I'm down for a sequel but I'm also fine if they just leave it as a standalone. Also a part of me kinda doesn't want WB to do anything that might actually make money because Zaslav needs to suffer more.
The Jokerbait at the end was shit, and there isn't really much you can go with that corrupt rich/disenfranchised poor lesson.
Maybe environmentalism with Ivy or underfunded science angle with Mr. Freeze, but it would shift too much on the supernatural.
I hate how the movie has to hastily make Riddler cartoonishly evil to distract from the fact that he kind of has a point, given how corrupt all his victims are revealed to be.
>cartoonishly
Common sentiment but I think the conclusion has reason. Batman himself started the cartoonish trend when he put on tights and brawled with thugs, if he can take that one step to the absurd in the name of justice then why can't another take the next step?
Though I agree that it's ooc for a big brain like Riddler to act so brutish.
My problem is that they decided to take inspiration from Zodiac but whatever reason felt the need to overcomplicate everything with the sympathetic "fight the corruption" shit.
Zodiac-Riddler is a great idea for "nolanizing" a Batman villain like Riddler on paper. It's just going from a common albeit intelligent and attention-seeking serial killer to some anarchist nerd with an agreeable point ruins it.
Easily my favorite live-action Batman, can't wait for the sequel. Now that Bruce has learned Batman needs to be a symbol of hope, I'm hoping we see him come to understand that Bruce Wayne can be equally useful as Batman in the fight to better Gotham. Maybe we can even have an action sequence during the day time where has no choice but to fight without his suit.
Then, after putting away a few more of his rogues, I think the third movie should explore his family's legacy and his mother's history of mental illness in Arkham Asylum. It could be a brutal, fast-paced and claustrophobic action movie combining elements of The Raid and Mad Max, where Bruce is trapped in Arkham with all of his rogues, lead by The Riddler and Joker (Or Hugo Strange?)
>I'm hoping we see him come to understand that Bruce Wayne can be equally useful as Batman in the fight to better Gotham.
Good idea but that's never going to happen, people making Batman don't care about Bruce Wayne.
I literally did forget about this movie the day after I saw it in the theater. It's the most milquetoast Batman film ever made. Even the second animated Batman film with Mr. Freeze was more memorable.
I think this movie could've been great, but >Emo Bruce being a complete ass to Alfred >Riddler switch >Spanish >The black female Mayor winning after her opponent is assassinated >The Bomb >The railway >Catwoman
And I'll say more
They should've used this opportunity to really frick Bruce up.
The bomb? Frick him up good.
The Train Rail overpass? Frick his back up.
I wanted to see him limping at the end. Really struggling.
But no, this Batman felt as strong as Superman, bulletproof too if I remember correctly.
Hell he was fricking bombproof.
And the black commissioner Gordon should've been an OC as well. Why can't movies have OCs that aren't fodder?
Hopefully never because I'm sick of the Nora shit being rehashed over and over and over again
You can watch Gotham if you want a live-action rehash of Freeze's backstory that isn't Schwarz
Go to any Youtube comment section of a The Batman video, and you have casual morons claiming that this is somehow the most "comic accurate" Batman. In reality, it's probably the least comic accurate, counting all the live action versions.
Nolan's Batman is based on a myriad of comic stories, thanks to co-writer David Goyer. I saw almost nothing in The Batman that was lifted from the comics. Maybe a little bit of a few awful stories like Earth One and Zero Year. Riddler was completely different, Penguin was Italian American and working for Falcone, Batman was bulletproof, etc.
Batman is such a shit character. I think I only liked him before because I was an edgelord, but man is he boring as hell. Now that I’m older, he comes off as childish and tryhard. I read he’s a piece of shit in comics that’s borderline evil too.
I wish people would forget about Batman.
Something in the way
SOMETHING'S IN MY ASS

It doesn't ruin anything
What is there left to talk about
I thought it was a great first movie. I can’t wait for the squeal
>great
>admitting your have no standards.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
we had this thread yesterday lil bro
I had to remind people it existed because everyone else keeps forgetting.

What do you lads want to see in the sequels?
>What do you lads want to see in the sequels?
Robin.

what is it about this movie that makes Cinemaphile seethe so much
Nothing. This board seethes as easy as it breathes over basically anything.
Gen X grandpas who can't let go of Adam West.
Bad film, shit main character, horrible cast.
rewatching Nolan's movies and literally accepting nothing else
Nolangays and Snyderjeets
At least neither is as pathetic as being a fan of a nobody like Matt Reeves. Have you seen any of his interviews? The guy is an insufferable gay.
Nothing is worse than being indian
It's just too goddamn long. No capeshit movie has any business being three fricking hours long.
Honestly it'd be perfect if they cut all the cat Woman stuff out, like just hint at stuff with her and save the reveal for the sequel
Just play Subway Surfers on the side, maybe a Tiktok as well.
wtf happened to the art
for you
I literally did forget about this movie the day after I saw it in the theater. It's the most milquetoast Batman film ever made. Even the second animated Batman film with Mr. Freeze was more memorable.
>things that didn't happen
You don't have to jerk yourself off to look cool lol
Nah this is more memorable than the mediocre Freeze movie
Penguin was too gangstery. He needed to be a bit more of an aristocrat
I thought it was long as frick and handled Riddler terribly to the point where he might has well have been an oc
I think this movie could've been great, but
>Emo Bruce being a complete ass to Alfred
>Riddler switch
>Spanish
>The black female Mayor winning after her opponent is assassinated

I have some hopes for the Penguin series though.
Penguin was the best part for sure
And I'll say more

And yet you keep making these threads saying that.
Classic Dano.
When are we gonna get Paul Dini's tragic Mr. Freeze in a AAA DC film, goddammit?
Hopefully never because I'm sick of the Nora shit being rehashed over and over and over again
You can watch Gotham if you want a live-action rehash of Freeze's backstory that isn't Schwarz
The sequel should have a female teen Robin.
Good, you sucked.
And despite this, everyone seems to start furiously jerking off over it any time it's mentioned.
Glad to see I'm not alone in thinking it was dogshit.

How is it less comic accurate than Nolan?

Reminder that this is the Batman George Lopez refers to when calling Batman a fascist
It wasn't even bad
Man.
Action wasn't really that great and the only thing that stuck out to me was how many times they played the nirvana song
