It was a career move from the people who "cancelled" him and Disney wanted a puppet they could control in charge of Pixar without thinking about what would happen to the quality of the output of that studio as a result. It's not about the offense even it's just an excuse to get rid of someone with minimal push-back.

Yeah disney make some really great decisions don't they?

Unwarranted, constant hugs = acceptable 1990s way of signalling you're friendly & progressive, but this had become dated & creepy by 2010

My dude, Unwarranted, constant hugs were fricking creepy back then as well but instead of getting cancelled, usually the victim's boyfriend threatened to knock the frick out of the creepy hugger and that usually ended the matter. Ie, it was settled privately.

Is your ilk that inherently unevolved for complex society, that you genuinely can't help but try to insinuate whatever your will is without regard?

If too many hugs your boss who built the company you work for from the ground up is too much for you pussies then fricking quit your job, dummies. You don't have to work there. You also don't have to ruin his entire career and reputaion because boohoo he made a comment about my smile, he should have the same public image as Harvy Fricking Weinstein. You miss my point. Versus a conservative restrained handshake, a man aggressively venturing toward someone with arms outstretched, was for a period of time in the late 20th Century, a way to signal one was above old norms, friendly & approachable yet also subtly superior.

He is a hugger. I don’t think Miyazaki really cared that much, there was a level of mutual respect. Pretty sure he was the one that convinced Miyazaki to start using CGI to enhance his 2D animations.

Miyazaki had no way to counter this. You can't force a handshake on someone who has their arms in that sort of hugging position. He holds out to the last second, but it was a lost battle from the beginning.
