The most underrated Pixar movie. Feel like an epic, lived in world. Great villain. Really crude humor which makes it unique compared to today (Toy Story 1/2 and Monsters Inc had this too). Gorgeous atmosphere. Melancholic Randy Newman music, Flik's theme and credits song are like an ode to life's losers.
And the VHS tapes that had alt covers with different characters bring me back to the late 90s.
Yep. Antz and Shrek 1 are humorous, but they keep their humor somewhat hidden and even take themselves fully seriously in a few bits. Dreamworks stopped doing that afterwards, with Shrek 2 and Shark Tale being the start of a new writing style.
also, the environments felt real too. Like just looking at sid's house you can almost smell the house. Cigarettes & Dog Food. also, an interesting detail about Toy Story is the villains get defeated but you STILL have about 20 minutes left in the film to get back to Andy.
also it might be nitpicky but the plot with escaping Sid is a bit contrived. It relies heavily on the air-vent being open, and having a loose fence board.
>Toy Story >Antz >A Bug's Life >Toy Story 2 >Shrek
Love the CGI of these 1995-2000 films (Shrek premiered on april 2001, yet the CGI was finished by late 2000)
It did, but it came from limitations of 3D technology so they fixed it later.
yeah,it's called a soul
what you’re describing in your image OP is a sunset
Yeah but it's aesthetic is stylized. Later toy story movies focus too much on being photorealistic
What do you call that style of house?
A single mother could apparently afford in the 90's
i want to say georgian and cape cod with some classical elements
it honestly aged better aesthetically than people give it credit
"it's not what was done before, therefore it sucks"
>"it's not what was done before, therefore it sucks"
Any Bug's Life enjoyers up?
Antz was better.
Me, top tier comfy movie
boring opinion
Wasn’t that used in Monsters Inc?
I was going to say they were just similar but you might be right. The only major differences I can see is the grass and windows.
I really wish they focused on the city a bit more. also, one of few pixar films with no sequel
I respect it and like the designs princess ant is cute as fuck but never really liked it
>antfucker
>doesn't like the movie
Does not compute

It had more song montages
It had some rock songs
Yep. Same deal with Shrek 1.
Shrek 1 feels more serious. Or at least hides its humor more

Infinite soul
If only Traveller's Tales could've put that same soul on Wrath of Cortex not long after.
This is the theme that plays when I get my dick out
Remember me?
I like to imagine that Luxo Jr., Red's Dream, Knick Knack, and Geri's Game are canon to Toy Story 1.
