Disregarding the obvious bait I am curious how much people who never followed Zach and the OneyPlays posse enjoyed smiling friends. I enjoyed smiling friends a lot, but at times I felt the humor could be so niche it might turn people away and the ones that it didn’t already heard these jokes from their podcast/let’s plays.
I enjoyed the frowny frickers and the Halloween episode. That's it
I loved the last episode where Charlie meets the devil, the show's modern influence touches on short-term dopamine rushes which is a unique form of depression. I think it's got a lot more in store.
I really liked Smiling Friends, it pretty much perfectly matched my sense of humor.
Actually, after watching Smiling Friends and liking it I started watching OneyPlays since I thought Zach was funny.
I have two friends who started watching smiling friends and they both really liked it. One of them started watching oneyplays because of it.
I knew about oneyplays and sleepycast and all that before the show, I told a friend about it who didn't know about oney and everything, she watched it with her boyfriend and they both loved it. Neither of them knew about oneyplays or anything like that
Didn't know anything about OneyPlays apart from being on game grumps once. Thought there was something really special about this show and marathon'd it in a day.
My parents both marathoned it, both said they felt like they lost braincells, both are waiting for season 2.

I think it was good and has some great moments, but it's not exactly groundbreaking. I think it relies a bit too much on "characters speaking awkwardly/normally" and being kinda out there, but it still falls back on some pretty generic bits.
And honestly I think whenever it tries to make some points (Mr Frog episode, Charlie speaking to the devil), it's not a big stretch to some of the more preachier Family Guy moments. Like yeah the devil being reliant on short-term dopamine rushes is kinda funny but you don't need to literally have a character say it. And having an awkward interaction with a delivery driver is relatable but I feel it's been done before. Compare that to the rotoscoped guy calling Pim old, which is fricking wierd and great.
Whatever, it's a fun show and I'll watch the next season.
Charlie and Pim are just Brian and Stewie.

because it was made by Zach and he has a pretty big AS following thanks to Oneyplays/NG. looking back at it I kinda agree with the humor thing though, it was cool to see him finally make something but this show didn't hit all the way for me. Plus its VA cast consisted mostly of has-been youtuber homosexuals piggybacking off his popularity instead of real voice actors which was slightly infuriating given how fricked Zach himself has been by his own industry
