I feel like there is a certain degree of excitement around comic books right now. Not saying they're going to become mainstream again, but people are really excited for what Marvel is doing with their new Ultimate universe, the Energon Universe is gaining a lot of fans, and I think DC has a lot of good ongoings right now.

There's still problems and stuff to complain about, but I think there's a lot more positives now than there's been in a long time.

That's what happens when you shit the bed constantly in the main universe

These are sort of tangential and anecdotal. It's good you're feeling excitement re: these 3 things, but that's not something you can ascribe to others.

I get tired of all the negativity. I know there's a lot of bad stuff, and it's fine to complain about that stuff, but people act like comics are worse than they are.

Problem is theres just an abundance of garbage in capeshit and no competition that makes comics looks so bad rn.

I do think that publishing fewer books might actually increase sales. Make it less overwhelming, and less likely people will buy something that sucks.

there's an abundance of OKAY comics in capeshit
I enjoyed all the Fall of X minis that I did not remove from inventory, but was an Alpha Flight mini worth spending $100 a month on just X-Men comics alone to get the "full story?" Not really.

I do think that publishing fewer books might actually increase sales. Make it less overwhelming, and less likely people will buy something that sucks.

As much as I like the idea, two of the best Marvel comics recently have been Moon Knight and Ghost Rider. Cutting back on titles means there will still be Spider/X-Men/Batman bloat clogging up the available slots.

The price is a problem. Most books published by Marvel and DC are fine, but the price is really hard to swallow.

              >Most books published by Marvel and DC are fine
That’s not even remotely true. 3/5s of what they read is truly dreadful, 1/5th is for woke types and the final 5th is for comic readers.

There is literally no debating this. How can someone say this when multiple DC storytime threads are up for comics literally NOBODY wants or likes.

Lately the shill media was even admitting that there's a problem in comic books. I truly feel like they're making a conscious effort to try and solve some of these problems. They've got a long way to go of course, but they're trying.

Post a picture of the ongoing comics you’ve paid for in the last three months.

My LCS broke street date on Ultimate Black Panther and it still sold out within an hour. This didn't happen with Ultimate Spider-Man so I'm wondering what the frick is happening.

I genuinely don’t believe you, because you won’t name them to protect the store and you won’t post any sort of proof at all.

      Or they ordered low.

Or they’ll suddenly “get a shipment in” (which doesn’t happen) which they’ll sell at a mark up to idiots that fell for it.

No reason to believe me, just the anecdote I brought to share with the class today. And you're right, I wouldn't name my LCS because the owner does right by me and there's no reason to bring the hellfire of The House of Mouse on them.

Marvel and DC hit rock bottom and now they're actually willing to do what they should have done 6 years ago. Stop hiring cancel pigs and give the customers what they actually want.

First off, no, they clearly aren’t. Secondly 6 years? Try 20.

I feel it's more just the simple fact that Marvel and DC realize that they need to get their shit together as best they can, or the direct market is done.
