. A Methuselah like Big D boasts killing, 4th Gen, can physically drop mountains on you, move so fast it looks like it's teleporting, hit hard enough to turn you into vap9r, and a whole host of other things. The Antediluvians are the this generation and are literal world-enders in terms of scope and power.

              >Werewolf
Has the highest level threats outside of Mage (arguably even then, due to how the Triat remain a constant into the other splats) and Wraith/Orpheus. The Wyrm and Weaver are 2/3 of the principles who gave form to all realities and both have gone utterly bugfrick insane. The Wyrm seeks to turn the universe into a rotten corrupted hellscape for all eternity as all things dissolve into entropic chaos. The Weaver wants to strangle all existence in its webs forever, creating a cosmos entirely stagnant and full of mindless automata. Pristine and sterile with nothing to taint it.

The Garou fight various minions of both, but the Wyrm is what they focus on since it's the more immediate threat.

              >Changeling
Aside from the very concept of Banality itself, there are the Fomorians who embody the primal and ancient darkness dwelling in the human heart. Who also just so happen to be Wyrm-related.

Yeah, the 3rd gen had no reason to eat the 2nd. The whole, leveling up processs wasn't in place yet. The C-Dog went all biblical on their asses, made the blood thin and gave all the Antes curses.

Though, the blood also, according to some sources, eventually starts to thicken the frick back up, implying that generations are a cycle and eventually some lucky motherfricker gets to be Caine 2.0

Also you know, generally a bad idea to rapidly embrace and thin the frick out of the blood, cause that speeds up the waking of your clans anteduvelian. As seen when the ravnos, like moronic monkeys, decided to beef with the Kuei Jim and performed mass embraces to to the extent they made the Sabbat seem darn picky about who they shovel headed.

And then daddy ravnos woke up, sending the whole clan in a cannibalistic orgy frenzy as he began to chow down on them and Bangladesh while his Chimerstry illusions became reality all around him

Thus began the week of nightmares

To end game level kuei jin tried to take him down with a magical storm, as all of clan Ravnos murdered and ate eachothet while their progenitor gorged himself on them.

Then the technocracy, looked down from their space stations while planning how to punch magic in the dick to cripple it a third time, noticed hell had emerged on earth in the center of Bangladesh and its name was motherfricking Ravnos

So they dropped the ghost of one of the nukes that ended WW2 on the city

This, of course, wiped out anything that somehow survived having Ravnos as its neighbor for a week and the schizo reality aura he created around himself. Including the three kuei jin and all of wraith.

Literally the entire wraith gameline died when the technocracy threw the first sucker punch at the angry vampire God.

But, despite this massive collateral damage of the main afterlife, and a huge ass city, Ravnos was still fricking kicking

And was now extremely pissed off as his Food was gone and something had mildly harmed him. And despite the magic storm being broken, the ancient bastard was so powerful the sun did shit to him.

But, the technocracy wouldn't let the world end so easil, so uttering the immortal line "we have more than one way to bring the sun to Bangladesh"

And proceeded to move the massive orbital mirrors they had all around space, to concentrate and direct a beam of sunlight, turning it into a godamn orbital laser beam.

Which they aimed and fired at Ravnos, right as his spooky ass crawled out of the crater that had been Bangladesh. It was q cheap shot, but it worked, and a creature that had drank the blood of Gods and witnessed the flooding of the world and endured eons as an apex predator of the night was burned like an ant under a magnifying glass by a bunch of nerds. Nerds who just bought the world some time and prevented it from immediately becoming a larder for the 3rd generation by fricking killing one of them.

Yep. In the 20th anniversary edition of VtM, week of nightmares happened and the only ravnos still around were lucky sons of b***hes or members of the Sabbat that survived by being beaten into torpor and tied down by their pack mates.

And kind of. See, when lots of people die, it causes a great maelstrom in the underworld/shadowlands, which destroys it and wipes the slate their clean. This was the sixth and last.

The fall of rome, black plague, Colonization of America, Spanish flu, WW2, atomic bombings and the holocaust all caused a great maelstrom.

The technocracy using the ghost of one of the atomic bombs made the sixth happen completely by accident, since by sheer coincidence they sit it off next to the mouth of oblivion

This actually lead to an obscure gameline called orpheus, focused around exploring the remains of the underworld

Meant to say week of nightmares still happened in 20th, even if they removed Gehenna and kept the setting as if it had continued as if nothing happened

That's kind of mage in general. Especially the technocracy. Frick, one of the sons of ether took over the world after WW1 enforce piece and the dominan of higher Learning. Which forced the traditions and technocracy to team up to stop the Tzar of earth and his zeppelins.

He was only stopped cause the technocracy ran out of killer robots trying to kill his ass, and started sensing genetically modified troops in their place. And the good tzar was a pacifist who refused to end another human life, so he took his zeppelins away from the skies above every major city, and retreated.

At which point the accumulated paradox he had earned by breaching the masquerade so flagrantly and openly using massive amount of magic smacked him out of existence to the point, in history he just never was born.

And he still survived out of reality somehow, and in one of mages end of the day scenarios leads his fleet of zepplins to help save the world and reality

                >Wraith/Orpheus
Malfeans, who are the malicious spirits literally born from Oblivion who seek to drag all creation kicking and screaming into the void and are headed by the Neverborn, the greatest and oldest of their number. Beyond even them though is Grandmother, who is either God's evil twin, Oblivion itself, or both. She wants to devour all reality but ironically, she's less evil than her offspring. She just seeks to create a new multiverse where her children are free of suffering but needs to erase the old one to do so.

There is even outright a way to stop Grandmother by managing to communicate with and telling her that the tiny miniscule 'motes' she's devouring are the souls of humans and conveying that they are ALSO her children, which gets her to stop and basically chill out.

                >Demon

Bad. Casual reality warping for some of the stronger ones, the ability to completely corrupt the spiritual landscape of a place, destroy souls by proximity, take on Garou in head on fights and win, the works. Banes can be weak and relatively harmless, since the term is a catch-all for Wyrm servants, but most of the time you're talking about seriously nasty entities. Dream Makers for instance worked to create reality in service to the Weaver and Wyld, and whilst vastly diminished, there's still an echo of the power to create whole universes within their dark forms.

It helps that V:TM is built with the premise that you can sit down with your friends and do a campaign in your hometown and just set it in either current year or past year, and go through the events that happened as you remember them with the added caveat of Leeches pulling the strings. Anything disrupting that delicate balance of "Humanity is mostly ignorant of the supernatural" gets harder and harder to justify when there's like 9 different systems for the hyper-realistic modern setting.

I only go to /tg/ when a new dungeon meshi chapter drops and occasionally to lurk the character art threads. Ive like the ratkin worldbuilding threads but beyond that there little more to enjoy there for me. /tg/ didnt went to shit, it was willingly shoved into it by the mods there.

I started hitting /tg/ regularly around 2016, but not heavily until 2018. What have I experienced of this process?

Also, nazimod (I have heard that name, but I thought it was the guy who crushes anything he thinks might be furry on Cinemaphile, like val salia) is gone, so what stops anyone from getting creative? Inertia? I mean, I've seen people try. And how it goes, but I don't really understand.

                Anonymous

                >What have I experienced of this process?
The tail end, garbage forced memes and a disinterest in creativity.
                >what stops anyone from getting creative? Inertia?
In practical terms yes, it's inertia and the community, though I don't like describing the boards that way.
What /tg/ used to have was a host of lurkers and active posters that had a genuine interest in creative exercises and ideas. These people would respond positively to threads, offering insight and ideas of their own while giving the threads staying power and popularity.
What /tg/ has now is shitposters who will ridicule with dumb shit they think is funny, if the thread gets many responses at all. Because there's not much of anything for them, the occasional creative types go elsewhere rather than stick around.

This could change, but that isn't likely.

Its a combination of lots of things, but in last... I want to say five years, you've also got two new problems that pull in the same general direction. 1) General culture completely taking over the board, so you get these balkanised little communities discussing the exact same things every day, and then immediately remaking the same thread to do it again, with increasing hostility to the kind of free form, single topic thread discussion that was the board's bread and butter. New content doesn't develop as organically, because people with different perspectives who could contribute to something outside their normal wheelhouse dont even see most of the posts anymore 2) people from reddit, twitter, imgur and YouTube taking anon posts as part of their own hustle / personal brand building. It was annoying when it was just for clout and imaginary Internet points, but people actually profiting with extremely low effort "text to speech readings, like comment and subscribe for more" and paid promotions next to screen caps caused a massive chilling effect. Why make the effort to write something amusing when some other fat loser will directly profit from it? When someone posts a potentially interesting thread starter, its tainted by the suspicion that it's been started by someone desperate for channel content, not for the love of whatever absurd thing it is today. Anons also learn from each other how to behave and what the culture appreciates from screencaps - if screencaps are posted less to spite content harvesters, how do you learn that you CAN post random thread topics.

Combine that with a demographic shift across the whole site towards the most miserable gits on the Internet coming here to moan and we are where we are.

How was it that bad? Did he ban to that extent? I mean, this is fricking Cinemaphile. How is that even possible?

Catmod nuked literally any thread with content that he found personally offensive. He nuked Quest threads, /tg/'s very best threads and primary source of writing, drawing and just general content creation. He nuked threads calling him out for being a powertripping lunatic, he nuked threads that were purely on-topic, and everything inbetween. He scoured the board so fricking badly that /qst/ was made just in a desperate attempt to keep some of that board culture around. He ruined /tg/ so fricking badly that it has never recovered to this day and likely never will.

He is the universal embodiment of why mods no longer engage with anyone here.

Space marines are all created with gene seeds based on a primarch, some have very apparent flaws, the ones created with his have two, one give them a very strong, and literal thirst for blood, they used to indulge on it until they meet him, he told them they shouldn't and inspired them to resist it, after he died another flaw appeared, an uncontrollable fury that makes the marine loose his mind and go berserk, there's more to it, but details aren't important, it's similar to the lupo's thrall of the wyrm in some ways, it can trigger with time or tense situations, also after he died, one group of marines that descends from him saud frick it, and freely indulge on drinking blood and eating the flesh of his enemies, while most of the others avoid it, unless to specifically use their organ known as the omophagea, all of this, they try to keep a secret from almost everyone

See, back in the day, they had a policy that historical human atrocities were never committed or orchestrated by the supernatural. Sure you'd have a nazi werewolf here and a vampire nazi there, but they didn't cause the holocaust.

This was followed for the entirety of the original run of the setting, up to it suffering like twelve different apocalypse at once.

Then, years pass. New world of darkness and Chronicles come. Twentieth anniversary is released for the Old World of darkness lines, condensing the lore and making it actually digestible and follow able without buying stacks of source books

This revives interest in VtM, which combined with the ambient hype brought about by bloodlines, lead WW to reconsider Gehenna and bring back VtM after being bought by paradox

And the first book, the fricking first book, they abandoned their policy of "supernatural do not cause human attrocities". Cause it was released when The Chechnens were killing all of their gays. So WW thought it was a wonderful idea to virtue signal and say the fricking Camarilla, the vampire society that wants to stay hidden and upholds the masquerade violently, actually openly ruled Chechnya and had decided to wipe out all the gays for...reasons?

Unsurprisingly, being told they were ruled and controlled by vampires pissed off the Chechnyan government. And also the gays, who were outraged WW would make light of their suffering

So paradox took white wolf behind the shed, and blew their brains out. And V5 had to hobble along until they could release their own books for it

Kitten and Magnus were shipped LONG before WoD. Also i want a Garou mommy gf

1st edition was moronic and barely resembled VtM. It was quickly replaced with 2nd. Lots of weird and nonsensical things existed in those first books, before WW knew what VtM was or even imagined gamelines beyond it, once they did, they removed most of the early lore and replaced it with the more familiar metaplot. Shit, vampires were supposed to be the source of every myth and monster, with the clans standing in for one each. And the camarilla were the main enemies, which came back in V5

In the actual, codified setting, they were normal humans.

                *Nosferatu

Nictuku are some scary motherfrickers by the way. They're practically all 4th gen, and are the reason nosferatu are more loyal to their clan than government, and are why camarilla, anarch and Sabbat nossies tend to work closer together than they do with the rest of their sects.

It's because their ante, believing he'll be beautiful again if all his childer and decendants die off, still embraces new vampires for the sole purpose of sending them to murder the frick out of the nosferatu.

All of them are diablerists, and are bloated with stolen vitae, but they are such a threat, not because they have swallowed dozens of souls each at least, but because they're always a step or two beneath the angry vampire God. You'd have to look to find anything higher than 6th gen amongst them

Baba yaga was 4th gen herself, and over 7000 years old.

She got fricking curb stomped by one of her sires new children. You don't frick with the nictuku.

Googled it and according to the wiki, it wasn't a e-girl it was a shota that killed Baba Yaga. A shota that was about to be executed for killing villagers as a human child before he was turned by the nossie's antedeluvian, then immediately ate most of the villagers and saved the rest for later.
Vasilisa was probably a genius killer as a human and that translated very well into his unlife, he was also BFF (best frick forever) with his sire.
So it's not too far fetched that the shota fricked over the hag.

Fun fact about Vasilisa: he can appear as anything he wants to be, regardless of form or gender. It's why the wiki and book default to "it" instead, since nobody knows what Vasilisa originally looked like. The only thing that's consistent is that he appears in an innocent looking form.

This also means that the fricked up sex shit he got up to with his sire is way worse than what you're thinking of.

Dracula, also, was a vampire. But by his own choice. He was a free, self made ghoul who avoided several camarilla and Sabbat assassination/ enslaving attempts, until he caught a low gen tzmisce and his sire, forced him to embrace him, then ate his grandsire to immediately free himself from the blood bind.

He also met the flesh cathedral, watched it eat its owner, and escaped its halls alive

Paradox was encouraged to buy White Wolf by an employee named Martin Ericsson who larped as Dracula (this is not a joke, Swedish Dracula paid money to have himself be the dracula portrait in one of the kickstarter books - pic related). Paradox buys it all for a relatively cheap amount because the EVE Online developers are tired of botheting with it, Martin gets put in charge of the entire line and immediately directs it into being 1st edition early 90s Masquerade centred around his own live action rp rules, homebrew and fluff. His first actual product as brand manager was a Vampire: the Masquerade slot machine.

This was the leadership that steered a team of halfwits into an international incident at mach 3.

‘No, this isn't it at all. Make it more... psssshhhh’ He hissed on his fricking fingertips, like the air coming out of a bicycle tire, and then just walked away.”

Short version: White Wolf is doing well, partners with Icelandic CCP games. In theory CCP wants to develop a WoD memory, in practice they actively damage the teams and sit on the licence. The last financial crash happens in the late 00s, the entire publishing industry takes massive damage but especially RPG parts of it, because books become very expensive to produce (especially glossy high production affairs with a very niche audience) and ereaders and such aren't nearly as accepted as today. White Wolf suffers some more. Eventually it gets so bad that Paradox can pick them up for cheap... and this guy is put in charge.

Paradox was encouraged to buy White Wolf by an employee named Martin Ericsson who larped as Dracula (this is not a joke, Swedish Dracula paid money to have himself be the dracula portrait in one of the kickstarter books - pic related). This was the leadership that steered a team of halfwits into an international incident at mach 3.

At some point the teams running the nWoD content are cut back almost to nothing and are moved to a separate imprint called Onyx Path that essentially just has a handful of employees, lots of freelancers and funds projects entirely by kickstarter. This model produces some excellent work (Demon the Descent and recently Deviant the Renegade, which is essentially Guyver: The RPG) and also Beast (a blight).

That is popularly attributed to people needing to busy their hands while locked down from Covid. Which means that watching their stock contract now is also expected. We'll see how the company reacts.

Can I hear more about Beast? I read the Fatal & Friends thing once, but I've never seen it discussed on here.

Well what do you want to know? There's very few people with active experience who've played it, because it's universally panned. Luckily, the developer did a playthrough game showing off how you're meant to do it!

The only vaguely moral one here is the antique shop owner defending his shit, and I can’t tell whether that’s by design or whether the creators literally thought these were morally correct characters. I mean for frick’s sake, John’s description comes off like they’re trying to support child molesters.

One of the suggested ways to play that kind of Beast is to make sure something valuable is put somewhere tempting and then murderape anyone who so much as looks at it. In fact, here's an example from the book itself!
                >Patrick and Ahmed are a Makara Collector and a Makara Nemesis, respectively, who fell in love. Patrick placed his treasures at the bottom of Ahmed’s lake, and Ahmed resolved to punish all those who would dare to steal his lover’s hoard. People come to the lake to almost every week, looking to dive down and take the “abandoned treasure.” Of course, Patrick makes sure to spread the rumors about the treasure. That way people come looking, and his lover gets to punish them.
See? You don't even have to make it as obvious as an antique shop.

                >Well what do you want to know?

As someone who is remarkably obtuse and needs this stuff pointed out to him, please draw the links between the maker's deviance and the sanctimonius attitude of the book. Ikm rereading the F&F thing, and I'm wondering if these 'stereotypes' quotes are in all the books, because they are the cringiest thing. Also, tell me more about Guyver: The RPG, holy shit why have I never heard of this.

Beasts are abuse elementals, essentially. They act like vampires, in that they hurt people to feed, but they look exactly the same as you or I until they bring you back to their lair. The book deliberately writes Beasts as being a persecuted minority, and their antagonists as gamergaters, soccer mom busy bodies, and bigots in general. Beasts have "urges" to feed, but its all part of the natural order and a good person knows to let them do it. You've read the F&F review - all the quotes, including the steotypes, are genuinely in the book. It's horrible stuff, right?

After the book comes out, someone makes an accusation that the lead writer-developer, Matt Mcfarlane (John Dawson the predatory coach

                >Matt plays John Dawson (Ugallu (Predator). He owns a house in the neighborhood, where he takes people (children, often), whose families are lying to one another and otherwise toxic. He lets them freak out, then returns the kid a few days later, unharmed.

Oh, his wife knew? That is a new level- that's beyond one guy's dark compulsions and into systematic behavior. Which is the difference between the book being a Freudian slip or being conscious propaganda.

Nobody knows, but its creepy as all get out and the author line is so obvious, so threaded through the text and survived multiple rewrites that it taints the whole thing. It's why Beast's only real use is to create immensely hateable antagonists or as a filter for the worst kind of player - you DO NOT want an unironic beast fan at the table. It's an amazing hate read though.

Oh, also, while I remember, one of the later Hunter books did touch on Beasts the Sunny in Philadelphia crew grind them up for viagra

writing up this post I did come across a reddit page on Hobby drama titled "[RPG] Beast: The Primordial, or the story of Matt McFarland" which covers this all in detail if you care to know more

There's also a F&F review of the Beast expansion, which is worth reading for Null Snyper (the hacker on steroids behind Gamergate) and The Blind Man dick eggs. No, I will not provide further context.

                >Also, tell me more about Guyver: The RPG, holy shit why have I never heard of this.
Its called Deviant: the Renegades and its more or less just come out. You play as someone who has been remade by something horrible and now has funky powers and an equal amount of bizarre scars. This is probably the best writeup I can find for you quickly, you can almost certainly get the actual book from /tg/

Well no.. see, WoD fans hate the newest edition of vampire the masquerade, V5. Since it rapes the settings lore and tries to make Old WoD like new/ chronicles of darkness in how it's played. V5 was so bad, it got WW killed by paradox, fricking paradox for being too woke. Not even joking, one of the first books of the edition nearly caused an international crisis.

Hunter the parenting, however, follows the lore WoD gays like, the setting they care about before it was revived and turned somehow even gayer Than before.

They actually handle sexuality rather tastefully. Markus and Kitten aren’t acting like flaming homosexuals and the only times you even remember they’re a thing is when D calls kitten son in law or uses them as an excuse as to why their basement is a dungeon to try and throw of his interrogator. As for D the only reason people are aware of his preferences is because of one of the two second intermission clips that points out he’s had ex wives and ex husbands and ex children. It’s played off as a joke and never brought up again. Compare that to most modern depictions of homosexualry.

            [...]
Garou were basically made to be Gaia's fangs and claws to protect the other Fera whilst they did their jobs and tried to mend and soothe the fractured Triat. Then they fricked it up because they were never meant to be anything BUT warriors. They've killed so many of the Fera actually built for combating the Wyrm that they're now forced into roles they were never built for and all the remaining Fera hate them for the atrocities they committed during the War of Rage.

Reminder that one book even has it so that the Impergium, the Garou's routine purge of humanity to keep their numbers low, not only drove the vast majority of humanity straight into the Weaver's embrace but has also been implied to have driven the Weaver even MORE insane when they started murdering her faithful along with the werespiders.

            >Werebears, the healers of the Fera, able to raise the dead and without the usual bullshit that comes with it in WoD
They could also work to heal the madness of the Wyrm on a scale none of the other Fera could.

At this point, we're fricking stuck with the Garou. Killing them means there's nobody left who can actually contest the Wyrm and Weaver. The Practices are too fractured and weak, the majority of vampires benefit Wyrm operations in some way, the Technocracy is irreversibly compromised, Changelings are fighting a losing war against Banality as it is, most Hunters are moronic and can't see the bigger picture, etc.

No one played them, just like wraith, changeling and mummy. And their NWoD counterparts are shit, and are played even less cause playing machines larping as Demons isn't what people wanted, like changeling the dreaming was mostly ignored for being out of place in the setting. Especially since actual Demons and angels exist in NWoD, but they chose to make the playable ones robots.

Demon the fallen was cool. But, you'd have a hard time convincing people to play it instead of vampire, werewolf, mate and probably hunter

Demon is based simply for being the only canon nWoD splat that the Beast Mary Sue "we're family, that means we MUST get along-even you, Changelings ;^)" aura doesn't work on. Whatever they are, the bullshit happy feeling that makes them think everyone is connected to the Dark Mother does NOT fire on them.

Which means that Demons are ripe for going full Kamen Rider on Beasts.

I thought the joke with Magnus and Kitten is that Magnus was excited to have a friend because he didn't have a childhood (like getting excited for a bike), not that he was gay for Kitten.

Big D straight up calls Kitten his son in law at one point, but yeah most of the jokes are Magnus getting a chance to finally nerd out and getting Door into vidya

                Ah right, fair enough.

What are these "Beasts" specifically? I ask because I'm not familiar

The nWoD version of bogeymen, basically. Dudes who wake up one day to find out a monster of nightmare is living in their soul. They gain power and grow by feeding off fear, which their culture rationalises as "lessons" they are meant to enact on humanity, and have the ability to create localised supernatural phenomena out of a nightmare as well as the ability to transform themselves to a lesser extent. Think the kind of things Pennywise did in the movies. Each also has a Lair, a sort of pocket dimension in the astral realms, in which they can do even more nasty shit; compare Pennywise out and about to Pennywise when the kids are fighting it in the second movie, basically. They believe they're descended from a figure called the Dark Mother (who has in turn been theorised to be the nWoD's Tiamat, Lilith etc in-universe) who is also a common ancestor to the other types of supernatural being, and that's how they explain their ability to develop new powers by observing other supernatural entities or empower theirs. Except Demons.

Also as noted above, Beasts are the awful, awful idea of a sex criminal and when you get down to it literally otherkin with powers. It's also not gone unnoticed that a MUCH better fangame, Leviathan the Tempest, handled a similar premise much better way before Beast was published.

It also has to stated that the original version of Beast was hated about as much as something could be, a game where you literally play as an abusive monster who was friends with all the "cool" kids and whose enemies were so pathetic they couldn't touch you. Beasts are opposed by people called "Heros," who are painted as bad guy racists because they are psychically compelled to hunt the Beasts. Beasts are portrayed as good guys throughout the book despite the fact that they are literally monsters that only want to torture ordinary people and all heroes were literally portrayed as karens and gamergaters who deserved everything that happened to them.

This only got slightly altered when the wokescold that was the driving force behind the book was outed as an actual fricking rapist.

Having yarr harr'd the finished product out of curiosity, I honestly don't see any meaningful difference between the two. Heroes are 100% in the right and justified. Beasts all deserve to be genocided off the face of the earth. Suffer not the xeno, the daemon and the heretic.

The "revised" version has some of the dumber bits taken out, but the main point is that they changed the relationship with Beasts and Heroes. In the first draft, Beasts who did terrible things and "overfed" basically traumatised people of low moral character so much that they became obsessed with murdering the Beast that did it. In the revised version, Heroes and Beasts are on the same spiritual wavelength, so a hero knows when a beast does something horrible. A "good hero" knows not to intervene, however, so any ones that come after a Beast are fair game. Except that this fig leaf isn't consistently applied through the whole book or its expansion, so whatever. The Fatal & Friends review does a side by side comparison, if you want to know more.

I personally really like the rest of nWoD, and unlike that anon above think techno demons as spy fiction is really cool, but I can understand some people prefer the 90s books. Beast, however, serves exactly one purpose, and that's if someone says "Beast is great game that didnt deserve the hate!" you know you should shun them (and probably check their basement)

                > In the revised version, Heroes and Beasts are on the same spiritual wavelength, so a hero knows when a beast does something horrible.
                I repeat.
EVEN in revised, Heroes. Did. Nothing. Wrong.
                >A "good hero" knows not to intervene, however, so any ones that come after a Beast are fair game. Except that this fig leaf isn't consistently applied through the whole book or its expansion, so whatever.
                >"You're a GOOD boy if you don't bully the poor wittle innocent Beasts!"
Wow, that sounds even worse actually. Beasts legitimately deserve to be lynched.
                >the rest of nWoD
It has it's cool parts, yeah. I don't mind the techno-gnosticism, I just feel there are more interesting things to explore in it like what exactly the relationship between Strix and vampires is and what the Principle's deal is. At least the True Fae and the Judges of Duat got a fair shake (even if the Judges of Duat are awkwardly attached to a gameline which, from one interpretation at least, posits it's gods as the "original" ones that created all others. Which is a surefire way to trigger Magegays into a screeching outrage about how the Supernal is outside of time and space and retroactive, nevermind the fact that Imperial Mysteries explicitly states ALL the major splats have some sort of sponsor operating at the archmage level to prevent them from being trivially wiped out by an Imperial Working, and that the Exarchs fear even the fallen Supernal gods.

Anyway, personally I think Demon the Descent is a really cool game with lore as shallow a puddle-but more importantly, cool powers, cool systems and a dynamic conflict that can be fitted to basically any party. As a game it far surpasses Demon the Fallen. The one major problem I have with it is that /it doesn't feel like you're playing a demon/ and should have been named something like Agent the Matrix or Golem the Rampage or something. All your powers are tech-themed, and explicitly artificial compared to what spirits and the like use.

, here, I must admit I can really take or leave Mage. I mean, who doesn't love a gameline built around solving mysteries and suffering hubristic downfalls that just tells you outright all the setting details as blunt facts and makes avoiding your plans backfiring trivially easy? I tend to take the view that if I have to accept Imperial Mysteries supplement from 1st edition, then a Mage fan has to also accept that a Hunter can trepan the magic right out of them with a tactic from the Vigil's Witchfinder book. What, that doesn't make sense? Gosh, what a MYSTERY. Perhaps you should investigate why it clearly works. The abyss is pretty cool, so long as its not the only explanation for weird things.

Speakingvof, with Descent Demons, I take the view when I ST that the God Machine and its minions are just one *thing* of many. They aren't the only demonic entities out there, whether they're Pandemonium critters, godawful abyssal horrors or stranger things that defy easy categorisation. We're on pretty much the same wavelength, I think - I dont really like the 2nd edition buildup of The God Machine, although I understand why the developers did it under the circumstances with CCP Games and then Paradox.

Maybe we'll get more about the Strix in Requiem for Rome 2.

Are there more races/supernaturals? Now I’m just curious.

Also knew about Beast thanks to 1dCinemaphile, but I wondered if they stay the same or would do something

So it wasn't "Baba Yaga was murdered by a little girl" but "a 4th generation nosferatu was diablerized by another 4th gen nossie"

Yep. Old WoD has Vampires, werewolves and the rest of their shifters and the bargain bin versions made by pentex, mages and all their varieties, Wraiths until the technocracy blows them up as collateral to kill the Ravnos ante, changeling, mummies, hunters, and Demons. And these are just what are playable.

Wereboars, the only things that can safely eat and purify wyrm taint
Werebears, the healers of the Fera, able to raise the dead and without the usual bullshit that comes with it in WoD
Both genocided cause they tried to help garou

Werebats, genocided cause they kind looked like tzmisce if you squinted and were fricking blind

Werecoyotes, worthless pieces of shit whose entire existence js "just a prank bro" and serve less of a purpose than any other shifter race. Saved from extinction by the American group, which they watched the boars, bears and bats die

Garou are really fricking moronic. How stupid are they? As a whole they still believe believe weresnakes are the dancers of Gaia, that mother earth would make an entire species devoted to dancing to entertain the other ones

      The weresnakes are Gaia's assassins

Imagine committing one of your greatest strategists and his prodigies to defending a piece of wilderness with no strategist value and ONLY making gains on it after the Realm has pulled back most of their Dragonblooded forces (for those who don't know Exalted, imagine like...season 3 Korra but there's hundreds of them and most of them are asian-european redhead amazons instead of brown ones) because their own civil war is a bigger priority than Lunars.

Gaia quite simply never intended for the Garou to ever try and take on the Wyrm on their own or hell, even exist beyond the need for acting as guardians to the other Fera. She needed warriors FAST, so she rushed them out of beta with little thought.

Oh, and it goes to mention WW tried to retcon most of the abey as being monsterphiles, rather than sick fricks who are the sort of people to keep a human hide rug cause werewolves turn back to normal people when you kill them, or keeping a ghost around to make its ritual murders a game or straight up murder-raping a godam SLASHER for kicks, and being so messed up even the guild of serial killers goes "dude, calm down, and get your dick away from that zombies mouth"

In the same way they tried to retcon the red talons into not wanting to murder all of humanity.

Both attempts were ignored by the fans, cause they were moronic. Trying to make the human monsters who make low humanity vampires, the pure, true fae and all the rest seem like poodles into monster groupies is unforgivable

Given that the Abbey is a thing, his disgust for American Hunters is pretty understandable. Big D clearly isn't a "Kill all the the supernaturals" kind of hunter; he's empathetic and sympathetic to the plight of the entities he encounters and is perfectly willing to solve things peacefully if able, as he expresses to Kitten and even to Kevin.

He also expresses clear disdain for the New World Order which is a faction of the Technocracy, so we know where he sits on the whole "genocide magic" thing too.

Most people don't have humanity above 7. Which is the baseline for vampires to. Frick, just thinking selfish thoughts like, "oh I should defend myself" will make you roll for degeneration at 10 humanity. You can maintain 7 humanity pretty easily if you're careful and don't go full murder hobo

This series is so incredibly bad.

I remember enjoying TTS when it started as it was short, shitty jokes about the 40k universe. But then when it got to be 50 minute puppet shows of bad fan fiction it lost all appeal.

And now it is bad fan fiction in a worse universe also feature gays and furries.

Not to mention it is debatable weather Black Library's Horus Heresy or TTS did more damage to the overall 40k community.

They aren't going back, it's pretty obvious with how fast content is being pumped out for this setting compared to TTS stuff in recent years that they were damn tired of Warhammer 40k and took the perfect excuse to stop.

The custodes were fun jokes. It was fine that they were gay strippers because it turned what they were in lore (kinda) to 100 and gives an internal antagonist for kitten.

I agree. Also making kitten and magnus gays is so weird, especially since they were basically mom and son in tts.
        Weird oediple shit.

Transfering the characters feels like it would be fun and work but the end result is just jarring, like one of them is having a fever dream.

Dorns autism doesnt make sense in this universe.

Is right the Magnus being a gay with kitten is so weird and forced. It being forced into the writing (like with the vamps) is so cringy and out of place.
Big E being super accepting fits but having them be huge gays is so off. Also starting with Dorn having adopted boy was a mistake. It should have happened in the story naturally

So what's the lore breakdown of Werewolf: The Apocalypse? I'm only just somewhat read up on Vampires lore since Bruv has been making Hunter, but haven't looked into anything besides Vampire: The Masquerade. From what I've been able to pick up, Werewolves are some autism Cape-tier level of overpowered and are bystanders to the human Nuclear Apocalypse, and they're the only ones who can tough it out? Werewolves are autistic eco-terrorists fighting a losing war against the cosmic principle of destruction, decay, and entropy as well as the servants thereof all whilst shitting on humans for falling into the embrace of the cosmic principle of order, technology, and stasgnation (which they caused) who drove the former principle utterly insane.

They are also, ultimately, the big reason why the World of Darkness is the World of Darkness.

Care to elaborate? I'm curious on your take.

Let me give my understanding, though

        Wyld. Weaver. Worm.
Wyld makes Garou, Garou police Humans and probably frick up something along the way, probably causing tech to advance rapidly and self-genocide to Garou. Vampires are byproducts of the Weaver, and Humans are unaware but direct servants of the Weaver? Wyld's slowly dying because all of this shit is a mess. And Garou are the Strongest creatures in the setting, because they are the direct creation of the One Uncorrupted Primeval Force in the Setting? And everything else is either there, below, or in-between? Like how the Wyld (probably, total guess here) crosses over the the Fae realm or whatever is probably else in WoD

          Anonymous

          >Care to elaborate? I'm curious on your take.
          See

They could also work to heal the madness of the Wyrm on a scale none of the other Fera could.

and associated posts for how badly they've fricked everything.

          >Wyld makes Garou
Technically correct, but also no. Gaia made the Garou, and Gaia's relationship to the Wyld is anything from daughter, to sister, to mother, to wife, to all of the above.

          >Vampires are byproducts of the Weaver,
They're considered Wyrm-tainted actually. Though they work under both due to the Camarilla existing.

          >and Humans are unaware but direct servants of the Weaver?
Pretty close, yeah. Humanity unwittingly works in accordance to the Weaver's goals, though some knowingly serve it.

          >And Garou are the Strongest creatures in the setting, because they are the direct creation of the One Uncorrupted Primeval Force in the Setting?
Eh, only by technicality. In practice, Garou can't really take on shit like 4th Gen and above vamps, Technocratic mages, Nephandi, or Demons and the like (who were actually there during the Fall, with those like Lucifer recalling what God is/was before it fricked off). And there are more effective Fera at killing than even the Garou, such as the werecrocs. Garou are definitely much higher than most though.

I'm still totally convinced we'll meet other TTS characters when we meet other factions like the Anarch, the Camarilla, etc. It'd be a lot more fun if they dynamics were a little bit shifted too. Door seems exceedingly capable to have on your team: but what if, when faced with a Garou, we learn Door actually has a phobia of Dogs? I guess Magnus would be the best example for this but my boy Magnus has gone through enough give him a break.

I've been saying it since the newest audiolog but I'm 100% convinced the Tremere reagent is going to be based on Shdaowsun and be Son-In-Laws ex girlfriend.

Nahhhh, if not-Sigismund were an actual vampire Door would kill him immediately.
In fact, I bet his own son being a vampire would make him twice as motivated to end him, because that's like a personal frick up.

It would be fun if not-Sigismund joined a different group of hunters who's philosophy WILDLY differed from the main group's.
Bonus points if he's little more than a peon for that group but he's SUPER zealous about it.
More bonus points if not-Sigismund secretly wishes to impress and reconcile with his dad but he's inherited his father's legendary stubbornness.
