True JLaw and Streep are insufferable and the core of the Harv gang.
I liked Leo's job though. At least he full commited to the autism role. Rather than JLaw "I'm a nerd but also a woman who's going to save the US from Republicans".
This. It's frustrating because as an elevator pitch for a satire film, DLU's premise is gold >Scientists discover an asteroid that's going to wipe out life on Earth, and desperately try to warn the public and convince our leaders to act; only to wind up competing against political punditry and celebrity gossip for attention.
This should have been on par with In The Loop or Four Lions or even Idiocracy, but it needed drier, smarter comedy and you needed actors who could believably pull off being introverted, asocial, frustrated scientists.
It's about not blindly trusting the government, and most politicians are owned by corporations to push things like the covid shot in order to maximize profits no matter the cost.
libs are either sheep or psychopaths promoting a cult of ideology spitting in the face of reality.
as shown media lies and i heckin love scientists are corrupt
the more and more I think about this movie, it has to be one of the best "End of the World" type movies ever. the impending doom of knowing an asteroid is coming and everyone can see it in the sky. I don't care about the politics baiting shit in the movie, which are kind of funny but get old quick. overall a movie that will keep you up at night wondering if thats how its really going to go down
Melancholia was better >50% a fatalistic person unable to deal with basic day to day existence like eating, bathing, getting in a taxi etc >50% she's the only happy person as the rest of the world are losing their minds when they realise how fricked they are
It just doesn't work as an analogy for climate change. Getting people and governments onboard with solving climate change is hard because it would involve extensive economic restructuring and lower living standards in the near term. In the movie there's no downside to blowing up the meteor, so they have to make everyone stupid so that they won't do it.
It's not though. It's more like an analogy for how the government gets involved in ANY crisis (think COVID more, Climate Change less), making it unironically a very PRO-RIGHT movie without realizing it. Governments are fricked, celebrity news is for LOW-IQ trend slaves who always vote left, because they are easily programmed and brainwashed by said media. That's who was getting roasted.
it's a russian soldier thing
>it's making fun of YOU, chud!
>blah blah media literacy blah
>*shits and cums*
It's one of the few unironic pretentious films
I've never seen a more hamfisted satire, especially one that far overstays its welcome.
Have you seen jlaws butthole?
Do you think it was leaked from Harv's phone?
It tried to be like Idiocracy, but didn't lean into the satire hard enough and obviously was picking a side.
Basically Republicans bad, the movie.
Which could have even still worked if it was at least funny, which it also wasn't.
>but didn't lean into the satire hard enough
chuds are beyond satire dude
>beyond satire
it's also starring some of the most self congratulatory and vapid sacks of shit in the movie industry so that didn't help.

ok chud
>Basically Republicans bad, the movie.
It didn't mention any side though. You ok?
Yes, I'm ok. Thanks for asking.

The Brits should do a remake some day.
Also for it to not be directed by Adam "how many more cameos can I fit in" McKay
>Basically Republicans bad
but any sane person knows that already
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Here's that super sexy astronomer I was telling you about
the people that hated this movie were the media, and chuds. Both of which get assfricked by the film so its no wonder
and loved by troonys like you.
>chuds
frick off with your anti semetic dog whsitles
/pol/troons btfo by it so every single thread about it is just memes and shitposts.

WHICH WAS MORE FORGETTABLE:
-don't look up
OR
-leave the world behind

too nihilistic for me
at least this gave the ending a little humanity
Deep Impact was better.
Greenland was better.
melancholia is king

Leo was bad in Don't Look Up
Leo was bad in Slingbladse 2: Killers of the Flower Moon
is being bad his new thing?
