It's completely seamless. The entire film was created as a storyboard years and years before it started production. It was polished for decades so the editing and choreography are flawless.

Raid movies are the ultimate example of less is more. Every big fight scene becomes a snoozefest when you see the characters get kicked in the head 30 times with no impact on them. They should have paid more attention to Jackie Chan movies and learned what makes a fight scene compelling

That I will agree. The unnecessarily long movies of today would have Max tell a sad story of his past about how he left a little girl behind or let her down but in Fury Road it’s a 1 second flashback that makes you think ‘oh he’s seen some shit’ and it continues with the action.

Dementus was the better villain than Joe for actually having more screen time than Joe did in both movies, having a backstory that is implied to be exactly like Max's, and Hemsworth was actually very entertaining in the setting as an actor. Joe is the costume and the voice, and the lore of the Citadel.

Joe was better simply because he was the main villain in the better movie, he had the voice and the presence that was required for him. Dementous was good but suffered from a weaker story, honestly furiosa should’ve just been an out an out sequel and have dementous be the rival warlord swooping in to take the citadel, most of the movie could’ve been the same

                >in the better movie
It's a better action movie because that's 90% of what's going on. Doesn't make sense that Dementus has the weaker story when we see more of him, we see him go through multiple transitions, and he has a backstory that is more understandable and relatable than an ugly war lord that just wants sex slaves

                Anonymous

Dementous is a megalomaniac with delusions of grandeurs that collapses when he’s presented with the slightest pressure outside his expertise. I’m not saying he’s a bad villain poorly performed, I’m simply saying that the story around him in general is weaker and not living up to the performance. We see less of Joe yes, but his presence is felt throughout the movie and as cold and calculating as he’s presented, he has a real air of authority and is shown to be a real leader making the best of a terrible situation, we consider him monstrous because we relate to him based on our morality in our world, but in all honesty he has a point in every horror he orders. THAT is what makes him the better villain.

                Anonymous

My point is there is no story around Joe that relates to his personality or his history. In Fury Road we know nothing about him besides he's an butthole and he wants a genetically pure son to rule his feudal society. He is barely in the movie, I feel like people are overestimating how much screen time he had. Dementus on the other hand feels like he's in his own movie at times.

That's good for visuals not characterization. Everything about Joe is basically inferred by his appearance and dress, and that all he does in the movie is aggressively pursue Furiosa and the wives. To be clear this is in comparison to Dementus, I'm saying Dementus had more characterization than Joe. Joe is a great character and villain on his own.

Yeah, and imagine my disappointment that the prequel to fury road in no way attempted to explain ANYTHING about how Joe established the three cornerstones of his society and was just about how the stronk woman got to be his right hand man. Once again though I did like Dinentous and enjoyed his story, it just wasn’t the story I wanted and he never had a good enough actor to play off of. Honestly he was just Toe cutter from the first movie, just less rapey

These movies aren't supposed to explain anything. The setting is supposed to be strange with strange people and a lot of visual minutiae that can tell a story on its own. Miller is extremely, extremely good at little details in these movies. Especially Fury Road and Furiosa.

What was the point of a prequel that in no way established anything new or told a new story? Furiosa (which let’s be honest, is a stupid name for a mother to name her child) becomes her full self by the time she meets dementous and from that point on she just gets angrier, she never grows or changes in the movie, which I believe is a large part of a woman’s power fantasy, but max took a whole ass movie to become MAD Max. It’s just sad that miller could’ve used this to tell a better story, but he just settled on rehashing fury road but with worse visuals

also the fact that it a prequel origin story rather than a sequel

Thing is fury road didn’t do THAT WELL at the box office, so they really should’ve just had Miller make a smaller movie with a sensible 8 figure budget.

Don't think too hard. Furiosa is just the worst Fury Road with the most moronic actor from Thor.

Note that Fury Road had the idea that got Miller to make the fourth Mad Max movie in the first place. Furiosa is just trying to replicate that. Too bad.

Furiosa is just the YA novel version of Fury Road, it’s not bad but it was targeted towards the wrong audience and set in the wrong time period. Hemsworth was the best actor in the movie by far and knew the project he was in top to bottom, he was far better than the female lead

my only large complaint with Furiosa. I know the movie was already long and there was no way they could fit in another massive think like that in it, but then why the frick include it if you're just gonna go "so anyway then Furiosa fought 5 of the last guys and killed Thor"

Nah I liked the washed out desaturated look, adds to the grit of it. BW seems a bit pretentious.

It was edited in blavk and white, and I think did the camerawork with b/w in mind and intended it to be released in b/w but Warners said no, obviously. The color version is great, but I highly recommend the B/W version to any fans of the movie.

the film ends with those matriarchs who lived in their own previous matriarch dominated society in a fertile lush Green Place, being literally raised to the sky to take over the previous despotic patriarchal society that existed solely for one man to birth a son from chastity wearing hotties. it's not even funny how packed with feminist elements Fury Road was. not that I'm complaining, it's a good movie but Furiosa was the complete opposite of feminist slop and had essentially zero points relating anything to feminism, but it's being trashed on here by people who apparently love Fury Road despite it being glaringly and obviously a more female-centered plot.

It’s a great movie but it was a mistake to film it in Namibia. I just finished my rewatch of the series and honestly I now think that the first is the best one, it’s the only movie with a complete story about a world and has a definitive ending that pushes the world forward, the rest, while still good, feel like tall tales of a mythic wasteland about a reluctant hero thrust to complete a destiny. Max’s descent from being a family man and police officer trying to hold the small world he lives in together until it’s ripped from him by the decay that surrounds him was perfect, and the setting felt real. Which honestly looking at today was refreshing, I wish we had follow ups on his old police captain, and a follow up on how the corrupt courts collapsed. That’s the real flaw of furiosa, it set itself in to odd a place, when furiosa was a child the world should’ve had a semblance of sense still.

Haha, yes, frick your dumb mother and sister. Us blokes know what’s up!

My point is there is no story around Joe that relates to his personality or his history. In Fury Road we know nothing about him besides he's an butthole and he wants a genetically pure son to rule his feudal society. He is barely in the movie, I feel like people are overestimating how much screen time he had. Dementus on the other hand feels like he's in his own movie at times.

      >he wants a genetically pure son
What a c**t. Glad that troupe of prostitutes and their lapdog escaped. 10/10 best movie evar with v logical motivations for all characters.

mad max fury road is a reimagining, a tacit satire if you will, of the chevrolet americana aesthetics as depicted in films like two lane blacktop and more importantly american graffiti. the over the top but not as self aware car fetishization in graffiti, the merry go round of cars in the city constantly on the move totally reminiscent of the continuous vehicular movement in fury road , the basic structure and the temporal awareness in both films is the same, everything happens within a days time

This movie is literal communist feminist propaganda
    >muh brainwashed men need to be tamed by a woman to cure them of their toxic masculinity (nux)
    >men are obsessed with vehicles and trying to achieve a higher status within their lot in society (this is portrayed as bad in the film)
    >muh patriarchal capitalist overlord only keeps the water for himself, but when females get elected, they make sure everyone gets their "fair share" (women being in power is shown as a good thing even if they make bad decisions)
    >nux claims the world ending wasn't his fault, still gets blamed by the feminist heroes for it anyway, "then who killed the world?" (typical of how conversations with irl feminists usually goes "and who's killing men? Other men!" , except in this case, the feminists are portrayed in a good light, and nux is portrayed as defending the evil "patriarchy"

I will say though, the one thing that doesn't fit in with this, is the behind-the-scenes backstory of the vuvalini, George's view of them isn't as flattering as what was portrayed in the film. I enjoyed the film on a superficial level as an action flick, but I utterly reject the political premise offered by the movie as any kind of semblance to our irl world.

Dementus wanted to be a conqueror, not a ruler, that's the advantage Joe had over the other wannabe warlords. I liked the character of Dementus and his biker gang, they reminded me of Lord Humungus' forces and I'm glad they didn't have their own gimmick like the war boys

      >he literally fails at everything throughout the movie.
no he doesnt he literally succeeds at being the best father the wasteland has ever seen

furiosa is the exact precise opposite of woke, and infact reinforces the absolute fricking necessity (and timeless beauty) of toxic masculinity
Furiosa™ (2024) is one of the best movies to come out in theatres in YEARS

      Dementus is furiosa's father
Dementus literally saves little-D multiple times, while teaching her hard, uncomfortable truths about the wasteland
by being a toxically male badass, which little-D learns in time, is how you survive
Furiosas ~~*mother*~~ was some random lesbian cultist,
irreparably damaging her life with the vulvulini shit
      >*DEFINITELY YOUR MOTHER*
The teddy bear is furiosas bear, and changes as she grows up. at the end of the movie, the bear only has one arm, like little-D
      >(the bear is a SYMBOL OF HOPE, for Dementus, the memory of Little-D).
      pretorian-dipshit is the step-dad
at the end, Dementus recognizes her as "little-D" when she tearfully re-takes the bear, seeing that Dementus had *HOPE* all along
lastly, it is directly implied Dementus was the healthy "stag" who was impregnating joes wives
      >(joes sons were 'pale genetic abominations, who produced nuke-ruined 3 legged offspring)
Dementus = chad white toxic masculinity (tan, vibrant, long hair, beard, charisma, muscles, height, big-D)
Immortan joe = "immortal israelite" (flanked by literal israelite, and shabbos goy henchmen)
      know the difference^
