He met some girl from Asia (Thailand or the Phillipines iirc) at a comic convention while she was on holiday in the States. They kept in touch and started e-dating, with COVID thwarting both their attempts at visiting each other. Long and short, she broke things off, he started whining publicly about it and some of his moronic fans started harassing her, with caused her to subsequently sever all contact with him.

I was in the same situation and I'm sorry to give such cliche advice but you just have to break it off. She'll call you crying and try to convince you not to but you have to stay strong and just say "sorry, but this just isn't for me." The more you draw it out the more annoyed you're going to get and eventually you'll just blow up at her about it which will only make her feel worse than if you'd broken it off earlier.

Just say that as things have progressed your not ready for a relationship right now(that's the most important part) and that you want to dial it still want to be friends.
Then you figure out why you are where you are and figure out where to go with that understanding.
I say it like this because if she is reasonable then she will understand and give you the space. However the longer you wait to attempt the relationship again the more likely you have of loosing her. Which is why I also recommend you figure out why your having this issue ASPA so if you decide to break things off or try again you are the one making the decision.
