also, reminder this is just murphy's skin fit over a robotic skull. the big reveal was supposed to happen in robocop 2 but they cut it out because it was too freaky.

Pretty obvious considering one shot to the face would have snuffed him otherwise and he's constantly in a hail of bullets

His rebuilt form as RoboCop; they basically discarded everything except his brain, and jammed it all into a mechanical body. And then they peeled off his human face and grafted onto a cybernetic skull, to try to lessen the uncanny valley effect. This is really brought home in the scene where he takes off his helmet by removing the screws from his temples and then gazes sadly at what's left of himself in the mirror.

That even the face is fake too. Only the brain and a few organs remains.

They made a bulky tank, no way they had the expertise to make sophisticated lip movements, his face is real

              RoboCop: Touch me.
              Ellen Murphy: It's cold.
RoboCop: They made this to honor him.

They DID show it in Robocop 2, but for Cane. So it'd be redundant to also show it for Murphy.

yes we know. modern Hollywood is mostly filled with cheap talentless hacks. what else is new

I know practical effects are more expensive than CGI, but goddamn if that doesn't look as good now as it did back then. You can't say the same for Marvel movies even 5 years old.

its also crazy that the FX artist demanded it be only shown in the dark because he thought it didn't look good enough to be in bright lights.

      Disneys Inspector Gadget, it sucks
Plus Robocop is pretty upbeat, it’s my kind of story where it’s one good guy against an evil world but everyone besides him is having a hell of a good time

I love the ending because it ends exactly where it needs to. We don’t need to see him try to find his family or anything (because that would be boring as the remake showed), his one acknowledgment of his real name is enough to complete his character arc

        Anonymous

I agree, but I still feels like the family stuff would be the natural extension in the sequels with him struggling to find a place for himself. He doesn't even need that many scenes with his family, just an ending where he is finally at peace with himself.

“Your husband is dead but I will protect you and your son for Alex Murphy. You must go now but I will protect you.”.

As it stands it feels a bit tacked on, no matter how well-written and emotional the scene is.

isn't that literally what this scene is?

          RoboCop: Touch me.
          Ellen Murphy: It's cold.
RoboCop: They made this to honor him.

The only problem with 2 is too many story arcs

The whole family angle feels wasted when it is so easily aborted. The first film was about Murphy regaining his humanity. The 2nd or 3th film should have involved, if not regaining his family, at least that the recognition that he keeps fighting for them.

i rewatched these recently and forgot how good weller's acting is in 2 when robocop's all f'd up from the new program they installed. his movements, mannerisms and even line delivery are so spot on.
